The Reason Why the West Street is called "the Golbal Village":

The West Street in Yangshuo is an ancient street with a history of more than 1400 years. Walking on the flagging of this street, you may see more than 100 various bars, restaurants, and exquisite shops sell souvenirs and crafts, among which about 20 are run by foreigners.

Maybe it is the reason why Yangshuo is also called "the Global Village". The foreigners in the West Street have become a vision of loveliness.

Some Famous Foreigners Living in the West Street:

The Le Votre Restaurant is run by two French men. They are brothers. The unsurpassed Karst Mountains and rivers, comfortable lifestyle, and mysterious Chinese culture attract them deeply so that they are reluctant to leave Yangshuo.

They married local girls and live a life like in a heaven of peace and happiness. They often appear in CCTV and call on people to travel to Yangshuo. They are called by media to be the "foreign sons-in-law" who make great contributions to Yangshuo's tourism.

There is a couple who are professors in a university from Australia. They are also attracted by the picturesque scenery and unique culture of Yangshuo. They sold their house and moved to Yangshuo.

They become English teachers in a foreign language school in Yangshuo. They often go to the remote schools to teach pupils English free of charge.

 

In order to become the formal villagers of the "Global Village", some foreigners become rock climbing guides, some are guitar player, and some are waiters in bars, etc. They get along with locals harmoniously and drift into Chinese culture.
