Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival will Open

Harbin International Snow and Ice Festival, one of the world's top 4 ice and snow festivals, will be held from January 5th to February 17th, 2011 in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China.

The 42-day festival is a real festival for locals, but a great winter gala for home visitors and overseas tourists to enjoy the special art, culture, sightseeing, and sports events created on snow and ice. What makes the festival more joyful is that it covers other three important Chinese festivals, namely the New Year Festival, the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. Traditional celebration activities have been prepared and arranged during the snow and ice festival.

Themed "Ice & Snow Fun and City Passion", this year's snow and ice festival is characterized by four sub-theme highlights.

Harbin, a beautiful ice city

To make Harbin a city of snow and ice wonders, the municipal government erects hundreds of snow sculptures all over the city and dresses main streets, buildings and the riversides of Songhua River with neon lights and other decorative lighting. Once visitors wander inside the city, they will feel like traveling in a real fairyland of colors and snow & ice artifacts.

Join us and enjoy yourself

To make the festival an actual festival to citizens and tourists, the host has scheduled a series of enjoyable programs such as a snow-splashing festival at Sun Island, a skating gathering at the huge ice valley near the Songhua River, open field skiing races at the Volga Manor, a snow carnival at the Beidahuang Farm.

China's first ice & snow Disneyland

The host has been working with the well-known American Disney Company to build a world-class ice Disney Park in Harbin. Meanwhile, an Italian corporate is helping construct a beautiful Snow Paradise on Sun Island.

A land of arts and world-class skiing resorts

With famous skiing places like Yabuli Skiing Base, Mao'er shan (Hat Mountain) Skiing Base, Pingshan Skiing Base, Harbin is trying to make itself a second-to-none skiing destination. With the amazing sculptural works made of snow & ice, international fashion shows, brilliant northern China cultures and long-held local traditions, the city is said to deserve the title of "A Land of Arts".

Take a Harbin tour for your winter holiday to savor the irresistible local delights now.
