COT-SZT-N09 Suzhou Discovery Tour

After breakfast, you will pay a visit to Tongli water town along the way to Suzhou (about 1.5-hour drive from Shanghai). Today you will pay a visit to the Garden of Seclusion and Meditations, Pearl Pagoda, Triple Bridge, Ming and Qing Dynasty Street. After your trip to this beautiful village, you will be driven to Suzhou (20 minutes drive). Over night at Suzhou.

Tongli: a beautiful water town with over 1,000 years old, it has been called Tongli since Song Dynasty because the initial one Futu (meaning Rich Land) sounded too luxury. Having abundant waterways and bridges, notable liberators and mansions with spacious halls and extensive gardens, Tongli is praised as 'Oriental Venice', 'Natural Photo Studio' and 'Ming and Qing Dynasty Architecture Museum'.

Your tour in Suzhou includes: the quiet Lingering Garden and the Pan Gate. Enjoy the gentle breeze while cruise on the Grand Canal. Later visit the No.1 Silk Factory to learn how the pure silk products are made from a small cocoon. Enjoy the Garden Show in the evening.

Lingering Garden: is one of the four most famous classical gardens in China.  Constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), it is famous for the way it artistically dealt with space, and seamlessly combined various pavilions into the picturesque landscape.

The No.1 Silk Factory: Suzhou is famous for its silk production.  In this factory you can learn more about silk production and the detailed steps involved in the silk making process.

Pan Gate: an ancient city gate with land and water entrances. One gate with land and water entrances was quite typical in ancient China. Pan Gate is only left.

Grand Canal: ranks alongside the Great Wall of China as one of the country's greatest engineering achievements.  It is the longest man-made waterway in the world. Cruising along the canal, visitors can see the life of the local people as it has been for centuries.

Garden Show:  You can enjoy the traditional Chinese dramas, folk instruments performance and so on in the Garden.

Take a 30 minutes Rickshaw ride then visit Ouyuan, Hanshan Temple. Take afternoon train to your next destination.

Rickshaw ride: Sitting on the rickshaw through the old town of Suzhou, you will see the small Hutongs,the open markets and the local people's life.  

Ouyuan: one of the famous gardens in Suzhou, where you can see the local opera under the Pavilion of the Ou garden. 

Hanshan Temple: It used to be one of ten most famous temples in China where ther are a lot of cultural relics.
