The Qingdao International Beer Festival is an annual event that began in 1991. It begins on the second weekend of August each year, during the peak tourism season and lasts for 16 days. This festival has brought representatives from breweries and beer lovers from around the world to this beautiful seaside city and has helped make Qingdao famous throughout the world. The festival’s slogan is "Qingdao, Bottoms up with the world".

In 2006, the 16th Qingdao International Beer Festival has brought 45 beer brands, including 41 brands abroad, such as United States, Germany, UK, and Japan, etc. There are about 3 million visitors coming here each year. The festival is held in the Qingdao International Beer City, which is located at Shi Laoren Holiday Resort with an area of 470,000 square meters. By using beer as a carrier, Qingdao International Festival has become the biggest Asian beer pageant including economy, trade, tourism, and culture.

Qingdao International Beer Festival is made up of opening ceremony, huge-scale entertainment program, beer-drinking match, economic and trade exhibition, travel and leisure, and closing ceremony, etc. In the Beer City, visitors may go on a drinking spree, enjoy the wonderful show from different countries, and feel the hospitality of Qingdao people.

Third, the number of countries and beer brands to take part in the Qingdao International Beer Festival is the most so far.
