My Grown Up Gap Year

Shared by Jo-Anne Smith

When I was 18 I moved to London and started working. In 2011 I turned 50 and decided it was time for my gap year. The year began with five months in India, seeing sights I've long dreamed of seeing. It also gave me the chance to hook up with my good friend Camilla who I met 20 years ago on Baga Beach in Goa! I moved on to South East Asia and spent a wonderful month in Vietnam. I loved the women who rowed around the limestone Karsts of Ha Long Bay selling anything and everything a traveller might want. Finally I spent a few days in Bali where the memories of the blue skies are getting me through the cold dark UK winter.
I'm looking forward to doing a lot more travelling. Maybe I'll have two gap years!
