Itinerary

• Day 1: Arrival in Guiyang, Private Transfer to Leishan County

  Welcome to Guizhou, a mountainous province home to 18 ethnic groups! To ensure you an informative and comfortable tour, a knowledgeable guide and a veteran driver with a private vehicle will take care of you and your family throughout the trip. It will take around 3 hours from Guiyang airport to your Miao-style homestay in the Baibi Village next to the Thousand Miao Villages Xijiang. Check-in and enjoy dinner with local villagers.

• Day 2: Leishan, Explore Two Unrecognized Ethnic Groups

  In the many branches of the Miao ethnic group, Gejia and Xijia claim that they are distinct from other Miao groups, especially in language and customs. Today you will spend an hour walking around the area to observe their living environment and have the chance to photograph the local females in traditional dress.

  Later, enjoy a Miao batik printing experience, one of China's Intangible Cultural Heritages. After a detailed introduction to its origination and the dyeing process, you can try your hand at making batik printing work on your own.

• Day 3: Leishan, Long Skirt and Short Skirt Groups

  Be local this morning and join the villagers in their seasonal farming with your kids - a meaningful experience to learn about local life. Later on, following the guide, you will visit two villages, one for the long-skirt Miao and the other for the short-skirt Miao, distinguished according to their dressing.

• Day 4: Leishan - Danzhai - Dali Dong Village

  After breakfast, head to Shiqiao Village in Danzhai County to experience another of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage - ancient paper-making. It is interesting to see how paper is made from mulberry. With the help of a professional teacher, you and your kids will have a chance to create a piece of beautiful paper with unique flowers and plants pattern on it. When the tour ends, proceed to the Dali Dong Village in Rongjiang County for the night.

• Day 5: Full Day Activities in Dali Dong Village

  The Dong, also called the Kam, is the third-largest ethnic minority in Guizhou, famous for their polyphonic choir singing (the Kam Grand Choir). Besides this, their architecture and dresses are also distinctive. Spend a day exploring the village, watching the Drum Towers and wind-and-rain bridges, taking pictures with the locals in colorful dresses, and learning to sing the Dong songs.

• Day 6: Dali Dong Village, Hiking to a Waterfall

  After breakfast, follow a local leader to soak in the natural beauty while hiking to a waterfall on the mountain. Later, return to the village for lunch and then spend the afternoon staying with a local family, cooking Dong cuisine as dinner.

• Day 7: Dali Dong Village - Guiyang, Departure

  Enjoy leisure time before being escorted to Guiyang airport (about 3.5 hours on the road). Say goodbye to your tour guide and check in for your departure flight.
