Day 1: Melbourne - Haikou
Take an international flight from Melbourne to Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province and the second biggest island in China. Upon arrival, your private tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to relax or to explore the seaside city on your own.
Overnight: Haikou

Day 2: Haikou - Guilin, Reed Flute Cave
Take a morning flight to Guilin. Upon arrival, meet your tour guide and be escorted to visit the Reed Flute Cave first, which is reputed as "a Palace of Natural Art". You may admire various stalactites and stalagmites under the colorful lights and learn how they were formed. Later on, stop at a pearl store to pick some gifts for yourself or your family and friends. Next, be transferred to your hotel in the downtown Guilin. The rest of the day is to explore this attractive city on your own.

Day 3: Guilin - Longsheng County - Guilin, Longji Rice Terraces
Get up early and enjoy your breakfast in the hotel, and then take a 2-hour drive to Longsheng County to admire the stunning views of the Longji Rice Terraces covering the hills like layers' of stairs. Longji literally means "dragon's backbone". When you climb to the top of the hills overlooking the nearby terraces, you will feel like standing on the back of a dragon. In addition, you will also have a chance to learn about ethnic minorities' daily life and their distinctive architectures in rural areas. After the tour, be driven back to Guilin.Overnight: Guilin

Day 4: Guilin - Yangshuo, Li River Cruise
After breakfast, drive to the pier about 40 minutes for your Li River cruise to Yangshuo. Along the river, you will be amazed by the picturesque landscape with verdant peaks, crystal-clear water and pastoral countryside scenery. The cruise usually lasts 3.5 to 4 hours depending on the water condition.
Disembark in Yangshuo, take a leisurely stroll through West Street and then arrive at your hotel. Relax or wander around the small town by yourself.
Optional: You may choose to enjoy a wonderful night show of Impression Sanjie Liu, which is the largest outdoor performance in China, with the Li River as the stage and mountains as the backdrop. It is about local life and minority culture, a wonderful experience that you won't forget for a lifetime.

Day 5: Yangshuo - Guilin - Shanghai, Countryside Tour
As an old saying goes, Guilin landscape tops those elsewhere, and Yangshuo landscape tops that of Guilin. You will find the reasons why tourists from all over the world will gather here if you come to the idyllic countryside of Yangshuo. Enjoy the peaceful villages, tranquil rice paddies, towering peaks and crystal-clear waters by bike or private vehicle for 1.5-2 hours.
After the tour, leave Yangshuo and be escorted to the airport in Guilin for a 2-hour flight to Shanghai.

Day 6: Shanghai, City Sightseeing
Start your tour from the Bund, where lots of great western-style architectures built in the 1920s erecting along the Huangpu River; then, proceed to one of the representatives of classical Chinese gardens, Yu Garden. Next, wander around the bustling Yuyuan Market and a silk workshop, where you may learn how white cocoons turn into colorful silk. Head to the Jade Buddha Temple, which is renowned for its exquisite milk-white jade Buddha brought by a Chinese monk from Myanmar in the 19th century.
End your Shanghai tour with a relaxing walk from Fuxing Park to Bugaoli. You will have a chance to see the locals enjoy their leisure time in the park, see the traditional Stone Gate (Stone Arched Gates) at Bugaoli and sample some popular snacks at a local market.

Day 7: Shanghai - Beijing
Enjoy your leisure time until your guide and driver transfer you to the railway station for your high-speed train to Beijing. Upon arrival, be escorted to your hotel and relax.

Day 8: Beijing, Heritage Tour
Your exploration today starts at Tiananmen Square, the political center of present China; then, walk into the imperial Forbidden City, where emperors worked and lived around 600 years ago. Be amazed by its imposing pavilions, elegant ornaments and lively historical stories behind it. Afterward, visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed to 'heaven' for a good harvest in ancient times, but nowadays a leisure center for the nearby residents.
Optional: You may enjoy a stunning night show, Legend of Kung Fu, by which you may learn the true meaning of martial arts in Chinese culture.

Day 9: Beijing, Great Wall
Today, you will visit Beijing's important landmark - the magnificent Great Wall - one of the world's most remarkable architectural wonders built over 2,000 years ago. After breakfast, be driven to the less-crowded Mutianyu section (with a cable car up and down) for about 2 hours. You may spend 2 - 3 hours hiking on the Great Wall and enjoy the majestic scenery around.
Afterward, take another 1-hour drive to visit Changling Tomb, the largest and best-preserved one among the 13 Ming Tombs near Beijing. En route, stop at a jade gallery to learn how to turn raw materials into masterpieces by Chinese traditional skills before returning to your hotel in Beijing.

Day 10: Beijing - Xi'an, City Highlights
Fly to Xi'an after breakfast. On arrival, your local guide will pick you up and escort you to your hotel. Afterward, start your city tour by walking through the bustling Muslim Street where you may see various shops selling a variety of interesting local delicacies, snacks, and souvenirs. Later on, visit the Great Mosque, the largest one in Xi'an and one of the four grand Islamic mosques in China. It has a history of more than 1,200 years.

Day 11: Xi'an, Terracotta Warriors
Today will be your most memorable day in Xi'an as you will uncover the mystery of the underground army of Terracotta Warriors. Marvel at the grand array with thousands of lifelike clay soldiers, horses and chariots in life size. You will be surprised at the different expressions on the face of each soldier. After that, stop at Xi'an Art Ceramics and Lacquer Factory to learn about the workflow of making terracotta warriors over 2,000 years ago. Finally, take back to the Xi'an city to visit its Ancient City Wall, which is strong and thick enough for you to cycle on the top of the wall and get a sweeping view of the city.

Day 12: Xi'an - Melbourne
Time to say goodbye. Today, enjoy your leisure time until your guide and driver pick you up and escort you to the airport for your return flight.
