To Carry Forward Taoism Culture

The 2nd China (Chengdu) Taoism Culture Festival was opened Tuesday at the Qingyang Temple in downtown Chengdu. The people of the Taoism circles from the US, Korea, Singapore, Norway, France, Japan, Malaysia and China's Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and Taiwan, Guangdong and Yunnan provinces were present at the event.

With the theme - Nature, Life, Harmony and Development, the festival featured strong and unique Taoism culture through various activities, including forums on Taoism culture, the performance of Taoism music, exhibitions of paintings on Taoism and musical instruments used.

Taoist masses. By reflecting the essence of Taoism culture, it is meant to let more people of the world know better the charm of Sichuan and Chengdu, said senior officials from Sichuan. Chengdu is the birthplace of the Taoism culture, which has long been of great significance to the city's social and cultural environment and economic growth, said Mayor Ge Honglin. He believed that the festival would carry well forward the Taoism culture, enrich the city's cultural endowment and play a positive role in shaping a more harmonious society.

During the festival, a large-scale program to mobilize society to donate for the schooling of students in poverty. A total of RMB4 million yuan will be used to help 1,000 students from poor families in the city.
