Getting around Hong Kong

Hong Kong, often called "the Oriental Pearl", is an extremely exciting city and has been a popular tourist destination for many years. It has convenient modern transportation facilities. You can get there by train, airplanes or bus.

Getting Around in Hong Kong:

By Taxi:
The easiest means of getting around in Hong Kong is by taking one of its many taxis. The drivers are always happy to give advice to visitors. Visitors do not need to worry about not being able to get back to their hotel, because every hotel will offer its guests a business card written in Chinese and English that will inform the taxi drivers where you are staying and how to take you back there.

By Bus:
There are a lot of public bus lines which can take you to the every corner of Hong Kong. Taking the bus is one of the best and most convenient ways to get around the city. Change is not given, so it is important to make sure visitors carry exact change with them. The public buses make stops at all of the city's major sites and the commercial centers. The busses that travel around Hong Kong are quite convenient. You can take a bus to travel to the areas around Hong Kong or travel to nearby cities such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou. There are several bus stations in Hong Kong. Express buses are available connecting the major tourist spots, such as the Repulse Bay, the Ocean Park, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

By Bicycle:
A very popular mode of transportation around Hong Kong is the bicycle. It is the perfect way for visitors to explore the city. It offers visitors the chance to stop where they would like, for as long as they want. Bicycles can be rented in many hotels.

By subway:
More and more people prefer to go out by subway. Hong Kong’s subway system is very convenient and fast. But usually it is very crowded.

As with all public transportation systems, it is important for visitors to keep an eye on their possessions when using them.

Getting Around China

By Air:
The Hong Kong International Hotel is located 34km (21 miles) northwest of Hong Kong Island. It is one of the busiest airports in the world and has flights to many international destinations as well as destinations throughout China. It can be reached by the subway, a ferry, and numerous public bus lines.
