Why Travel China?
Hello Laeticia!
I am sorry to have taken so long to write, but I wanted to thank you for all the work you did to ensure that we had such a wonderful time in China. This was truly the trip of a lifetime for us! I will often look at the pictures on my computer and reflect on all of the things that we experienced and the people we met. One of the real highlights was when we were able to meet you. You are a very sweet person and we consider you a friend of our family.
All of our guides and drivers did an outstanding job and treated us well. In
Beijing, Lucy was very helpful in acclimating us to China and helped us to be at ease. There was so much to see. Of course, a real highlight for me was to walk on the
Great Wall, but there was much, much more. Ellie was our guide in Xian and was also really good. She took good care of us and we learned a lot from her. We were especially thrilled with the
Terra-cotta Soldiers. One of the other great memories of Xian was our bicycle ride on the
old city walls.
Please send our greetings to our Guilin guide Chen and our driver, Mr. Lee. Again, they were both great and so helpful. Chen will probably remember the out of shape couple trying to climb
Fubo hill. The whole area there was so scenic and we had a chance to see what life is like in a more rural part of the country when we went to Yangshuo. I think I may have scared Chen when she rode on my scooter through town!
Our last stops were
Shanghai and
Suzhou. Here our
China Odyssey Tours guide was Adone. He was an excellent guide. Unfortunately, my son Cameron wasn't feeling too well on our second day, so I visited a couple of sights alone in the morning with Adone. It was really like just a couple of friends walking along and talking. If you have the opportunity, please say hello for me. I wish that I would have gotten everyone's email address.
I could spend the evening writing about all of the things that we did, but I will simply end with "Thank you so much!" It seems odd to me now that some people will say to me "Why China?". It was a fantastic experience which we will always remember, and we learned a lot. I hope that some day we will be able to return.
Sincerely,
Alan,Jan and Cameron Fisher
