10 Days Guizhou Ethnic Minority Festival Tour

Day 1

Upon your arrival at the Guiyang Airport, you will be met by your guide, who will escort you to your hotel. Guizhou is nicknamed 'The Kingdom of Mountains', because 87% of its land is comprised of mountains and plateaus. After dinner you will visit the Hequn Night Market, which will introduce you to the most popular and spicy snacks in Guiyang. Stay overnight in Guiyang.

Day 2

On this morning you will feel like a local, when you join the groups of people doing morning exercises in the People's Square. You will learn Taiqi, Waist-drum Dancing, and playing with the traditional tops famous throughout China. After lunch, you will be driven 220 kilometers (2.5 hours) along scenic mountain roads to Kaili. You will visit the Kaili Museum. Stay overnight in Kaili.

Day 3

You will be driven to Chonganjiang, 3 hours. On the way you will travel through the beautiful countryside with its terraced rice fields and quaint towns. Once in Chonganjiang you will see the Miao minority's Lusheng festival. You will be welcomed to share in the festivities and witness their dancing, traditional costumes, rooster fights, bull fights, and horse racing. Stay overnight. After the festivities you will be driven back to Kaili. Stay overnight in Kaili.

Day 4

On this day you will be drive to Gulong Village in Huangping County 45 kilometers (1 hour). You will arrive in the middle of a Lusheng Festival. In Gulong, the festival activities are similar to those in Chonganjiang, except that over 1,000 bamboo pipes are played simultaneously, a spectacle not to be seen anywhere else in the world. In the evening you will be driven back to Kaili. Stay overnight in Kaili.

Day 5

You will be driven from Kaili to Rongjiang via Sandu 204 kilometers (5.5 hours). On the way you will visit the beautiful Chejiang Dong ethnic minority village and the grove of ancient Banyan trees. Stay overnight in the Rongjiang Guesthouse.

Day 6

On this day you will driven to Congjian 76 kilometers (2 hours), to visit the village of Basha, a small Miao ethnic minority village, and the village of Yintan, a Dong ethnic minority village. Stay overnight in the Congjiang guesthouse.

Day 7

You will be driven to Zhaoxing 90 kilometers (3 hours) on this morning to visit Zhaoxing, one of the largest Dong villages in the region. After dinner, you will be entertained by the Dong minority group's welcoming ceremony. Stay overnight in Zhaoxing.

Day 8

On this day you will be driven to the town on Sanjiang in Guangxi Province 110 kilometers (5 hours). The town is inhabited by the Southern Dong, one of the two subgroups of the Dong ethnic minority group. You will then be driven to the quaint little village of Chengyang, a short drive away from Sanjiang. Stay overnight in Sanjiang.

Day 9

This morning you will leave Sanjiang and be driven to Longsheng 80 kilometers (2.5 hours) to visit the ancient terraced rice fields. In the afternoon you will be driven to Guilin 160 kilometers (2 hours). Stay overnight in Guilin.

Day 10

You will be free in the morning until your guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to your next destination
