Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival / Kunming
Upon arriving in Kunming, the city of eternal spring, your guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax with your loved one, or step out onto the city for a romantic night on the town.
Day 2: Kunming (B, L, D)
Sites visited: Stone Forest
Special Dinner: Western Dinner
On this day you will visit Kunming's famous Stone Forest, a bizarre rock formation created over millennia by rain and weather. In the afternoon you will be free to check out all that Kunming has to offer. After a romantic dinner of western cuisine, you will enjoy a special Yunnan Impression Show in the evening.
-Stone Forest (Shilin): A 270-million-year-old limestone karst formation of tightly bundled gray rocky outcrops, this natural wonder is known as the "World Karst Landscape Museum". The Stone Forest's rock formations have been shaped into recognizable shapes such as sword, mushrooms, tower, pillar, and a castle by millennia of weathering.
-The Yunnan Impression Show was staged by Yang Li Ping, China's foremost female dancer. It has toured around China and across the globe. The emphasis of the show is not on lighting or stagecraft, but on the dancers. This incredible show never fails to amaze audiences.


Day 3: Kunming / Lijiang (B, L)
Sites visited: Ancient Town, Lion Hill
After breakfast in your hotel you will be escort to the airport for your flight to Lijiang. Upon arriving in Lijiang, your tour guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. After a short rest, you will be driven to the amazing Lijiang Ancient Town and the Lion Hill located inside the ancient town. It is a day you and your loved one will never forget.
-The Ancient Town: Also called the Dayan Town was built during the late Song Dynasty and the early Yuan Dynasty. With a history of more than 800 years, this ancient town consists of ancient buildings and willow lined streams that flow along the colorful cobbled streets. Lijiang is home to over 22 different ethnic minorities. They can be seen daily in their colorful traditional dress living and working as they have for centuries. Strolling through this ancient town with that special someone is an unforgettable experience.
-Lion Hill: The hill's name comes from is resemblance of a lion playing with a ball. The mountain is known for its ancient pines and cypress trees which were planted during the Ming Dynasty. The Tower of Eternity located on the hill's summit offers bird's eye views of the ancient town and the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the distance.


Day 4: Lijiang (B, L, D)
Sites visited: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Baisha Mural Paintings, Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture
In the morning you will be driven to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, followed by a visit to the ancient Baisha Mural Paintings, and then the Black Dragon Pool Park and Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture.
-The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: The mountain got its name because from a distance the mountain looks like a flying dragon made of jade. The mountain consists of 13 peaks and is 35 kilometers long from north to south. Its glacier is the closest oceanic glacier to the equator in the Northern Hemisphere. A cable car will take you to a viewing platform on the mountain which offers unbelievable views of the surrounding scenery.
-The Baisha Mural Paintings: Located in Baisha Township, the mural paintings consist of 53 groups of mural paintings in different temples. Painted from the early days of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), these mural paintings are unique because they combine different religious cultures such as Buddhism, Lamaism, Daoism and the Naxi Dongba religion. The paintings are famous for their beauty and the expressiveness of the subject matter.
-Black Dragon Pool Park: The park is a gorgeous place to spend some time with your loved one while surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the world. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain can be seen in the distance and on a clear day its reflection can be seen in the Dragon Pool's calm waters. The pool is the water source for the Lijiang Ancient Town's water system.
-Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture: Located inside the Black Dragon Pool Park, the museum has comprehensive exhibitions on Naxi culture, traditional dress, Dongba script, and information on the Lijiang Ancient Town.


Day 5: Lijiang / Shangri-la (B, L)
Sites visited: Shigu (Stone Drum) Town, First Bend of the Yangtze River
In the morning you and your loved one will be driven to the town of Shigu (Stone Drum) to view the unforgettable First Bend of the Yangtze River and the Iron Chain Bridge. After, you will visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. In the late afternoon, you will be driven to Shangri-La (2 to 3 hours drive) for your romantic visit to this earthly paradise.
-Shigu (Stone Drum) Town: Perched on top of a green hill and overlooking the First Bend of the Yangtze River, Shigu Town has been witness to many historical events due to its strategic location. It is a natural ferry and a fortress which has been fought over for thousands of years.
-First Bend of the Yangtze River: Formed by the Yangtze River rushing down from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the First Bend of the Yangtze River is a sharp 45 degree turn located at Shigu (Stone Drum) Town before the river continues running northeast.
-Tiger Leaping Gorge: Located near Lijiang City between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Mountain, the spectacular Tiger Leaping Gorge is the world's deepest river canyon. The 15 kilometer (9.3 miles) long gorge was formed by the Yangtze River crashing through the area, which has some of the roughest and most spectacular white water rapids in the world.


Day 6: Shangri-la (B, L)
Sites visited: Bita Lake, Shudu Lake, Gedan Songzanlin Monastery
This day will be a wonderfully romantic one. You and your special someone will begin the day's sites by first taking a stroll along the banks of the Bitahai and Shudu Lakes. You will then be taken to visit the Gedan Songzanlin Monastery. In the evening you will visit a Tibetan family in their home and be introduced to their famous hospitality.
-Bita Lake: Located 35km away from Shangri-la County, the lake's name means the place where rabbits become felt. This gorgeous lake is the perfect place for a romantic stroll. The lake’s crystal clear water is surrounded by picturesque mountains. To keep the area pristine, you need to walk or ride a horse the final 7 kilometers to get to the lake.
-Shudu Lake: The lake is known for its clear water, and its peaceful, natural environment.
-Gedan Songzanlin Monastery(Guihua Monastery): Founded in 1679 AD, the monastery has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. It is the biggest and the most important monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in Yunnan Province. The architectural style of the building is a faithful imitation of the Potala Palace in Tibet's Lhasa City and has been nicknamed the Small Potala Palace.


Day 7: Shangri-la / Kunming (B)
On this day you will be free until your tour guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to Kunming.
