Xian, the provincial capital of Shaanxi, is located in the central region of China, where is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. How to Travel to Xi'an

It is very convenient to travel to Xian from any major tourist destinations in China.

From Beijing to Xi'an

Beijing is approximately 1200 km away from Xian. Foreign tourists will be most likely to travel to Xian directly from Beijing for two reasons: first, Beijing is their first stop in China; second, Beijing to Xian is one of the most classic routes of China tours for Chinese history and culture.
Flight Beijing to Xian: approx. 1 hour 50 minutes.
Tourist train Beijing to Xian: approx. 10 hours, sleep overnight on the train.      
Fast train (planned to be operational in 2012): approx. 3.5 hours, traveling at approx. 350 km/hr.

From Shanghai to Xi'an

Distance between Shanghai and Xian is around 1300 km. In terms of the number of inbound tourists, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is 2nd after Beijing Capital International Airport. Travel directly from Shanghai to Xian is also very convenient.
Shanghai to Xian flight: approx. 2 hour and 40 minutes.
Tourist train Shanghai to Xian: approx. 14 hours, sleep overnight on the train.
Fast train (planned to be operational in 2012): approx. 5 hours, traveling at approx. 350 km/hr.

From Hong Kong to Xian

Hong Kong to Xian is approximately 2000 km in distance. Served as an international airline hub and a gateway into mainland China, Hong Kong is where you can conveniently connect your international travel with a China tour.
Hong Kong to Xian flight: approx. 2 hours and 30 minutes.

From Guilin to Xian

Guilin to Xian is approximately 1900 km in distance. Guilin famed as the "finest under heaven” is a must see place in China. Guilin (often via Hang Kong), Xian, and Beijing together make a classic tour route to see the best of China's culture and nature.
Guilin to Xian flight: approx. 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Tourist train Guilin to Xian: approx. 27 hours, not recommended.

From Chongqing to Xian

Distance between Shanghai and Xian is nearly 900 km. Chongqing is an excellent place to can connect a Yangtze River Cruise with a land tour of China.
Chongqing to Xian flight: approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Tourist train Chongqing to Xian: approx. 11 hours, sleep overnight on the train.
