Belatelly, we want to express our sincere appreciation for the outstanding perfessional support you provided for our recent visit to China.

From the early planning stages through final arrangements you were always prompt and courteous, and your many suggestions were always appreciated.

Throughout our trip the guides and drivers were uniformly excellent and we would like to express our special thanks to Chris Tang (Shanghai and Suzhou), Lee Dan (Hangzhou) and Jilly in Beijing. they were all outstanding. the transportation arrangements (air,rail and auto) were all excellent. Our hotel in Shanghai was conveniently located, well appointed and the service excellent. We would want you to know, for your future guests, that the Jianguo Garden Hotel in Beijing was less satisfactory. While the room was fine, we found the front desk staff to be less than courteous and helpful. the staff in the Business office was actually rude when we sought computer assistance. every other aspect of our tour arrangements would suggest that China Odyssey Tours expect better than this from its contract hotels and vendors.

Again, we thank you for all you did to make our visit to China such a wonderful, memorable experience.

Hopefully, at some future date we'll be able to work with you on another visit to the interior of China.

Thankyou for your email.

We would like to say that we had an absolutely fantastic time. We were a little worried about booking a tour via the internet but it is obvious from the start of our holiday that your company is very professional and we had no problems at all.

Our tour guides and drivers were first class, knowledgeable and very friendly. Please pass on our thanks to Sally, Ivan and Run as well as the drivers. Our guides also were great in suggesting and arranging additional activities such as going to a tea house in Beijing; the Kung Fu show, Chinese Opera in Xian, Acrobatic show and Dinner River cruise in Shanghai (we wanted to do it all). We have no hesitation in recommending your company to our family and friends.

Our holiday was made very pleasant as we did not have to arrange anything, China Odyssey took care of everything for us. The hotels were great, the food was fantastic and the places we visited were extraordinary. We took around 1000 photographs and 6 hours of video. After having such an amazing time in China we would like to come back and see more of it. It is good to hear that your company also arranges tours in Indochina as well. We are already planning our next trip with you in the near future.

Dear Maggie,

Very interesting and well organized. Bus to Wuhan was a little different. Never been on a bus that long, but I survived . Guide met me in Wuhan when I arrived and took me to train for return. . I got a cold on the cruise and have not not been feeling as well as I would like. Feeling much better today though. Thanks for all your help and support. Really glad I finally saw the Yangtze. Truly beautiful. Wuhan was impressive with all the construction. Truly amazing what China is doing. Exciting time for Chinese. Train from Wuhan to Beijing was fine too. I am staying at the CBD Qianyuan Business Hotel. Very impressive and inexpensive. Great location too. Just for your information.

Dear Maggie,

Thank you so much for your lovely gifts, it was a great surprise. Thank you also for all your help in organising such a great trip. It was really wonderful. Our kids really enjoyed meeting each and every guide at each city- they particularly liked Kenny!! We would be more than happy to recommend your company and also to include some photos- we have 1000! Our kids felt like celebrities as everyone wanted to have their photo taken with 4 blonde children!

One comment that I think might be helpful to share with you was that several of the guides were very good at realizing how we were feeling. Evelyn and Kenny were particularly good at sensing that the children were very tired and couldn't do everything that we had included on the itinerary. However when we were in Beijing the traffic was horrendous from the week long celebrations. Our guide changed the order of our activities from one day to another which was no trouble.

When we finally decided to go to the Great wall the kids were made to get up really early. It took 6 hours to finally get there because he made us visit a factory which produced the cloisenne products and then we had to go to the Jade factory because the guide and the bus driver had to have their lunch. We just stood there waiting. With tired kids this was just ridiculous and they were not even slightly interested in either of these destinations that were not included as far as we were concerned. Will said that he had to take us to these places because it was company policy. If we hadn't gone to these places we would've been at the great Wall by 11.30 instead of 3.30pm!

Dear Maggie,

Thanks again for a pertfectly arranged holliday. Have to tell you we were stunned by the whole organization. Never had to wait for anyone. Of course, filling in the forms for the guides was a laugh. Better not do that through the tourguide. There is always good and better. We only had one tourguide that really missed the idea of helping the tourist. Just the minimal help and without any interest at all. But that is no problem. This one did NOT get any bonus. As soon as we know WHEN we want to come to China again we will let you know.

By and large everything worked fine. We sure missed out on the Yantzee cruise (flooding) and the train from Lhasa to Xingning was a harder experience than we ever expected! (how to reconstitute noodle dinners, unpleasant bathrooms and not knowing when to board or when to exit were all challenges which we faced on our own)

We are glad we had your help getting out of Chongqing AND with our extra day in Peking.

Thanks again for our wonderful gifts and we have many great memories of our time in your very special country.

Yes we enjoyed our trip. The guides were all good. Bruce in Shenzhen went above and beyond the call of duty. The Holiday Inn Express was a shameful experience and Bruce did everything he could to make the situation better. He also said to me that you could sent us a copy of the receipt or booking info for this hotel as we are members of Priority Reward, so we get frequent flyer points for this stay. It will also be to prove to the Priority Rewards people that we stayed. If you could do this for us quickly it would be appreciated.

Dear Reinself and Maggie,

I just wanted to say the trip to Tibet was memorable and enjoyable!

The itinerary was up to par and spaced out nicely.

The Xin Ding Hotel was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in! The staff were most pleasant! The Bell Boy was most memorable as he always greeted us with such respect and courtesy.

Besides the mishap with Tibet permit (and Daniel being marked as a female), we both enjoyed the trip and thought it was such an amazing part of the world.

Thank you for the email. We had such a wonderful time in China. Thank you so very much for planning every aspect of our visit so that we were able to see so many amazing things.

We of course enjoyed Beijing. You had us set up for all the key sites to visit. On our extra day there, a trip to the Lama Temple was great and would be a great addition to the “must see” list…also a pedicab through hutongs. All of the sites you scheduled were great. I think we’d trade in Li River trip for a visit to Three Gorges Dam, if we were going again. The day volunteering at the Panda Reserve in Chengdu was definitely a highlight of the trip, and of course, our most awe-inspiring viist was to the Great Wall. Shanghai was great—we loved going to the Financial Center, and thank you for being flexible to change from the originally scheduled visit to the other tower.

Our guides were very good-- so competent, well-informed, and friendly; their English was terrific. The hotels were great—so comfortable and staff was so gracious.

All of the plans were so well done, and everything went so smoothly---it was a great trip. Thank you so much for checking all the details and making the changes to the airline tickets for us. We appreciate all your efforts to help ensure that our visit was a great success. Thank you, thank you—it was wonderful.

autumn scenery in Beijing.

We are back to AKL and have rested a bit now. The weather here is still too cold at the moment even though it is spring.

We have enjoyed our trip and thanks for making sure the arrangement was all as per our discussions. All in all we are happy with the tour.

Just my preference after having stayed at three star hotel deluxe room and four star standard room, I think if deluxe room in three star is of much better standard than four star standard room, then I would have preferred that. We enjoyed staying at the Greenland Jiulong in Shanghai a bit better than the hotel in Beijing.

To many tourists, no matter domestic or
overseas, Huangshan is an irrisistable
dreamland.

The trip was very good but tiring, lots of walking and climbing but I enjoy it very much. We didn’t get to see all the peaks.

Will planned for the next visit some time later.

This is Marc Chauvette (hope you remember me).

My dad and I have been back from our China trip for a few weeks now. I just want to let you know how much of a great trip we had. We are filled with great memories and I tell everyone (you may get more business from our area!).

All the tour guides were exceptional, very professional. From Emely in Beijing, Ivan in Xian, Penzo in Lhasa (not sure about the writing of his name), Nancy in Chengdu, Jay my friend in Guilin, May in Hong Kong and finally Chris in Shanghai. I'll remember them for a while. They truly made our trip memorable. But I must add you as well to the list. I was pleasantly surprise when you called in Lhasa just to make sure things were good with us.

I tell everyone of the excellency of your service. We felt that everything was being taking care of at all time, which gave us peace and permitted us to enjoy our trip fully.

I hope you are well. It was a pleasure to meet you. I am sorry this is later, but I have been doing a lot of traveling and have not had time before now.

All the other guides were great. I also appreciated the suggestion by all the guides. They were very knowledgeable. The two river cruises we took, Yangtze Cruise and Li River Cruise, were also wonderful. Each one gave us a chance to relax after all the running around. Our guide in Guilin , Susan, suggested that we go see the Minorities Dance Show, all called Liu Sanjie Night Show, and it was marvelous. I enjoyed it and think that other people would too.

Dear Maggie,

We just arrived home an hour ago. I just wanted to send you an email to let you know that all 10 of us were extremely pleased with all the arrangements including, vans,hotels, meals and the sites that were included in the visit.

I would be remiss if I did not single out the local guides in Beijing Susan(Li Peng) Ma, Tony in Xi'an and Wendy(Wen Li) Ma in Shanghai. They all spoke English extremely well. They were very knowledgeable, and demonstrated immense pride in their cities and the history of their cultures. They were also very flexible in their approach and made suggestions for alternate things for us to see and do. For instance, we took the Maglev railway to the airport and back and went to the top of the Hyatt for a view of downtown while we were in Shanghai.

Once again I want to thank you for your excellent arrangements. Everything went just like clockwork and I know from personal experience how much preparation is involved to keep the clock ticking properly.

Do you have any information on what could be a return trip to China toward the end of next year. Heather and I are thinking of the Silk Route followed by the Trans Mongolian Express from Beijing to Moscow. If you could get me some itinerearies and prices, I would be grateful.

Hello Maggie and Mr.Tong,

This is a short notice to inform you that Taro Washida and my family had returned home safely.

Thank you so much for your excellent support before/ during our stay at Hangzhou.

Maggie, I guess you already had a report that we COULD experience the wonderful total eclipse at Hangzhou!! It was really a kind of miracle, since we knew that the weather was so bad on 22nd, and actually many many peopled missed the eclipse because of the weather.

Mr.Tong was really helpful and done a great, great job for us.

I could not decide where to go, until the very last moment because of the weather, but we had a good discussion in the morning and eventually we have decided to go where you initially planned for us.

Besides, you may have known that I had many many personal request for our private tour.

Mr. Tong had responsed prefectly to our requests (dining, shopping etc.).

On behalf of my family, I express our maximum gratitude.

This is Ada Lichaa. I went to China with some of my family from May 1 through May 9. I arranged our tour through China Odyssey tours and I wanted to tell you how pleased we were with all the arrangements, hotels, food, transportation, attractions, and more importantly with the tour guides that met us at Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai. All three tour guides and especially Michael were wonderful! They knew the Chinese history very well and answered all questions we posed.

We felt that we could identified with the tour guides and that if we return to China one day they would be our friends. The drivers were excellent too! In addition, the accomodations, transportation arrangements and tour attractions visited were all exellent! I can't wait to travel to China again and definetely will be contacting China Odyssey, and I would also recommend your agency to all my friends.

My dear Maggie,
Ni hao!

Well we are back after a truly wonderful experience in China - Shanghai & Beijing. All thanx to your meticulous planning and well concieved itineraries. i must acknowledge that you had wonderful patience in formulating as many as 6 or 7 itineraries, including all the alterations that i could suggest, as many people who had themselves been to China interacted and shared their views wih me.

Thank you very much for including the mag-lev train ride and shopping time at the last minutes! my wife shopped-till-she-dropped, as the cliche goes, in Beijing next to the Pearl Market. she bought half of the entire place till we ran out of money and suit-cases to carry the stuff. bargaining was really fun for her.

I was a bit apprehensive about Jiulong hotel from the internet reviews; but actually it was much better than its 3-star rating. if there was a disappointment it was Harmony in Beijing. they viewed our stay as an impostition on their chit-chat time! but he actual cleanliness etc was excellent - the food was tolerable but it would have helped if the breakfast items had bi-lingual labels, since most of the attendants spoke no english. also ordering a meal through room service proved difficult for the same reason. on 6th the reception-lady stepped in and told the restaurant what we needed - it came well-served at the correct time. but on 8th the girl at reception told us she can do nothing and we should go down to the restaurant to order the meal. i don't think this qualifies as 'room-service'. we had no option however, but to go down and order the meal.
Overall, our trip was really memorable.the acrobatic show in Shanghai was simply spell-binding and the Kung-fu legend ballet was just a shade behind! your guides, drivers etc were just wonderful and made our trip special, particularly Danny - though Richard was no less. he is a very sincere person.
will certainly be recommending my 'friend in China' to all my friends!

Xiexie dear Maggie, i hope we can come again and see the Clay warriors and perhaps fulfill my dream of travelling by train to Lhasa!

Dear Maggie,

Thank you for your recent message. Yes we had a pleasant journey back home and we have not stopped talking about our trip to China since we came back. Everyone around us wants to know how it went and see some photos. There is so much to tell, we don't know where to start!

Yes we do plan to make a travelogue of the whole experience, including our son's wedding and a selection of the hundreds of photographs we took. But we have not managed to do it yet. I will send you a Picasa web link to some photos, together with a commentary on our trip, hopefully within the next month.

In the meantime, I can tell you that we were very impressed with the organization of the tour and all the guides and drivers. We certainly would recommend China Odyssey Tours to friends who may be planning a trip to China.

Now that we are home and experiencing torrential rain (Nives excepted), we think back on our wonderful Chinese experience and the summer temperatures we enjoyed there.

Thank you again for the romantic supper which I fully enjoyed. I was just a bit sick and do apologize for not having been the way I am usually are and on top the temperature was a bit too high for me but your company was one of the highlights during my second visit to China.

The first day in Longsheng was magic and exhausting to reach the top of the mountain but i had my training already two weeks earlier walking up and down thousands of steps on top of the Yellow Mountains at the Huang Shan Scenic Area, after this experience and another walk on the mountain at 3800 meters, the climb to the top at Longsheng was rather easy.

The view over the terraced rice paddies where awesome and i also managed to make photos of a Yao Lady and her long hair what an experience to see her to undo the hair showing the length and tie it up on top of her head again but i will send you lots of photos just give me some time as i have made about 1300 !!! And it takes a while to sort them out.

The boat cruise on the Li River was a wonderful experience which I will never forget and the arrival at the little town Yangshuo full of vibes like West Street and I managed thanks to Teresa to watch the Impression show in the evening produced and directed by the same person which did the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games in Beijing, what a show it has been, I have never seen something like that.

Jima Road cycling was also something beautiful and I made plenty photos and believe it or not Teresa battled to follow me on the bicycle.

The two pagodas, Elephant Trunk Hill and not to forget the Reed Flute Cave was a spectacular departure from GUILIN and my eyes are building up with tears when i think about it again.

My long visit to China was a total success, worth another visit one day to Beijing boarding the train to Tibet. Stay at Base Camp below Mount Everest and the last stop in GUILIN but for a few days longer.

I would like to thank you for the lovely birthday gift you sent to me at the Shangri-la Hotel in Shanghai, where we ended our wonderful holiday. It was very thoughtful and sweet of you, and a lovely memento to remember our trip to china.

Hello Maggie,

I want to "Thank You" for planning such a great tour for us.

Kathy was great and knew her, "stuff". Each tour was steeped with history. I can not say enough about her! She went out of her way to accommodate us. Her English is excellent. You must be very pleased and proud of her!

Our driver Mr. Lee was great, even though, I'm sure we tried his patience on many occasions, he was always smiling, went out of his way to assist us, always had fresh water available to us and finally, manipulated his way through Beijing traffic like an expert.

Beijing is such a modern city, the cleanliness, the architecture, the friendliness of the people and the enviromental conscientiousness are all a tribute.

Our hotel was great. The meals were excellent, more than enough food. Although, I found the one drink limit strange, we survived and ordered extra on our own.

I am looking forward to returning to China next year and I will book with China Odyssey again.

Once again, Thank You Maggie. I enjoyed myself and I would not hesitate in recommending China Odyssey to anyone.

Hi Maggie

My husband and I had a wonderful time. We were very pleased with how well we were taken care of. Mr. Lee our driver, was an excellent driver and very courteous. There was always fresh water in the car, and he was always very helpful in getting us in and out of the car. Kathy was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable. She was very accommodating and spoke English very well. She made us feel very welcome, and was very helpful with interesting tips, little gifts for us etc. One improvement I would like to suggest is drinks at lunch. Our lunches were on the whole very good, and always much more food than we could eat!

We were very satisfied with our hotel. It was excellent for a 3 star, and the restaurant was very good, breakfast was very generous and tasty and dinners were excellent. We would recommend your tour company to any travelers.

Hi,

We have returned. If you have the opportunity to plan a trip for a group of people who are interested in China, this was part of our itinerary. In addition to this we stayed at the Raffles Hotel in Beijing, and the Westin in Shanghai. All hotels get our recommendation. The River Cruise was fabulous. The regular rooms were very small, however we had upgraded to a suite, and the rooms were 3 times the size of a regular room. The sights that we saw were incredibly interesting. I will give you more in depth comments when I see you.

The people that planned this were from China Odyssey Tours. Their names were Maggie and Sophie. They both spoke terrific English and they accompanied our group from Xian through our last day in Shanghai. They planned everything, and they were the most pleasant people to deal with. I highly recommend using this tour company, and these consultants in particular.

firstly,I would like to give our deepest condolences for the dreadful Earth Quake,we feel deeply saddened for all the Chinese people lost and affected by it,everytime I watch the news on TV I cry for China,you are truly marvellous people,with a wonderful culture,we loved every moment we were in China,and to have this Earth Quake happen has made it all seem as if we have personally lost someone near to us.

This is just to let you know that our Huangshan trip went off very well. There were no problems. Golf Hotel was great. And Jason Bin Yang,our guide,was very good. He took good care of us and managed to get us down from the mountain without having to wait 4 hours in the huge crowd for the cable car!

Dear Maggie:

We are now at home in Canada and have many pleasant memories of our trip to China. We enjoyed our experience in China and found the people to be very friendly. Our tour guide,Sophia and driver,Mr. Woo,were very kind and friendly to us. Sophia was very knowledgeable of the history and culture of China and taught us much about China,s past and present. We enjoyed seeing the historical sights of Beijing. Probably our most memorable day was our visit to the Hutongs by rickshaw and lunch in the local families home. They were most hospitable.

We were pleased with the service we received from China Odyssey Tours,from our first enquiries to our ride to the airport. We received prompt communication and courteous service. I will definitely recommend China Odyssey Tours to anyone who would be traveling to China in the future.
