Thanks, Wanda,
I have attached the completed evaluation form for you. (The following is the quotation from Lisa's evaluation from)
We are very excited about the trip. The organization has been very easy to work with, fast responses and clear prices up front.
Wanda has been absolutely amazing to work with. She has answered every question we have promptly and pleasantly. We have a very busy itinerary for a short trip and she was always helpful with suggestions for how to improve the trip. The tour was skillfully designed, taking into account our preferences and timeframe.
All the best,
Lisa

A Terracotta General of Xian terracotta Army
We would like to thank you for your help in setting up our visit. All went exceptionally well. What great memories we will have.
The only negative part was one you had nothing to do with. Our tour of the Terra Cotta Soldiers was poorly arranged by another company, and because of the tour guides' poor leadership. The comparison showed us how lucky we were to book through you and China Odyssey Tours.
Thank you.

Hi Maggie,
I'm back home now and wanted to thank you for making all the arrangements you did for me.
All the guides, Cherry, Pony and Junnie, were excellent. Very professional, charming, knowledgeable, efficient, and fun to be with. And always early, just like I am.
Thanks so much!

What a wonderful experience that we all had on your tour. The Forteza's rave about everything. We also had a great time last weekend with them in Xian. I will definitely use you for anyone else that wants to do a tour!
Thanks for a great job!

Peking Opera, Chinese national opera
Hello Sophie,
Thanks for the follow up email inquiring about our visit to Beijing and Xi'an.
We certainly enjoyed all the sights and would say that your company did a wonderful job of co-ordinating our visit. I have recommended a friend to use your company and I believe she has made contact with one of your co-workers. I was hoping she would be handled by yourself. My friends name is Carol Gossart.
As I mentioned we did enjoy all the sights. There are just two points that I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly, our hotel room in Beijing was in need of renovation, but the room at the hotel in Xian were much better. Secondly, we were surprised to find out that our flight from Xian to Shanghai was arriving at Pudong airport and not Hong Qiao as previously indicated. I would suggest that in the future you indicate specifically which airport is being used.
Before closing, I would like to send our highest praise for your selection of tour guides. Both Julia and Ivan did an outstanding job and went out of their way to show us as much as possible.
Sophie I am still in Shanghai, please feel free to contact me if you need any further information from me.
Thank you.

Picturesque Yangshuo Town in Guilin
Dear Sophie,
I am sorry we never met. I had a wonderful trip in China and Korea, particularly in Guilin. The arrangements you made for me all worked all very well.
Trudy was particularly helpful as a guide. I hope I was not too much of a nuisance on the trips. I will look at your questionnaire tomorrow and will let you know if I have any other feedback. Thank you very much again. You can certainly use me as a reference for you and the company.

A well-decorated Gate in a Beijing Hutong
Dear Sophie,
The trip to China was amazing and everything was well organised.
There were two minor hick-ups, but nothing major. On our last internal flight we actually had another flight than the one you advised us on (but the guide did now, so no problems there) and when checking in at the Garden Hotel in Beijing they could not find us in their reservation system. It turned out that they made a mistake after they took a few minutes to sort that out. As I said those were minor hick-ups and did not bother us at all.
Other than that, everything went very smoothly and the organisation was perfect. Thank you very much.
By the way, I did not mention that specifically - the guides were all very, very good. They were all like 110% and the one in Xian (sorry, forgot her name) was like 115%. Really excellent - all of them.
Rest assured that should we ever visit China again we will contact you and I will also recommend China Odyssey Tours to any friends who might plan a future trip to China.
Kind regards,
Eric

Good morning, Maggie,
I loved your pictures and it was nice to 'see' you. I checked out both websites. They are great. By all means use my previous letter to you if you think it is good enough. I have attached some more pictures as well for you to look at.
It is really nice to see my Travel Experience and our China Tour Album on your web.
I still can't believe that we did and saw so much. I also bought a Picture Viewer as soon as we got home and have it turned on all the time. It is in the Living Room and I am constantly seeing a picture of someplace, something or someone that I have forgotten and then it brings back more wonderful memories.
Have a great day.

Hi Maggie,
I had nothing but a very good experience dealing with you. Having you do my plane reservations, to having you do, our hotel, to your private tour, everything you did for us was exactly as you promised and what we talked about.
I have already recommended you to friends and will continue to do so. When my family returns to china, you can be sure that we will call you again.
Thank you so much once again, Maggie, for all your help!

Shanghai Expo Opening Ceremony Fireworks Show
Dear Karen,
Although I was unable to join our friend for the trip in China, I was able to have half a day in Shanghai. So I saw the preparations for the Shanghai Expo.
I must say how impressed I was with your service in Shanghai. We were met at the airport on time and deposited at the hotel. The coach that took us to the airport clean and comfortable.
I would also like to say thank you for the credit that you gave us for not being able to enjoy the first week of our holiday. It was very kind of you to do so. I am going to keep your name on my data base for future visits to China. I hope it will be sometime soon.
So thank you once again and many warm wishes.

Dear Maggie,
I just returned to Seattle, USA, and would like to thank you for the arrangements you made. Everything was perfect. Guides met us as planned. The cruise up the Yangtze River went well.
I will be returning to China in October and plan on further explorations of your fascinating and beautiful country. Once I have a general idea of the cities I want to visit I will let you know. Shanghai Expo 2010 is worth a visit. It gave me a much better idea of great destinations.
Thanks.

Dear Sophie,
Our guests from Sweden once again had a great 3 day trip in Beijing with your guide Steven. They asked me to write to you and express their appreciation and recommendation of Steven.
They said he was very organized, thoughtful, and knowledgable. There was not a thing they wished to change during the entire trip. A big 10 point again this time!
So thank you for a wonderful trip again!

Dear Karen,
We have recovered from our jet lag and have the house and yard back in good shape and have no reason to withhold a big thank you for holding my hand during the trip arranging ordeal, and for thinking of us when we were on our trip.
We were quite surprised and appreciative to receive some travel gifts from you and very disappointed that were not able to meet you. The trip was better than we had hoped.
Thanks again for everything.

Dear Yoko,
Sorry I could not answer your email earlier, but I have been trying to catch up my work since we arrived. Yes, we arrived safe. It was a long trip back home, but fun.
We had a great time in China. Thanks a lot for all the arrangements. Everything was perfectly coordinated: the air tickets, the pick up at the airports, hotels and visits. Definitely we received a great service from China Odyssey Tours.
Here is a little bit of details:
Hotels: all of them were perfect (5 stars and 4 stars). Service was fine and breakfast excellent (very complete).
Internal Flights: we used three different airways. Here is our ranking: Eastern China, China Airways, West China. Definitely the service in West China was not as good as expected.
Tour Guides: most of them had an excellent attitude. All the time they were willing to help us and making sure we have a good time while we enjoy the visits and learn little bit of the history and culture. By the way, please say hello to Chris in Beijing. Among all our tour guides she was the best.
Visits: all of the places we were worth the visit. I wish we had some more time top expend in Shanghai and Hong Kong, but that give us a good excuse to return to China.
Once again, thanks a lot for having taken care of all the details to make sure our experience in China was superb.
Best Regards,
Ernesto Coello

Dear Maggie,
I once again thank you for arranging our tour nicely. There was no problem at all and everything worked out as per programme. Actually I wanted to meet you in person but there was no time. Except tour guides very few people in China understand and speak English that is the only problem. We liked Bejing and Shanghai very much especially roads and flyovers. If you have any plans to visit India, please let me know.

Dear Karen,
I would like to thank you for arranging our tour and the excellent guides and drivers who accompanied us.
The visit was a wonderful experience of a life time.
I have written to two of our guides, Susan and Tracey whose particular company we enjoyed and gave us such an enjoyable visit of interest and concern for our welfare. I would be very grateful if you could forward my letters as I like want them to know how grateful we were to them and how well they represented your tour company.
Thank you again for such good arrangement, meals, hotels, and flights.
Best wishes for the future!

Delicious Beijing Peking Duck Banquet
Hi Vera,
I am back to work and very busy with catching up the arrears of work.
I like to thank you for all the arrangements you did for our trip to china. Every thing went on very well as per the plan. Thank God it did not rain any of the days. In Shanghai it rained at the beginning of the first day but stopped after an hour.
We enjoyed our trip very well. The tour guides were very good especially Cherry in Shanghai went out of the way to help us. It was a bit cold and the food was good and too much for us. It is good that you did not arrange dinner except Peking Duck Banquet.
Thanks again!

The well-known Impression Sanjie Liu Night Show in Yangshuo, Guilin
Dear Sophie,
Nice to hear from you again!
The tour we made in China was very interesting, the staying in a completly different enviroment was exciting. The experience with the very professionally local guides gave us the possibility to know China better, to learn a lot of things about Chinese history, customs, Buddhism. In Guilin, we enjoyed very much the Impression Sanjie Liu Night Show suggested by the guide, and the Reed Flute Cave was amazing.....
Sure if we will decide to visit China again, we will contact you. In the meantime, we promote and recommend your agency to our friends. All the hotels choosen by you (also in Hong Kong) were very comfortable and in good central position. I thing that you have nothing to improve only to continue in this way.
Concerning the photos we took a lot of them, but sincerly we have still to sort them out.
I wonder if you can help us again by issuing a receipt or an invoice for the amound we paid, so that we can deduct a part of these expenses. I really hope that you can help us.
In the meantime, thank you again for the great trip you arrange for us.

China's largest Imperial Summer Villa in Chengde
Hi Yoko,
First of all thanks for arranging everything. Our tour went flawless and the services were excellent! We had an unforgettable time in Beijing and Chengde.
All of our tour guides were very accommodating and warm! We never experienced a dull moment with them. Everything in the tour gave us value for money. The hotel was great, you were right, the location better. Our Beijing guide, Iris showed true knowledge of the City so as did Helen, our Chengde guide. Even though we spend only a few hours at the Hutongs, our guide there, Janet gave us a thorough tour of the area. Suffice to say, all tour guides did an excellent job. I can say the same for our drivers. They did everything to avoid traffic and was careful in their driving. Good job.
All in all, thanks to China Odyssey Tours for making our trip relaxing, breathtaking and fun!
Looking forward to our next tour, maybe next year same time to Hongkong and Guilin. :)
Ofcourse, with COT again. I am even endorsing COT to others considering a China Trip.
Thanks again, Yoko.

Yunnan Local People at the Stone Forest
Dear Karen,
We have had a wonderful 'China experience' and Thanks to you and to China Odyssey Tours. Everything worked wonderfully. All your guides were excellent, friendly and very interesting and informative. The cars were spotless and the drivers were very experienced and careful. All in all, it was wonderful and we will not hesitate to recommend your Company to any of our friends.
There was one thing not satisfying during the trip. The hotel we stayed in Kunming is not so good. Aside from that we had a super holiday.
Hopefully in 2012, we will be able to avail of your services once more!! We have taken many photos and a lot of video so will be able to relive our holiday again and again. We also got some very nice silk souvenirs, together with some paintings and rubbings from the Steeles Museum.
Again Karen many thanks for all your help, suggestions and organization over the past few months.
With best wishes,

Ancient City Wall, a highlight of any Xian tours
Hello Vera,
We just got back Friday night and are slowly recovering from the jet lag (it actually takes a day per hour for full recovery).
I am happy to say that our experience in Beijing and Xian and the service provided by your agency was excellent. The guides were courteous, punctual and helpful.
My only suggestion is with respect to the evaluation form that the guides asked us to complete for them at the end of the service. The evaluation should be confidential and should be mailed or emailed directly to you. This change in the process will provide you with a more accurate evaluation.
Regards,
Ira

Alex and his friends having a dinner at a tradition Chinese restaraunt in Guilin
Hi Sophie,
After some days in Shanghai, we came back to Barcelona. We have enjoyed our stay in China so much, especially in Guilin. Everything was so fine (he hotels, the tour, the guide, etc.). We specially thank you for your recommendation to see the Impression Liu SanJie Night Show, which was incredibly beautiful.
We found all the arranged perfect! We had no problems as well with Days Inn in Beijing neither Pine City Hotel in Shanghai. Everything went perpect!
As much, I would comment you about the special way of travelling that Spanish people have. We are different respect American or the rest of European people in the fact that we do not like to hurry much, especially during holidays. That’s why we use to be a bit late at the meetings, and always make stops during the visits (to make some photos, to have a rest, to drink some coffee,…). This special behavior made our guide Li get a bit nervous at the beginning, but we think that he realized that there was nothing to do with that, and he perfectly adapted to our “slow raveling tempo”. I think that he even could find the advantages of that! That’s why we were so happy with him.
I keep your business data, to recommend both Sophie and Li to any friends that may wants to visit China.
We’re still collecting all the photos. As soon as we have the book, we will send you some of them. For the moment, I send you the group photo taken in the restaurant.
Thank you so much for all your help before and during this tour.
I’m sending you more photos as soon as we can classify them.

Meeting our Travel Consualtant Jack Ding in Guilin
Dear Jack,
Now that some time has passed since our visit to China in December, it is time to send you our greetings from Finland.
You prepared an unforgettable experience for us. The itinerary was very well put together, with a great variation of history and present, old and new, culture and scenery. We never had a dull moment. And the food was wolderful!
Everything was also perfectly organised. Your guides and drivers were first class professionals who attended our needs and knew their territory from every aspect. They even took care of our extra wishes with a flexible and friendly attitude. They all were very good, but we must say that Emily in Beijing was our special favourite with her warm and delightful presence and devotion.
Of course the highlight of our tour was to meet you in Guilin. We were so happy to be able to thank you in person for all the work you had done for us. We know now that we have a real friend in China.
Enclosed you find a couple of photos of our encounter as a souvenir.
Winter is now over in Finland and spring has replaced the long and snowy darkness. But we still have our dreams of the wonderful time we spent in your great country.
We will certainly return to China, as we understand that so much was left unseen this time. We trust that you would be availabe to help us in our future travel needs.
We wish you and your family good health and all the best in the future.
Warm regards,
Kirsti and Matti from Finland

Hi Louisa,
Just a quick note to say thanks for helping us to arrange our trip to Lhasa. Our guide and driver were excellent (we were thrilled that we had a local Tibetan guide) and we really enjoyed our time there.
Our itinenary was relaxing and provided us with plenty of time to do our 'own things' whilst including all the main places of interest.
We will definitely recommend your company to friends who may be interested in visiting Tibet.

Glen and Amanda inside the Summer Palace, Beijing
Good day, Sophie
Thank you for your email.
Our Beijing guide and driver took such good care of us and gave us a wonderful insight into the history, people and culture of this region. One of the highlights was walking on the Great Wall with snow flakes gently drifting down. Something we will never forget.
As requested, we have attached some photos from the tour...
We would also like to thank you, Sophie, for your expertise and help in planning and organising our accommodation and tour itinerary.
We hope to visit more of China in the future and would recommend China Odyssey Tours to our family and friends.
Best wishes,

Shanghai Museum, one of China's best museums
Leo,
Please pass on our many thanks to yourself and all you associates whom made our trip to China a great success.
Without your Help, we would not have been able to get around as we did. We were disappointed that we did not get to see the Museum in Shanghai; instead, where taken to a Jade Wholsaler whom we had seen similar in Xian. But That did not deture us from all 3 groups that escorted us being a success.
Once again Thanks.

The Terrcotta Army, the biggest underground military museum in the world
Dear Leo,
How are you? I am just writing you to let you know that Amanda and I had a wonderful time in China. We loved it. We had an awesome time. This was one of my best adventures ever.
China has LOTS of history and every city that we went to was unique in its own way which really fascinated us. From the Great Wall to the Terracotta Warriors, to the Reed Flute Cave, everything was just amazing.
We were also very pleased with all the tour guides and the drivers. They were all very pleasant and knowledgeable about each city. I really miss China right now..ha,ha,ha.
Well, thank you for the wonderful memories and I'm sure you will be hearing from us from time to time. Tell Sophia, Tony, Lucy, and Henry, that we appreciate all their hard work in making our trip unforgettable.
Thanks again,
Sincerely yours,

Thank you for a fantastic tour led by Stone! My family was more than satisfied. They were impressed by his knowledge, command of English and smooth communication throughout the tour. He was very flexible with the itinerary, just like you said.

A divine turtle inside Forbidden City, Beijing.
Dear Sophie,
I first wanted to thank you for taking such great care in setting up our tours for myself and two Sons. The Tour escourts were very knowledgable and great. We especially enjoyed Sophia our tour escourt in Beijing. She was great and we all enjoyed her knowledge and friendlyness.
We all enjoyed our visit to China.
I do have a favor if you will. I looked on the website of the Harmony Hotel, however could not find how to e-mail directly. During our stay March 11-12-13 I lost a money clip that had approxiamately 800 RMB with it. Could you check with the hotel and see if it may have been turned in by any chance? I remember getting on the elevator on the day of Saturday the 13th and heard something I thought hit the floor, it may have also went down the elevator shaft and be at the bottom. I am not as concered about the dollars as I am about the Money clip, as I had it for many years. I would appreciate if you could just check for me and e-mail me.
Thank you so much and thanks again for everything.

Cruising on the Yangtze River is like traveling in a fairyland.
To Vera,
I wanted to compliment your employee Sophie for her quick work and her helpful and caring attitude. On short notice, I had to arrange plane tickets and a tour guide for my 75 year old father and my cousin who are visiting China from the U.S.
I live in Wuhan and had arranged a Yangtze River Cruise for the two of them, but did not pay attention to the details of the trip. Their cruise ends in Chongqing and I thought it would be easy for them to travel by car back to Wuhan. When I realized on March 29 that they should fly back to Wuhan instead of drive, the start day of the cruise was only 2 days away on March 31. Sophie arranged a guide to meet them at the boat dock, take them on a quick tour of Chongqing and deliver them to the airport. She patiently helped with all the rushed details of payment – like getting faxes of their credit cards etd.
All in all, she was very helpful and kind and her responses by email were always fast and very clear. I appreciated her high level of customer service. My family has not yet received the services Sophie arranged as their boat arrives in Chongqing on April 4, but I am sure it will be of the same high level as the arrangements already provided.
As neither my father nor cousin speak any Chinese at all and it is my cousin’s first time in China, Sophie’s ability to communicate clearly in English helped a lot.
Regards,
Diane Sovereign

Sophie,
I write this email with a heavy heart, in many different ways. After the numerous emails we have exchanged I feel like you are more "friend" than "travel consultant." You have been absolutely wonderful to deal with.
Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to complete this trip arrangement with you right now -- for several reasons, none of which are anything over which you have control I feel terrible about this, since you have provided such terrific assistance and advice in putting this trip together. But don't throw it away -- I may need it later or even for friends.
After spending so much time helping me, I know you are disappointed, and I am very sorry for that. I wanted your supervisors and President of China Odyssey Tours to know what terrific service you had provided, so I send the Customer Service lady (Vera I believe) an email (which I have included below). The words in the email are no exaggeration, and I have told many people I work with about the excellent planning service you provided.
But even more so, I will provide reviews on Trip Advisor about this.
I'm so sorry it didn't work out to completion, but I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the warmth, courtesy, and expert knowledge and skills you demonstrated in working on this itinerary.
Thank you SO much!

Jim Cross's Attached Letter to China Odyssey Tours
Dear Sir or Ma'am of China Odyssey Tours,
For several weeks, I have been been working with Sophie Lu, one of your China Travel Consultants, on a very ambitious 24-day trip to China. As I mentioned above, I will not be able to book this trip at the present time. However, even though I won't be using your travel services at this time, I wanted to provide you with some feedback and comments and my experience with China Odyssey Tours in general and Sophie Lu in particular.
First, let me commend you on your web site -- it is fabulous. Well organized, easy to navigate, and has mountains of valuable information. While I was struggling to define my itinerary, I spent hours going through your standard tours and city and area information. It was absolutely invaluable. The ONLY complaint I had was I couldn't find the email address for the President or CEO when I wanted to send this note -- which is why I am sending it through Vera, your Customer Service Manager.
Second, what can I say about Sophie? She was incredible. From the first email I sent she has been very responsive, generally getting back to me within 24 hrs, or telling me why there might be a delay (such as during the New Year's holiday period). Her English (at least written, since I have not spoken to her directly) is very good and easy to understand. When I asked questions she gave me good, straight forward responses and answers -- and often volunteered extra information that made it easy for me to figure out my trip. She was very proactive, and when I didn't response immediately she always followed up with a re-transmittal of the information to make sure I had gotten it. I especially appreciated her expertise, knowledge and candor about what would or would not work in planning the trip.
By the end, I was extremely comfortable with the itinerary, and more importantly with the professionalism of China Odyssey Tours (and Sophie). Sophie is a real jewel, a terrific travel agent who clearly is customer focused, highly knowledgeable, and very proactive and responsive. I feel terrible that after all the assistance she gave me that I will not be using her services at this time. But rest assured, if I have future travel requirements in China she (and Odyssey Tours) will be the first I turn to for support. Please congratulate or recognize her for her efforts on my behalf -- and while this trip may not have been completed with Odyssey Tours I have become a huge fan of your professionalism.
To this end, I am going to post reviews on some of the travel sites (such as Trip Advisor) of Sophie's (and Odyssey Tours) services and will provide a strong recommendation that people turn to you for planning their trips to China. And she will stay near the top of my rolodex for future China travels.
Again, I am very sorry after all the work Sophie put into helping plan this trip that I cannot execute it with her. But this in no way should be a reflection on her or your company. She was absolutely wonderful.
Sincerely,
Dr. James B. Cross

Buddha of Luckiness the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian
Ms. Sophie,
Thank you so much for working to provide such a great trip! My father and I had a fantastic time.
Our tour guide, Iris, in Beijing was wonderful. She was very friendly, helpful and informative. She made our Beijing experience truly a once in a lifetime trip.
Our tour guide, Michele, in Datong was also wonderful. She was very informative and very flexible and helpful.
Our tour guide, Andrea in Xi'an was so kind and sweet to my father. She spent extra time making sure he had a great experience. We did not feel rushed at all.
My father and I travel together once a year, and this has been the best vacation we have taken. Thank you for your kindness and patience with me while booking this trip. I will continue to recommend your agency to anyone I know wanting to visit China.
Thank you!

A narrow lane in the Old Part of Shanghai, the Real Shanghai local people's lifestyle
Hi Karen,
Well, the time in China went so quickly. We returned home, taking so many nice photos as well as some enjoyable experiences along with us. You will get the picutures as always that we will send you later. Thank you for your assistance & thank you to the people (tour guides) who showed us the different cities & sites & also the drivers.
If I had to complain about anything, it would have to be the beds, not so soft as ours. I have filled out the individual city evaluations for your staff and maybe it is helpful to you. Some of the sights we saw were fantastic. For instance, the old part of Shanghai was far more interesting & would have loved to spend more time there. The trip by rail was not an experience as airways and I have flown with them many years ago and not much has changed.
My wife is in second thoughts of returning. I’m hoping to persuade her to try a trip down the Yangtze River & see more sights of China. 13 days was not really enough for enjoy the whole China, but enough for testing the water towns to get the feel to return someday. If that eventuates, I hope your firm will still be around to contact.
Thank you once again for a rememberable holiday!
Regards,
Malvin & Kim Whyte

Terrific Views of Li River, Guilin
Hi Sophie,
Thanks for your note. I do remember you. The Guilin tour was great. Had a really fun time. Fay was really a great guide.
Actually, I have a friend coming to Beijing and she would like to go to Xi’an on the 6th April. She will probablybe travelling on her own. Can you add the price for air ticket to the quote & itinerary?
I did not seem to find any proposal attached. Are you able to resend?
Cheers!

Repulse Bay, a fascinating bay in Hong Kong
Hello Maggie,
Sorry for the late reply, but I'm just getting to my emails.
Yes, I did have a very nice surprise in Hong Kong. :-) Thank you very much for helping him with that. It was a very lovely dinner!!
I've actually been so busy since I got back, that I haven't even been able to spend a day relaxing at home yet, but looking forward to that luxury this weekend.
I hope you have been well and you enjoyed a fantastic Spring Festival this year!
Thanks,
Kaicee

Fantastic Horse Ice Curvings of Harbin Internation Ice and Snow Festival
Greetings to you, Maggie!
I have attached a note I have written regarding my nice trip to China.
Beijing is a surprise with it's magnificent new architecture. All three cities, Beijing, Harbin and Xian, were unique and I am glad I visited them. Next time, I want to go more into the country areas and Yangtze River. Any advice you can give me will be gratefully received.
Thank you,
Kayleen Freiberg
