Shanghai Upgraded Security Checks for Expo, Shanghai Travel Tips

Shanghai had upgraded the security check for the World Expo by applying series of special safety regulations since April 15, 2010. All of the safety regulations were applied to assure Expo visitors of a secure and memorable Expo, the Shanghai Municipal Government spokesman said. 16 days later, the grand 2010 Expo Shanghai will open and now Shanghai is working harder for an exceptional and sucessful expo.

Special security-checking measures had been adopted by both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao (Rainbow) International Airport. All air passengers are required to have their luggage carefully checked before entering the waiting halls or terminals, which might take a while. So air travelers are advised to get to the airports as early as possible, in order to avoid any bothering delays.

Named ticketing system had been adopted for long-distance travelling to or out of Shanghai. So coach takers must take their ID cards, passports or other valid certificates along with them in case of regular checks on road.

Shanghai subway travelers should be aware of the tightened security checks. They will also have their takings checked before getting on the trains. So ligter taking might speed their transfers.

Some driveways in the metropolis had been defined as Shanghai Expo Exclusive Road by Shanghai Transportation Bureau. These driveways are only available to the Expo vehicles during the Expo period, namely from May 1 to October 31, 2010. Shanghai Traffic Police also added that motorbicycles are forbidden to run on the roads around the Expo Park.

Shanghai Taxi Hotline was also launched for Shanghai Expo visitors on the same day on which the new regulations become effective. If visitors want to take a taxi to or in the surrounding areas of the Expo Park, they can dial 96822 in advance to call a taxi.
