Streets with Different Characteristis in Shanghai
Shanghai streets reflect the city's historical change, featuring both modern and traditional architecture, stunning views and top malls.
The streets of Shanghai are not so broad. There are a lot of Chinars flourishing on the both sides of the streets in spring and summer. Walking on the streets and smelling the aroma of the gardenias, the pedestrians are endued with an agreeable and leisure feel.
Hengshan Road--the street of public house
It seems the Hengshan Road under the leafy chinars is the most classical public house street in Shanghai to say that Shanghai is the most distinctive public house city in China. The longest public house street in the locality includes the areas along the Hengshan Road, Urumqi Road and Dongping Road. When roaming along these streets you would be mesmerized by the twinkling neon all your ways.

The Nanjing Road is the most busiest and luxuriant commercial strip in Shanghai. Serriedly, the row upon row of thousands of stores line on both sides of the Nanjing Road where has practically concentrated the commercial quintessence of Shanghai, it is strictly worth the name of "shopper's paradise". Most of the big stores on both sides of the East Nanjing Road centre about on Tibet Road, such as Zhongbai Yidian, New World Commercial Building, Boutique World, Fashion Company, Food Company, Pharmaceutical Company, Huali Commercial Building, Oversea Chinese Store etc. There are also many well-known featured stores on the Nanjing Road, for instance Peloman, Hensen's Suit, Peng Street, Hongxiang Ladies Apparel, Mankton, Renli Fashion, Long and Feng Traditional Chinese Clothes, Heming(The cranes screaming), Lan Tang, Bobu Leather Shoes, Shengxifu's caps and Zhangxiaoquan' s Cissors and the like. There are a whole passel of hotels, restaurants, confectionery stores on the Nanjing Road, which provide opportunities for the sight-seers from different parts of the world to enjoy the cates in different cuisines. The night on the Nanjng Road is beautiful and appealing, the technicolored neon decorate the whole street and give you a dazzling feel and make your eyes are always keeping occupied in the lights sea. At this present moment, your breath might be taken away in astonishment.

Cultural Street---Duolun Road
Duolun Road (formerly named Doulean Road transliteration)is a small street in Shanghai, near the North Sichuan Road. It is stated that"a hundred years' history of Shanghai, witnessed in Duolun Road, a very small street". There were many renowned Scholars and literary men lived in this small street in early 20 century. Such as,the literary giants, Luxun, Maodun, Guo mo-ruo and Ye sheng-tao etc. and the authors of "The Left-wing Authors Alien, for example, Ding Lin and Rou Shi, and their literary activities instituted this place-- "a key position of modern literature", in the meanwhile, it was endowed with "an open museum of Shanghai-style construction" by the far-famed Gongfei Café(relic) and Honde Hall, and the residences with various styles, for instance, Kong(xiang-xi) Residence, Bai(Chong-xi) Residence and Tang(En-bo) Residence. Above all, a strong flavor of culture has been formed in this street by famous men of letters such as, Qu Qiubai, Chen Wangdao, Zhao Shiyan and Uchiyama Kanzo(Japanese), and by the major cultural spots e.g. Jinyun Lane, Arts University of China, Arts Drama Troupe and many other residences of celebrities and many other lanes in old Shanghai fashion, whenever people who linger on this road to enjoy themselves so much as to forget to go home.

Lovers Street-Tian Ai Road
The words "Tian" and "Ai" in Chinese meaning means "sweet" and"love". Hearing this name you would see that it is a roaming road for the lovers, which near the Shanyin Road in Hongkou District. As a branch of the main road, the road is clear of traffic and its surface is not so wide. On both sides of the road, the tall chinars are flourishing and the old iron grilles are flecky ironmould. Under the cover of the old tendril climber plants, the hollowed-out grilles look like many green walls and screen pedestrian's view. They will bring about you a sense of mystery when you wandering along this road. In the summer days, you can see many red flowers dotted on the green walls quiescent and relaxant. The Potpourri, the fragrance of leaves and the old breath attract many lovers. Rambling on this road, the lovers all wish their love just like the name of the road---"sweet" and "love".
The constructions on both sides of the Huaihai Road are modern and lordly and the upholsteries of the stores are noble and elegant.
Shopping Street-Huaihai Road
As a tourism and shopping street Huaihai Road shares a good reputation with the Nanjing Road. Huaihai Road (formerly named Xiafei Road transliteration), total length is about 6 km, it can be on a par with Avenue des Champs-Elysées(Paris), the 5th Avenue (New York City), Ginza(Tokyo) and Orchard Road(Singapore).There are more than 400 serried modern stores in Huaihai Road, it's most luxuriant and busy part is the shopping street (length 2.2km)from the Shaanxi ( a Province, capitol city is Xi'an) Road to the Tibet(A Chinese autonomous region since 1951, capital city is Lhasa) Road. The constructions on both sides of the Huaihai Road are modern and lordly and the upholsteries of the stores are noble and elegant. In this street, the constructions with the occident classic style, the Chinese classic style, the Continental fashion style and the cross-century metropolitan architectural style demonstrate different characteristics, and the strong leisured cultural aura of city is emitting whether in construction appearance or in their interior layout. The Huaihai Road has centralized the famous stores such as World Boutique, Printemps, Maisonmode and Huating Isetan.They display varieties of articles with world brand name in a lofty stance, which have made the shopping in Shanghai reach the world-class standard.

Snack Street- Wujiang Road
Wujiang Road is a famous snack street in Shanghai, by the Nanjing Road. This street not only boasts a fine collection of the famous delicate snacks from Zhejiang province or Shanghai but many delicious foods from the other parts of this country. For example the traditional Shanghai snack foods, Shengjian (the fried steamed bread and steamed buns with stuffing), Guotie(fried dumpling; pot sticker), grilled foods, Hong Kong-style crystal cake, the Guangzhou-style congee and noodles in Liyuan Restaurant are all very popular with Shanghai people. Food Street-Huanghe Road
Huanghe (Yellow River) Road is located in the north side of the People Square and near the Nanjing Road. To enter into the entrance of Huanghe Road, you would think that you are in a food supermarket because the tall and serried signboards are frequently beckoning you in. In this not-so-long Road which has assembled nearly a hundred different sizes of restaurants. Most of the restaurants specialize in Shanghai food or seafood. When business is good, the 6-story-high Lai Tian Hua Restaurant usually be full house, let alone the only one-story Restaurant. More heads, narrowish street and restaurants, room is so limited here that the restaurateurs compart their only one- story restaurants into two-story to make the utmost effective use of the restaurants room. Looking out of the windows, the second floors of the restaurants seem to hang low in the air. Probably, it is a distinguishing feature of the Shanghai lanes
