Thanks to our amazing tour planner Alex Quan of China Odyssey Tours we had an amazing tour of 7 cities in China over 16 days. The guides have perfect English and were attentive to everything we needed, ensuring we were happy with our hotel rooms and that we made it onto the trains and planes, and they explained so much about how China operates and what it is like to live in this hugely populated country. I learned so much, and enjoyed every single tour. They gave us choices along the way, and would make extra stops for specific requests. I did not think we needed this much assistance, as I have traveled several times to Asia, but because so few Chinese people speak English, we appreciated dining suggestions and assistance with finding authentic souvenirs. We chose 5 star hotels, even requested a view of the Bund in Shanghai, and we loved every place we stayed. It was a great 4 person tour. Alex was very quick to respond to each and every email. I would recommend Odyssey Tours to anyone. I have never seen such first class service from start to finish. No surprise there are all these amazing reviews. Thank You.

This is my first time using tour group in Shanghai even thought I have been to Shanghai many times for business trip. Since I was taking my parents (80 years old!) to Shanghai with me for their first visit to China, I have opt for private tour and sent an email to enquire about the tour. All the queries are promptly follow up, with all details explanation and even sent me an email few days prior to travel date with details information about who will pick me up with phone number, etc. Airport pick up and entire tour is well plan, very professional, we do not encounter any issue at all. I will fully recommend them to anyone who want to visit China.

We took a 13 day tour that included four flights, two river cruises, and six different guides. Everything went perfectly according to plan. Guide and driver were always waiting to meet us, one time even at 3 AM following a long flight delay. Guides were all professionally trained and knew the schedule and we some times enjoyed conversing with them about Chinese culture more than seeing the sites. The hotels were all great, too.

My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Beijing and wanted to take a 5 day tour by train while she went away on business. Alex Quan of Odyssey organised a brilliant trip taking in Pingyao, X'ian (for the terracotta warriors) and Luoyang. All the arrangements were perfect. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly and spoke excellent English. The 200 mph trains are amazing, clean, comfortable and incredibly punctual - far better than internal air travel.Pingyao is a fascinating old town where you can wander around without any traffic. Ok all the shops are there to cater for the many Chinese tourists but that's part of the fun. The hotel - Jing's Residence - is one of the best I have stayed in anywhere. The Terracotta Warriors are a must see and lived up to the hype. Despite visiting on a busy weekend I did not find it too crowded, there was plenty of time to see everything and to listen to the excellent descriptions from Nancy our guide. In addition to the Longmen Buddhas we were able to visit the Luoyang Peony Festival, a stunning spectacle with acres of wonderful blooms and a real bonus for our trip. If you're in China in April and love gardens its well worth a detour.Overall I can't fault Odyssey and would happily recommend them.

I decided to take my daughters on the 8-day Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai trip, as they study advanced Mandarin. My mother and aunt joined us. Our trip was wonderfully tailored by Alex@Odyssey to fit into our spring break from school (4-star- plenty in hotels that were great.) We were greeted by Amanda Zhen at the airport with snacks and water, which were welcomed. She and our driver, Mr. Xie showed us the best time in Beijing, even fighting for something on our bill at the hotel. Mr. Xie is a great driver, so calm. I would go crazy driving there, but he patiently waits through the traffic. Amanda made sure we had plenty of food for lunch every day and we could've gone without dinner, if we wanted. Both breakfast and lunch were included. The hotels were great. (Novotel Peace in Beijing) We took the cable car up a less crowded part of the wall and took a sled down. It was fantastic. Admission and tickets to all the sights was included. Amanda took us each to a special place to buy whatever we had personally wanted, making sure were were at the best place and helped negotiate the best price for us. (pearls, jade, purses.) Her history lessons were great too. Amanda even made sure we had food for the long bullet train (included) to Xi'an. (I slept, of course from all the activity.) This is an active trip, but Alex@Odyssey will tailor the trip to your activity and fitness level. We walked12.4 miles one day. Once in Xi'an, we had Helen as a guide. She was extremely educated and we got a very thorough history lesson. Xi'an is the highlight of the trip and I highly recommend spending extra time here, if you can. I wish we would have had extra time to venture more into the country, as this area and the people were so friendly and Helen's knowledge of the culture and area was fantastic. I loved the food in Xi'an best, as noodles of every kid could be found with every meal. I even ate them for breakfast. I would go back to that buffet anytime. Our flight to Shanghai was also included in our trip price and we were taken to the airport by Mr. Wang and Helen with plenty of water for our trip. Unfortunately, we left an iPad in our hotel safe, but guess what? Odyssey brought it to us via another traveler the next day. (Unbelievable!) Our hotel in Shanghai was among the best I've ever stayed in: Sunrise on The Bund. The area was being developed, so it could've been in a little more convenient neighborhood , but our room and the hotel were incredible. Do not eat in the hotel, as it is super expensive. There are hundreds of fantastic restaurants elsewhere, especially the French Concession (Quarter.) As for Shanghai, there is not much to see. It's a Westernized and there's not much of Chinese culture to see. If you want to change or customize your trip in anyway, I would suggest more time in the country and less time in Shanghai.

We booked our Odyssey tour to China through Alex Quan. Alex helped us by giving us many different personalized tour options and was so patient as we tried to see what would fit our budget and all the things we hoped to see. We shared the tour cost with our niece who is a travel agent and she said that the tour companies she deals with us could not touch the prices listed by Odyssey. My daughter was worried as her flight came in at the middle of the night but she was told not to worry and someone was there in the middle of the night to take her to our hotel. It was a wonderful experience and truly a trip of a lifetime. We toured the cities of Beijing, Xi-an and Shanghai. All three of our tour guides (Tracy Liu; Nancy Song and Michael Qiao) were knowledgeable and fluent in english and really made you feel like you were with a good friend. I would not hesitate to use Odyssey again for our future travels.

Odyssey's Alex Quan, proficiently added extra amenities to our month long visit in China by even including airport pick up/drop off, hotel accommodations & other travel arrangements before we even actually started an official tour with Odyssey. Our guides in Xian and Beijing were not only scholars of Chinese history, but also amiable, patient and of gracious spirit and respect.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC TOUR COMPANY! PERFECT ITINERARY, TOURS AND SUPPORT!This review is long overdue. My family has traveled to all 50 U.S. States and nearly 40 countries. That said, we had never been to China. After searching for the perfect tour company and itinerary, I finally came across Odyssey Tours. My contact and the person that was intregal in insuring our 18-day tour of China was perfect was Alex Quan. Alex was very pleasant and helpful and worked with me to put together an itinerary that our family will never forget. Equally fabulous, similar but different Hong Kong and Shanghai followed by stunning and beautiful Guilin. The Giant Pandas of Chengdu, The Terracota Army of Xian, and the amazing history of Beijing with its' Great Wall, Forbidden City, Winter Palace and many other sites. These are obviously just the highlight sites however, there are way too many memorable and historic sites to list here. Everything went beautifully with our tours and tour guides. An amazing education and a trip our family with never forget. Thanks again to tour Coordinator Alex Quan along with our fantastic guides; William, Alice, J.J., David (our favorite), Kevin, Erin and Leo. They all did such a great job! We look forward to returning to spectacular China someday and when we do, we'll absolutely use China Odyssey Tours! Thanks again Alex Quan and Odyssey Tours!
