Normally China Odyssey Tours provides two meals each day: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.

It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, Chinese style, or a combination.

A la carte lunch

When plan your lunches, we consider the balance of food quality, dining environment and tour convenience. We provide a la carte lunch in a local restaurant whenever possible. A la carte meal will give you an opportunity to eat at local restaurant, follow local customs, and taste local dishes. The a la carte allowance would be adequate for a decent meal in our recommended local restaurants, but varies from different restaurants and different cities. However in some remote regions where it’s simply hard to find a non-tourist restaurant, the meal could be arranged at a local tourist restaurant or a local family.

Your own dinner choice

Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in China. This is why we provide you this flexibility of food choice. Your private guide will always give you good suggestions based on your preferences.

If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Private Guide & Transfer

You will have a private tour guide, private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle escorting you at every destination you travel. This will provide you with maximized personal care, security, and flexibility.

All of our tour guides are qualified professionals and registered English Speaking Tourist Guides in China who are reassessed annually. All of our tour vehicles are clean and in excellent condition, manned with licensed safe drivers.

Private Tour Guide

You will always be greeted punctually on arrival at each destination airport. At every departure, your guide will stay at your side until you have checked in and passed through the security checkpoint.

All of our travel guides in every destination are locals, who know the area well, they are very good at guiding you around and telling background stories of the tour sites, as well as showing you the secret spots for taking your best photos.

When changing your itinerary is needed due to unexpected reasons, your private tour guides will be more than accommodating in suggesting alternatives to ensure that you have a wonderful experience.

Private Transportation

With our comfortable and safe private transportation, your tour will be more relaxing and less tiresome, keeping you in the best spirits to make the most of your experience in China.

In every destination visited, your vehicle is air conditioned, clean, and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured, and very experienced.

To maximize your comfort, we use vehicles with extra space for you and your luggage. Depending on how many are traveling together, we generally use sedans or mini vans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small coaches (12-22 seats) for 5-12 people, medium coaches (33 – 37 seats) for 13 – 25 people, and large coaches (45 seats over) for more than 25 people.

This part of our China Odyssey tour was outstanding. We stayed at the Renmin on Square and it was very comfortable with an excellent breakfast. Our guide Betty showed us the Terra-cotta Warriors, the Bell Tower, Muslim Street, and the Ancient City Walls. Betty was everything that you would want in a guide: knowledgable, friendly, sensitive to our needs and traveling interests, and fully committed to making our trip enjoyable. I know that when we return to Xian, we will request her as our guide again and I encourage others to request her as you are planning your trip and making reservations.

We had an excellent, unforgettable and enjoyable time with Babbitt, our private tour guide in Beijing. He was very personable that he was like family touring us around. Even the kids enjoyed his company. There wasn't any language barrier. He was very patient and always willing to help or assist in any way. And he has a great sense of humor.

And our driver was always prompt and his van was always clean.

We were also able to see numerous historical places within Beijing with Roger's help in setting our itinerary.

I highly recommend China Odyssey. From start to finish, they followed through.

Peggy, our tour guide from Guilin was excellent. Her explanation was very clear and detailed. She was also very patient and helpful to us. We travelled with our kids, and even our kids also enjoyed their trip in Guilin and Yangshuo. When we arrived at the Guilin airport from Chengdu, we didn't expect much from Guilin, but it turns out that Guilin is a wonderful city with a fantastic view. Thank you, Peggy for showing us the wonders of Guilin and Yangshuo!

Xi'an was an amazing sight to see. China Odyssey tours has been amazing every step of the way. Betty was our tour guide for our 4 days in Xi'an and she was outstanding. She made us feel at home, was very flexible and accommodating with our 7 year old boy. She was always checking in with us to see if we needed more water, snacks, rest etc. Her english is great too. She also took us to a local family to learn to cook and have a meal which was a highlight for us. Thank you so much!!!
China odyssey guides have always been on time, friendly and knowledgeable. They certainly exceeded my expectations. China is hard to navigate when you don't speak the language and they made it so easy.

Our tour through China Odyssey was wonderful! We chose the reverse Golden Triangle tour, and started in Shanghai. Our guide, Alex, picked us up from the airport, and even though we had a flight delay we had no issues meeting up with him. The Salvo hotel in Shanghai was not the best hotel of the trip, but it was still decent. The next day we toured the city, and there were so many great attractions to see! Alex was very nice and knowledgeable. However, he added some of the itinerary from the 3rd day to the 2nd day, so we felt a little rushed at a few of the last sites. The next day, we did not tour at all with Alex, since he had us cram more in the day before. He just dropped us off at the airport unnecessarily 4 hours early. This was probably the only downfall of the trip. When we landed in Xian, Irene picked us up and she was excellent! She really knew all of her history and was very friendly and caring. She got us settled in the hotel properly and then the next day we toured. Biking on the ancient city walls of Xian was definitely worth it! Also, the Terracotta Warriors were a huge highlight of the trip, and Irene was so knowledgeable with all of our questions. We even got a picture with the farmer who discovered the warriors! On the last day in Xian, we had some extra time and Irene even took us to the Drum Tower at our request..since it wasn't on our itinerary. It was so nice that she was willing to do that! Our driver in Xian, Mr. Ma, was also very nice, and when they dropped us off we were sad to leave them and our favorite city of the trip. Finally, we got to Beijing, and Shawn picked us up with Mr. Liu. Shawn was young and not only was knowledgeable about the history in Beijing, but was willing to share about his life in China and the culture there. He was very interesting to listen to. Him and Mr. Liu were great at accommodating us, so we could change before the night shows, and then pick us up after the show. It seemed like they were working overtime for us! :) The Great Wall day was amazing of course. It was great because Shawn let us walk around for a few hours by ourselves so we could take our time, hike, and take pictures. We had a perfect day with some blue sky. The pollution in Beijing was there, but not as bad as people made it seem. We could breathe without masks and we both did not feel any eye irritation. Also, our Crowne Plaza hotel in Beijing was very nice, and the best one of the trip! Overall, we learned so much about Chinese history and culture and the trip was very fun! Our tour guides were very flexible, and we never had a problem meeting up with them. The private tour was also great because we could hear everything and we only had to worry about our own speed at each site. I definitely would recommend China Odyssey to families, friends, or even single travelers! It was easy, and they took care of you so you had a fun trip without worry!
