Day 1  Arrive Beijing

Upon your arrival at the Beijing airport, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and recover from jetlag.

Day 2  Beijing (B,L)

Sites visited: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutongs
Optional Add-on: Peking Duck Dinner
On this day you will first visit Tiananmen Square followed by the magnificent Forbidden City. In the afternoon you will explore Beijing’s Hutongs by pedicab and walk along the Houhai (back sea) bar street.

The empress Cixi embezzled huge amount of public money building this imperial Marble Boat.

Over 50,000 kilometres length Great Wall offers visitors several areas for hiking.

Day 3  Beijing (B,L)

Day 4  Beijing / Xian (B,L)

After breakfast, you will visit Beijing's spectacular Temple of Heaven and enjoy watching the locals doing their morning exercises before being escorted to the airport for your flight to your next destination.Upon arriving in Xian, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out to discover what this amazing city has to offer.

Day 5  Xian (B,L)

Sites visited: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Ancient City Walls, Forest of Stone Steles Museum, Xian Art Ceramics Factory
You will visit the incredible life-size Terracotta Warriors and Xian Art Ceramics Factory in the morning. After lunch, you will visit the Ancient City Walls and the Forest of Steles Museum.

Ancient City Walls is a great place to see the comparison between the modern and the ancient.

Day 6  Xian / Lhasa (B,L)

Sites visited: Big Wild Goose Pagoda
After breakfast, you will tour Big Wild Goose Pagoda before your guide escorts you to the airport your flight to your next destination-Lhasa. Upon your arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to the hotel in Lhasa city (2-hour drive), you will view the Stone Giant Buddha engraved in the mountain face en route. After checking in the hotel, rest in the afternoon to get adapted to the high altitude.

Sites visited: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street
Your sightseeing today will include the Lhasa's cardinal landmark -- Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and flourishing Barkhor Street.

Day 8  Lhasa (B,L)

Sites visited: Norbulingka Park, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery
Today we will bring you to the Norbulingka Park, the Drepung Monastery and the Sera Monastery.

Potala Palace is the holiest temple in Lhasa.

The well decorated Norbulingka Park was the summer home of the Dalai Lama.

Day 9  Lhasa / Chengdu (B,L,D)

Free in the day until our local guide escorts you to the airport for your onward flight to your next destination--Chengdu. Upon arriving in Chengdu, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel for a rest.

Day 10  Chengdu (B,L)

Sites visited: Jinli Old Street, Tea houses, Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, Wenshu Temple
On this day, you will visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, followed by a trip to the Wenshu Temple where you can spend some time sitting in its tea house enjoying a cup of traditional Chinese tea and absorb the special atmosphere of Chengdu and Jili Old Street.

Day 11  Chengdu / Guilin (B,L)

You will be free until your local guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to your next destination-Guilin. Upon your arrival in Guilin, the most scenic city in China, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this dynamic city for a little adventure on your own.

Day 12  Guilin / Longsheng / Guilin (B,L)
Accommodations: Guilin Park Hotel
Sites visited: Yao People, Zhuang People, Longji
Today's excursion will bring you to Longsheng Autonomous County. After your tour of this breathtaking area, you will be driven back to Guilin (2-hour drive).

Ethnic Yao women are especially skilled in weaving, embroidery and dyeing.

Day 13  Guilin / Yangshuo (B,L)

Sites visited: Li River Cruise, West Street(Yangshuo)
After breakfast, you will be driven to Zhujiang Pier (40-minute drive) to start your boat cruise down the picturesque Li River, which is the highlight of any visit to Guilin, until you get to Yangshuo County. Along the river, you will be inspired by breathtaking views of peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear water and picturesque pastoral views of rice paddies and water buffaloes. Visitors feel they have stepped into a traditional Chinese painting. After checking into your hotel, you will be free to explore Yangshuo and its famous West Street.

Day 14  Guilin / Shanghai (B,L)

Sites visited: Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin South China Sea Water Pearl Museum
Today, you will be driven back to Guilin (1.5-hour drive), where you will tour Elephant Trunk Hill, the Reed Flute Cave and the South China Sea Water Pearl Museum before your guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to your next destination-Shanghai. Upon your arrival at Shanghai, China's most cosmopolitan city, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this amazing city for an adventure on your own.

Day 15  Shanghai (B,L)

Sites visited: Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Garden, Yuyuan Market, Jiangnan Silk Workshop

On this day you will visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, which chronicles Shanghai’s past, present and future, then take a stroll through the Yu Garden. After, you can observe local people’s life at the Yuyuan Market and immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of the Jade Buddha Temple. Visit the Jiangnan Silk Workshop during the tour.

The bund is Shanghai's landmark where has dozens of historical buildings.

Acrobatic show is famous for its wonderful performance and long history.

Day 16  Shanghai / Final departure (B)

Sites visited: Jinmao Tower, The Bund, Nanjing Road
After breakfast, you will walk down the Bund along the Huangpu River and visit Nanjing Road, and then get a bird's eye view of Shanghai from the Jinmao Tower. Be transferred to the Pudong international airport by Maglev Train. You will be amazed at the speed of its 430 km per hour speed. (Note: the driver will transfer your large luggage to the airport separately.)

Meals

Most meals are included as specified in the itinerary. Meal codes are: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.

Breakfast - Each breakfast will be served in your hotel. Breakfast selections include both Chinese and Western dishes to meet every diner's taste.

Lunch - Lunches are normally arranged at the Chinese restaurants near the scenic spots. Your tour guides will order food according to your appetite. Most are Chinese dishes, and some are modified to fit westerners' tastes. A complimentary glass of beer or soft drink is served with lunch.

Dinner - Same as lunch. If you prefer to not eat Chinese food, China Odyssey Tours suggests you have dinner on your own. Your local tour guide can recommend some good western restaurants in the area.
