Day 1
Upon your arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa city (2-hour drive). On the way you will view the Giant Stone Buddha carved into the side of a mountain. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and let your body adjust to Tibet's high altitudes.
Day 2
On this day your tour today will include Lhasa's cardinal landmarks, the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the flourishing Barkhor Street.
Day 3
You will take a whole day tour to visit the Norbulingka Park, the Drepung Monastery, and the Sera Monastery.
Day 4
On this day you will be driven from Lhasa to Gyantse (256km, 5.5-hour drive). Along the way you will visit Yamdrok Lake and a Tibetan family. After arriving in Gyantse, you will tour the Palcho Monastery.
Day 5
In the morning, you will visit the Tashilumpo Monastery and the free market. After visiting Shigatse you will be driven to Tingri (245km), where you will stay overnight.
Day 6
You will be driven to Mt. Everest (Qomolangma), (100km, 3-5 hours). You will visit the Rongbu Monastery first, then continue on to Mt. Everest's Base Camp for a closer look at this magnificent mountain. Weather permitting, you might be able to see the world's largest and best preserved glacier, Rongbu Glacier. You will stay overnight at the Rongbu Monastery guesthouse.
Notice: the conditions of the Rongbu Monastery Guesthouse are rather poor. The guest rooms are shared by multiple guests and the toilets are shared. We recommend our customers carry their own sleeping bags for hygienic reasons.
Day 7
In the morning you will enjoy the sunrise from Mt. Everest. You will then be driven along the "Friendship Highway" to Zhammud. Along the way you will pass high mountains, overlooking Mt. Everest and Mt. Xishapangma. You will see the dramatic change from the bleak barren mountains to lush vegetarian and waterfall at the southern side of Mt. Everest.
Day 8
You will be free on this day until you are escorted to the border of Nepal.
