Day 1
Upon your arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be met by your local guide and escorted to your hotel in Lhasa city (2-hour drive), you will view a Giant Stone Buddha carved into a cliff face en route. After checking in the hotel, rest for a while to get adapted to the high altitude.
Day 2
Your tour today will include Lhasa's cardinal landmarks, the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the flourishing Barkhor Street.
Day 3
On this day you will be driven from Lhasa to Gyantse (about 256km, 5.5-hours). Along the way you will visit Yamdrok Lake and a Tibetan family. After arriving in Gyantse, you will tour Palcho Monastery.
Day 4
After breakfast you will be driven from Gyantse to Shigatse (about 90km, 1.5-hour). In Shigatse, you will visit Tashilumpo Monastery and the free market.
Day 5
On this morning you will be driven back to Lhasa (280km, about 6 hours driving) along the Yaluzangbu River. En route, you will be amazed by the beautiful valley along the way.
Day 6
This day you will enjoy the Shoton Festival in Lhasa. You have to get up before dawn to go to the Drepung Monastery, where you will be able to enjoy the beginning of the Shoton Festival, the unfurling of a massive Buddha tapestry that covers the entire hillside. Visitors have never failed to be inspired by the strong religious atmosphere consisting throngs of spectators, Senior Lamas' and monks' chanting sutras combined with deep piercing bellow from two giant horns. In the afternoon, you will go to the Norbulingka Park to enjoy Tibetan operas and dramas.
Day 7
On this day you will be free until your guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
Notice: The Shoton Festival is held every year on the 30th day of the sixth month on the Tibetan calendar, which is usually during the end of August till the beginning of September.
