About This Trip
The capital city of Qinghai Province is Xining, which means "peace on the western border" in Chinese. It is a typical immigrant city with diverse ethnicities and religions. For almost 2,100 years, Xining has been an important historical city in northern China. It served as a defending frontier city and an important halt along the ancient Silk Road. The highlights of this old city, including Dongguan Grand Mosque, Ta'er Temple, and Qinghai Lake, will be covered in this 3-day tour. You can also visit a local Tibetan family to see their daily life.

Day 2: Xining
Today's journey is to Qinghai Lake, which is the largest inland lagoon of China. It will take about 3 hours on road. After arrival, enjoy a boat ride on the lake and visit a local Tibetan family. The best time for birding at Qinghai Lake is from May to July; September is the right time to see large batches of geese starting their new journey to the warm south while it is the great time to view Big Swan from November to February though it will be pretty cold. If you happen to be in Xining either of the above months, don't miss the great chance.
