Fuli Location and History

Fuli town is an ancient town near Yangshuo. It has a history of more than 1000 years. This town is surrounded on three sides by mountains and on one side by the Li River. It is a good cycling destination. Cycling from Yangshuo to Fuli may enjoy the passing by amazing scenery and local lifestyle.

Fuli town is the dock of the Li River. In ancient times, there were no highroads and railroads, so the Li River is the only way to communicate with the Yangtze River and the Pearl River. Due to the convenient transportation, more and more people settled here.

Fuli Village's Development and Culture

The landform is very complex in the ancient towns of Yangshuo, so there is much chaos caused by war here. A lot of people emigrate from different parts of China.

As time goes by, different cultures show diversification. People from Fujian province bring their God - Ma Zu. Fuli town is the only place that has Ma Zu religion in inland China. On the 8th day of the 5th lunar month, there is a big temple fair to worship the Ma Zu.

Fuli - Hometown of Hand-painted Paper Fan

Fuli town is also the hometown of "the hand-painted paper fan." Due to the long history and culture, there are many artists here.

Almost everybody here can paint nice pictures. The content they draw is mainly the unsurpassed beauty of the Guilin landscape, the stunning sight of Yangshuo County, and flowers, birds, fish, etc. It attracts many business opportunities to Fuli town.

Besides, kayaking from Fuli town to Liugong town to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Li River and local life is a nice experience. There are also other villages in Yangshuo that are worth exploring: Jinbao Village and Liugong Village.
