I was in Antarctica and Odyssey Tours was recommended to me by another couple there that said Odyssey was Superb and were they right! From the very beginning my travel guide, Leo Huang, helped me plan my entire day to day itinerary and hand off from Beijing to Tianjin to my cruise ship. They provide a driver and a guide/translator for each day as well as made my hotel and meal arrangements to fit our needs. My wife is disabled and had medical needs and walking limitations so Leo helped us to solve some of these issues before hand over the seven months we planned the trip. Our daily guide, Julie, was just a fantastic knowledgeable person and she made our trip just great. She also assisted us to get the high speed train to Tianjin and helped us to get right to the ramp of our cruise ship! Odyssey Tours is a five star out of five star operation and I recommend them without reservation.

I had two days to explore Beijing and Leo, who arranged my tour at China Odyssey, had been recommended by a friend. We had extensive e-mail contact before I left for my trip which was very informative and friendly. I find it hard to believe that I saw as much as I did in 2 days. On the first day we visited Tian'anmen Square, The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, stopping for an excellent lunch. On the second day we drove out to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall which was not crowded and from which there were excellent views. Both the view and the history were astounding. I felt as though I were in a world completely apart. My guide Marjorie was extremely kind and helpful, offering fascinating information about the history of the Wall and taking good care of me on the challenging paving stones and steps. I was completely overwhelmed by the entire experience. We had a delicious lunch nearby and then drove to the Sacred Road where we walked slowly and with ease along the flat roadway flanked by large stone statues. Before leaving we had a tea demonstration at the teahouse. Our driver was excellent~ very pleasant and a good driver. Truly a trip to remember!

We had a fabulous tour! With very little time in Beijing our tour guide, Tracy, made the most out of every minute. She and our driver, Mr. Mu, picked us up at the airport, shuttled us to our hotel while giving us a city tour along the way. Tracy checked us in personally, gave us great recommendations for an evening walk and dinner. They were there the next morning right on time. While we toured Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, lunch and The Temple of Heaven, Tracy offered the best of explanations, guidance and answers to our many questions. We never felt rushed but took our time, enjoying a very relaxed but well-paced tour of each place. Nor did we ever feel we were a bother or asking too many questions. She and Mr. Mu both were gracious at all times. Tracy is a walking encyclopedia with quite the education, a wealth of knowledge on her country and more. Our day ended with a WONDERFUL Peking Duck dinner. The next day we were off to the Great Wall and The Sacred Road. This day proved to be equally as exciting and interesting. A lovely drive through the countryside, a nice lunch and plenty of time at each stop along the way. We could not be happier with the service, the care, the wealth of knowledge Tracy shared, the promptness or the price. A GREAT DEAL FOR THE MONEY. Thank you Leo, Tracy, Mr. Mu and Odyssey Tours for a wonderful visit to Beijing!

Have just returned from an Amazing Tour of “Tibet” & “The Silk Road” organized by China Odyssey Tours based in Guilin, there were 19 people (all over 53 years} and the Tour lasted 24 days. Last year we used Odyssey for a 26 day tour and this year our Travel Consultant from last, Leo Huang, excellent communications skills, again up together an itinerary which took in some of the Regular Tourist Attractions, but also gave us an insight into the life style of the local communities especially in the Uygher Region of Xinjiang. Our stay in Lhasa was enhanced by staying in the centre of the Old Lhasa with its Temples and Tibetan Shopping area. All of our Local Guides were excellent and we found it hard to select the best, so here they all are: Daisy (Kunming), Jake & Dolha (Lhasa), Leo, different one (Xian), Adam (Dunhuang), Nur Muhammad (Turpan & Urumqi), Abdul (Kashgar) and last but not least Steven (Beijing) In Beijing we also have to mention Aimy our special Hutongs Guide, who we also had last year, a huge personality lots of fun and laughs. A nicer and more informative group of people would be hard to find. Leo in Xian and Nur Muhammad in Turpan/Urumqi have to be mentioned for their reorganization skills, as rain in Xian curtailed out mountain trip and a Wind and Dust Storm in the Gobi Desert delayed out Train by nearly 5 hours. Our meals were all very good with a great selection of Chinese and Western foods at breakfast in most hotels. Our Chinese Lunches were generally rated well with a few exceptions in the more remote areas. Hotels were nearly all 4 Star and generally had only a few complaints. Our transfer and bussing arrangements were handled extremely well with priority check-in arranged by Odyssey (We had 6 internal flights within China plus our International departure). We would highly recommend China Odyssey Tours for their professionalism, guiding skills and generally a great way to see China. They certainly offer value for money, especially if you can get a Group of 10 or more together. We look forward to traveling with them again.

My friends and I had the privilege of having Nina and Mr Liu as our guide and driver, respectively for our 2 day visit in Xi’an. Although it was raining for the entire time in Xi’an, Nina was fabulous. With her excellent English skills, she was a wonderful teacher in the history and significance of the Chinese dynasties, Emperors – which certainly assisted with my understanding of the Terracotta Warriors, Xi’an’s Ancient City Walls and the Huaqing Hotsprings. All of which were breath taking to see.
Although it rained throughout our time in Xi’an, this certainly did not dampen our visit. Mr Liu provided a couple of us with spare umbrellas. We experienced a minor mechanical with the car at one stage, but Mr Liu and Nina were very calm and acted on this issue very promptly. They organised taxis to get us to our next destination at the Huaqing hotsprings and by the time we finished our visit there, Mr Liu was already back happily greeting us, with the car issue being completely resolved.
Both Nina and Mr Liu were very hospitable, which attributed to making my time in Xi’an a very memorable one. It is now, one of my favourite places in China!! Thank you both for your warmth, for looking after us and catering to our needs.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nina and Mr Liu to anyone wishing to explore Xi’an. They make a fantastic team! I’m sure anyone who is lucky to have them as their guide and driver, will have as wonderful, a time as I have, in such a beautiful city, filled with friendly people and rich in history, culture and magnificent architecture.
Keep up the marvellous work! Kind regards, Y Cheng Australia

First off, arranging our one-day tour to the Great Wall was made quite easy, and China Odyssey (Leo Huang) was quite flexible when it came to determining where we wanted to hike. Initially we had requested to hike the length from Jinshanling to Simatai; one week before the trip we were notified by Leo of a closure between these two areas so we ended up changing the hike to the Jiankou to Mutianyu length. If this check was not made in advance of the day of the tour our hike would have been limited and we would not have enjoyed ourselves as much as we did.
Howard was the individual from China Odyssey that ultimately accompanied us on our hike. The hike from Jiankou to Mutianyu included a hike up a mountain side from a small village to a watch tower, then along approximately an 8 km length of the Great Wall to Mutianyu. Howard was excellent in setting a good pace for our hike and giving us all the time we needed to take photographs along the way. The hike itself was breathtaking and thanks to Howard and the arrangements made by Leo, this trip was the biggest highlight of our entire trip to China. Howard also shared lunch and dinner with us; he was very pleasant to have with us and a great sense of humor to boot. I would definitely have Odyssey Tours help us out again in the future if we ever come back for another vacation in China. It is travelling made easy and in the end made our experience in China that much better.

Thank you China Odyssey for a well organised 8 day tour of Shanghai - Xian - Beijing.
Our group of 4 had a great time and it was nice to have such wonderful tour guides to show us around and explain the history. Shanghai we had Apple and she was so sweet and caring.
In Xian, we had Nina Yan and our driver Mr Liu were both so wonderful, we couldn't ask for better, they were both such nice people and really enjoyed their work. In Beijing, we had Peter and he was so passionate about the history and had great recommendations on food etc.
Thank you again especially to Nina!

Our tour guide Wendy did an awesome job showing us Guilin, Longsheng and Yangshuo. The sites were amazing. Wendy was always prompt in picking us up, very knowledgeable, organized and reliable. She was also very friendly and likable. Wendy also made a few extra stops in Pearl, Tea and Silk factories after learning our interests, which were fantastic and we got great deals. Highly recommend hiring this tour group, you won't regret it!! Thank you, Wendy!
For anyone that is considering doing this on their own, if you don't know Mandarin it will be quite challenging. Even with a guide we had to make a number of vehicle changes, which would be near impossible to do without knowing the language and planning it out in advance. We have travelled to other parts of Asia and Europe, but found China especially hard to navigate on our own (on our free days). Odyssey tour made the otherwise difficult travel, effortless.

We enjoyed our recent 9 day trip in China (Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Yangshuo, Shanghai) with them. Mandy and Chen in Beijing, and Ray in Xian made our trip memorable. Mandy and Ray were great tour guides. They were very knowledgeable and took good care of us.
Being a tourist in China who doesn't speak Chinese can be a big problem, but not on a tour. Our guides did all the talking at each stop, train station, airport, etc. This made traveling between cities very easy. And whenever we landed at the next city, our new guide would always appear promptly at the arrivals area.
Our tour organizer Leo was very easy to work with from the beginning. He was very prompt in responding to our emails, and took care of our meal request too!
We definitely recommend them. In fact we are planning on taking a tour of Thailand with them!
