Deluxe Hotel

Normally China Odyssey Tours provides two meals each day: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.

It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, Chinese style, or a combination.

A la carte lunch

When plan your lunches, we consider the balance of food quality, dining environment and tour convenience. We provide a la carte lunch in a local restaurant whenever possible. A la carte meal will give you an opportunity to eat at local restaurant, follow local customs, and taste local dishes. The a la carte allowance would be adequate for a decent meal in our recommended local restaurants, but varies from different restaurants and different cities. However in some remote regions where it’s simply hard to find a non-tourist restaurant, the meal could be arranged at a local tourist restaurant or a local family.

Your own dinner choice

Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in China. This is why we provide you this flexibility of food choice. Your private guide will always give you good suggestions based on your preferences.

If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Private Guide & Transfer

You will have a private tour guide, private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle escorting you at every destination you travel. This will provide you with maximized personal care, security, and flexibility.

All of our tour guides are qualified professionals and registered English Speaking Tourist Guides in China who are reassessed annually. All of our tour vehicles are clean and in excellent condition, manned with licensed safe drivers.

Private Tour Guide

You will always be greeted punctually on arrival at each destination airport. At every departure, your guide will stay at your side until you have checked in and passed through the security checkpoint.

All of our travel guides in every destination are locals, who know the area well, they are very good at guiding you around and telling background stories of the tour sites, as well as showing you the secret spots for taking your best photos.

When changing your itinerary is needed due to unexpected reasons, your private tour guides will be more than accommodating in suggesting alternatives to ensure that you have a wonderful experience.

Private Transportation

With our comfortable and safe private transportation, your tour will be more relaxing and less tiresome, keeping you in the best spirits to make the most of your experience in China.

In every destination visited, your vehicle is air conditioned, clean, and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured, and very experienced.

To maximize your comfort, we use vehicles with extra space for you and your luggage. Depending on how many are traveling together, we generally use sedans or mini vans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small coaches (12-22 seats) for 5-12 people, medium coaches (33 – 37 seats) for 13 – 25 people, and large coaches (45 seats over) for more than 25 people.

We recently completed a two day tour of Xian under the guidance of Jim Dang and driver Li from China Odyssey Tours and loved every minute of it. A big part in that was our guide, Jim – he made the trip fun, informative and carefree.

Our tour included visiting the Terracotta Warriors, Xian Art Ceramics Factory, Xian Ancient City Wall (which our guide recommended we experience by riding bikes along the top of wall – we loved this experience and highly recommend seeing it this way), Traditional Chinese Dance Show, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the Great Mosque, and Muslim Community.

Jim and Li were always very punctual, always where they had to be or where they had promised to meet us without us having to go look for them.

Jim was very informative, helpful and friendly, had great English and also a good sense of humour. Li the driver was also friendly, but a man of very few words, which was not a problem as Jim had all bases covered. Li’s quieter personality also allowed Jim to control the amount of communication between both of them, as well as between them and ourselves – who sometimes do need a little bit of quiet time. Jim knew when to talk and when to give us this quiet time.

Their van was very spacious and comfortable. It was definitely the best of which we travelled in throughout our overall trip. Being quite tall, this made a huge difference in not getting pins and needles. This was a problem for us throughout other parts of our trip where we had to travel in smaller vans. There was always had a good stock of cold water on hand. This was really important as the Xian heat of 38 degrees Celsius was quite dehydrating. Again, other tour guides encountered during our trip were not so well organised and did not always have water available.

For meals, Jim always gave us great options for where we could eat. We were never disappointed with his recommendations and had some incredible meals across our two day tour. Within each restaurant, we asked that Jim order for us as he knew the local food far better than us. It took the pressure off us and allowed us to sit back, relax and enjoy the Chinese delicacies.

Overall, we couldn’t recommend Jim and Li any higher. They, as tour guides made our Xian tour an absolute pleasure.

My wife and I were on a two-week trip to China which included visiting the Great Wall and six cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guilin, Tayuan, and Souzhou). While the majority of our trip was unguided, we hired Odyssey Tours for Guilin. It was worth every penny.

Our Tour Guide, Jesse, and our driver, Mr. Yu, were both very professional and exceeded every expectation. They were waiting for us at the airport when we arrived and drove us to our hotel. Jesse personally walked us to our hotel and did not leave until we had checked in. Thereafter, Jesse was usually waiting for us at the hotel lobby fifteen minutes earlier than we had agreed to meet and showed us around Guilin. The whole trip went as planned and Jesse made every effort to ensure we were having a good time. It was as if we were seeing Guilin with a friend and not a tour guide. Jesse was well educated, spoke flawless english, and possibly the most professional tour guide I've ever come across.

On our last day, we were driven to the Airport and Jesse did not leave until after we had checked in and passed security. He stuck around until the very last minute to make sure we did not have any issues at the airport.

Overall, we had a great experience booking our tour with Oddyssey tours but it was the tour guide, Jesse, who made it an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone traveling to Guilin.

We just returned from two weeks tour with China Odyssey Tours. The three days we spent in Guilin, "dragon Mountain/Rice Fields" and Yangshuo were probably the highlight of the trip.

The view all around was just breathtaking. We also did a wonderful memorable 4 hours cruise on the Li River ending in Yangshuo. Our guide, Jessica, was just excellent. Always had a smile on her face and always enthusiastic. She was very accommodating and although we had three very long days her energy level was amazing. Thanks to her the tour was a success. Over all we could not have been happier.

Jessica also took us to excellent restaurants. Probably the best food we had the entire trip. She is smart, helpful and just a superb tour guide.

In Guilin we stayed at the Shangrila. It is the best hotel in town and part of a reputable chain. However, compare to other hotels we had during the trip it was on the older side. Over all the hotel was great and comfortable.

In summary, we had wonderful time with an excellent guide.

We had 2 day private tour as part of our honeymoon taking in the caves, elephant trunk, folded hill, and the absolute highlight the River Li boat tour. The boat tour down the River Li world heritage site was outstanding, one the best experiences we've ever had. It was like something from a film set. The food was ropey on the tour but our excellent tour guide Robin had warned of that. We also stayed in the Shangri-La in a deluxe River View room which was worth the extra cost to wake up and go to sleep with such stunning views and opulent surroundings.

The only dampener on the trip was American Airlines losing our baggage. When we arrived in Guilin our bags we're still in Las Vagas. However Robin our tour guide made loads of calls and used his account manager at China Southern to get our bags to us the very next day. He even got them to bring them to the hotel for us. If it weren't for his stellar efforts we probably would have spent the next week travelling all over Vietnam without our bags. He really was a life saver and rescued our honeymoon from potential disaster,

Robin was a lovely and very interesting man, we both enjoyed spending time with him, learning loads of unexpected information about China.

The River Li is absolutely stunning and the other elements also really enjoyable. I couldn't recommend the trip and China Odyssey anymore highly. I would also highly recommend asking for Robin to be your guide, the man is a legend.

My husband and I travelled to Xian this summer and had the most amazing time. We were met at the airport by Jim and Mr Li, our personal guide and driver and were instantly impressed by the hospitality they gave us during our stay in Xian and careful planning to ensure we got the best experience imaginable. We did thanks to Jim's knowledge and the promptness of Mr Li. We had the most amazing time and were blown away by the Terracotta Army, but also had the most amazing cycle around the old city walls and into the Muslim quarter. We couldn't have wished for a better guide and driver. We wouldn' t hesitate in recommending China Odyssey Tours if you are planning a trip to China!
