The most famous Chinese beer is probably Tsingtao, brewed in Shandong in the north of China, but by far the most popular in Guangxi is Liquan - the local beer brewed in Guilin.
Beer has been brewed in China for thousands of years but only really began to be popular since the 19th century. Like other most other Chinese beers, Liquan is a light lager or pilsner type beer. It comes in various strengths ranging from 5 -11% alcohol.
Liquan is noted for its fresh, refreshing natural taste and has won many awards. It is an essential ingredient in Yangshuo's beer fish.
Today, Liquan is a subsidiary of the Yanjing Beer Company, China's largest.
