Meals

Normally China Odyssey Tours provides two meals each day: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.

Breakfast

It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, Chinese style, or a combination.

A la carte lunch

When plan your lunches, we consider the balance of food quality, dining environment and tour convenience. We provide a la carte lunch in a local restaurant whenever possible. A la carte meal will give you an opportunity to eat at local restaurant, follow local customs, and taste local dishes. The a la carte allowance would be adequate for a decent meal in our recommended local restaurants, but varies from different restaurants and different cities. However in some remote regions where it’s simply hard to find a non-tourist restaurant, the meal could be arranged at a local tourist restaurant or a local family.

Your own dinner choice

Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in China. This is why we provide you this flexibility of food choice. Your private guide will always give you good suggestions based on your preferences.

If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Private Guide & Transfer

You will have a private tour guide, private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle escorting you at every destination you travel. This will provide you with maximized personal care, security, and flexibility.

All of our tour guides are qualified professionals and registered English Speaking Tourist Guides in China who are reassessed annually. All of our tour vehicles are clean and in excellent condition, manned with licensed safe drivers.

Private Tour Guide

You will always be greeted punctually on arrival at each destination airport. At every departure, your guide will stay at your side until you have checked in and passed through the security checkpoint.

All of our travel guides in every destination are locals, who know the area well, they are very good at guiding you around and telling background stories of the tour sites, as well as showing you the secret spots for taking your best photos.

When changing your itinerary is needed due to unexpected reasons, your private tour guides will be more than accommodating in suggesting alternatives to ensure that you have a wonderful experience.

Private Transportation

With our comfortable and safe private transportation, your tour will be more relaxing and less tiresome, keeping you in the best spirits to make the most of your experience in China.

In every destination visited, your vehicle is air conditioned, clean, and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured, and very experienced.

To maximize your comfort, we use vehicles with extra space for you and your luggage. Depending on how many are traveling together, we generally use sedans or mini vans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small coaches (12-22 seats) for 5-12 people, medium coaches (33 – 37 seats) for 13 – 25 people, and large coaches (45 seats over) for more than 25 people.

Booked tour for 17 days with a first stop in Xian. Coco was an amazing guide, she is full of knowledge of the area and speaks really good English. She was very helpful to point us in the right direction for anything we wanted to explore on our own. Not sure we could have done much without her to translate and order food for us. Would highly recommend her ,Visited March 2014

This is the second time that we have used China Odyssey Tours to arrange our travel plans in Asia and once again Eric Kong did not disappoint. It is amazing how through email correspondence, he is able to personalize a tour that surpasses your expectations. Shanghai was our last stop on our 2 week itinerary and it was one of the highlights of our trip - what an amazing, modern and vibrant city it is. We have to say that our experience was enhanced by our guide Michael who could not do enough to make our stay special. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the sites that we visited, he also helped us specific items that we wanted to purchase. He never left our side, even accompanying us on the Maglev train to the airport on our departure day...the luggage arrived simultaneously at the airport via our fabulous driver Jackie. For three days we picked his brain and got wonderful insights into life in China and Shanghai.Luckily, Michael was back at the airport on our return to Shanghai - it was like being met by a friend as he took us back to our familiar lodgings. His connections are extremely valuable - with a single call, he was able to secure a reservation at a booked up restaurant for us on our last night (the hotel concierge was unsuccessful).Odyssey's recommendation of sites to visit were nicely balanced between old historic and new - they made Shanghai a city that we would love to return to. If you are looking for a very personal experience in China, we highly recommend China Odyssey Tours.Visited March 2014

Our tour guide Angela met us at the baggage claim after our trans Pacific flight and ushered us out of the airport to our waiting driver. The fact that I can not remember his name should not reflect poorly on him (I could barely remember my name at that point). For the three days we were there he negotiated the nightmare that is driving in Beijing with skill and a smile. We hit up the regular tourist spots; forbidden city, great wall, summer palace, Tian'anmen, temple of heaven. I will not bother to review these except to say all were spectacular. Our guide Angela was very knowledgeable and it seemed that the routes she chose kept us, for the most part out of the crush of other tourists. We had another guide for our tour of the Hutongs. Lisa was a very nice girl who managed to give the tour while chasing our rickshaw on a bike (very impressive). Angela was a great help to us the whole time we were in Beijing from pickup to check in to departure.

After a great time in Beijing our group of 5 Aussies were greeted at Xi'an airport by Jim Dang and the driver for the 2nd leg of our 12 day Odyssey private tour.We immediately felt at ease and reassured by Jim hospitality and friendly smile. Jim's great knowledge of Chinese history, especially Xi'an history was fascinating. All the attractions were better than expected, the Terracotta Warriors lived up to the hype, City wall electric car tour, Wild Goose Pagoda were fantastic. Xi'an at night is a vibrant happening city, Jim took us for a absolutely memorising night tour of the Muslim District, then for our best meal of the whole tour. The tastes and flavours of the food that Jim ordered was simply incredible. We were so happy with our time with Jim Dang, Jim has a unique style that immediately endears himself with everyone on the private tour. Thank you Jim!!I wholeheartedly recommend Odyssey Private tours and if you are going to Xi'an be sure to request Jim, you wont be disappointed. MichaelVisited February 2014

Our guide and driver in Xi'an were Ivan and Mr Wong respectively. We were beyond satisfied with both. From the moment they picked us up at the airport we knew we would be in good hands.

Ivan is a treasure, he really knows the area and its history. He is also very helpful. He not only recommended a very good reasonably priced restraunt, he also drew us a map of its location and wrote down the characters for it.

In Xi'an we saw the terracotta warriors, Muslim street and the ancient city walls. Obviously the terracotta warriors are the highlight of any trip to Xi'an but I also recommend renting a bike for the city wall, if you have the time.

After the tarracotta warriors Ivan took us to a local restraunt for lunch and helped us order. My mom expressed a wish for noodles which they didn't serve there so he went next door and got them to deliver some noodles to her. Due to scheduling we were unable to see the big goose pagoda. Ivan felt so bad that he took us to a local park with the most amazing fountain before we headed to the airport.

Although we only spent a short time there Xi'an will be one of our trips highlights thanks to the terracotta warriors and Ivan.
