Suzhou, famous for its beautiful landscape gardens with exquisite architecture, is an extremely popular tourist destination. It has convenient modern transportation facilities. You can get there by train, airplane or bus.

Getting Around in Suzhou

By Taxi:

The easiest means of getting around in Suzhou is by taking one of the many taxis. The drivers are always happy to give advice to visitors. Visitors do not need to worry about not being able to get back to their hotel because every hotel will offer its guests a business card written in Chinese and English that will inform the taxi drivers where they are staying and how to take them back there.

By Road:

Land transportation in Suzhou is quite convenient. You can take the bus traveling around Suzhou. There are several bus stations in Suzhou. Express buses are available connecting the major tourist spots such as the Lingering Garden, the Humble Administrator's Garden, and Suzhou's No.1 Silk Factory.

By Bus:

There are many bus lines that can take you to every corner of Suzhou. Taking the bus is one of the best and most convenient ways to get around the city. It costs one Yuan per person to take the bus. Change is not given, so it is important to make sure visitors carry exact change with them. The public buses make stops at all of the city's major sites and the downtown commercial centers.

By Bicycle:

The primary mode of transportation around Suzhou is still the bicycle. It is also a perfect way for visitors to explore the city. It offers visitors the chance to stop where they would like, for as long as they want.

Getting Around China in Suzhou

By Air:

Located 22 kilometers away from Suzhou's city center, is the Suzhou Guangfu Airport. Now it is an airport only for the Army. There is another public airport in Wuxi (near Suzhou). Taking air is the quickest and most convenient way to get around China. Visitors can get there by bus or by taxi. Wuxi Airport is connected with all of China's major cities by air.

By Train or Bus:

Getting around China by train or bus is the most common way to get to most cities. It is recommended that visitors be cautious about their belongings and personal safety while using these two modes of transportation. Suzhou has two train stations. One is the Suzhou Railway Station, and the other is the Suzhou West Railway Station, which is only for freight operations. Suzhou has four main bus stations as well. There are two basic kinds of buses, Regular and Speedy. The Regular buses are slower and their condition is not as good as the Speedy ones.
