We've just come back from a China tour to Beijing, Xian, Guilin, changing, Yangtze River and Shanghai. Odyssey tours were amazing. We booked our tour about a year ago and ever since we've kept in regular contact with our travel consultant Miranda. She has been very quick at replying to emails and has answered every question we've had. Our luggage didn't arrive in Beijing due to a independent airline which we booked separately and she was able to sort it out for us and made sure it met us in our next destination. She emailed us to keep us updated on the situation.
Our tour guides were really good too. All of them were very knowledgable, spoke excellent English and were always on time. The whole tour was very organised and the tour guides helped us check in the airport for our internal flights around china. During our holiday we were given a 24 hour contact number just incase. We would definitely travel again with odyssey because they have been so organised and so helpful in answering questions to make sure our tour was perfect.

We spent a few days in Lhasa and really enjoyed it. I have been to many parts of China myself but Tibet is very different and special. We had a Tibetan guide and driver who were wonderful and so friendly. They treated us like family and made us feel so welcome. The mountain scenery in Tibet is beautiful and definitely worth a day trip or couple of day trips outside Lhasa if you can fit it in. There is also quite an Indian / Nepali influence in Lhasa as well. Of all the places we went to with China Odyssey during this trip, I would have liked to have stayed longer and explored more of Tibet.

First off, I would like to thank Miranda Zhang, our personal travel consultant, from China Odyssey Tours. Our family holiday in China would not have been possible without her. She began helping us plan this trip in July 2014. She was very accommodating, helpful, understanding and patient in making the necessary changes to our itinerary. We had a wonderful an 11-day trip. This trip was a gift for my grandma, so she could revisit the places she spent her childhood in Hong Kong and China. From the moment we landed everything ran smoothly. The food we ate in each city we visited was amazing!! We loved being able to sample many specialty dishes from each city! I would like to thank all the guides and drivers in the cities we visited. They personalise our tours by adding destinations we asked to see. All our guides were very knowledgeable on the locations we visited. I particularly enjoyed the local historical talks they gave. Our guide for Hong Kong was Chas. I would like to thank him for writing our itinerary and the names of the additional places we visited, in Chinese, for my grandma. The first part of the tour was a half day tour in the northern territory of the island, where we were got to see how people used to live. My family loved walking around the village markets there. We got to sampled the best local fresh fruit produce. Chas also took us on a One-day Island & Kowloon tour, which included visiting many popular Hong Kong attractions. This tour included picturesque Victoria Peak, Kowloon Bay and many temples. We had planned to visit the Avenue of Stars, however it was closed. Instead we went to Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden, which has been used for film locations for many Chinese films that my family love. It was a real treat being able to see this place. Our guide for our one-day tour to Macau was Lynn, who was a walking encyclopaedia! I loved learning about the history of Macau, especially the influence of Western culture and religion has had on Macau. In Macau, we visited many of the casinos to see the family entertainment they provide. My favourites are the Venetian Casino and the Dream Casino. Lynn also took us to the Koi Kei Bakery and showed us where to find Portuguese tarts. I wanted to buy lots of Koi Kei’s specialty biscuits for friends and family back home but there wasn’t enough room in my luggage. Our guide for Shenzhen and Zhongshan was Jenny. In Shenzhen we visited Windows of the World and Splendid China theme parks. Seeing replicas of so many famous land marks make all the walking worth it. At Splendid China, I got to dress up as my favourite Princess Pearl character! – So excited! We also saw two shows. The costumes and the acting was spectacular! Another highlight for me was The Dafen Painting Village. It was a sunny day, so we were able to see the artists painting outside. I ended up buying two paintings. Our last stop was Zhongshan. Our visit to this city was for my grandma to see the house she grew up in. I would like to thank Jenny and her driver for helping us search for my grandma’s childhood home, even though it was a tremendous task. I love that while we were in Zhongshan we were able to visit the local museum Thank you Odyssey Tours for organising such a memorable trip for my family! Will definitely recommend you to my family and friends!

This is the second time we have booked a tour with China Odssey (My Odyssey Tours) and both times our experience with them has been wonderful. Miranda Zhang in their Guilin office in China organised both trips for us. I had a very specific idea of the places I wanted to go to, the sights I wanted to see and the accomodation I wanted to stay in, so Miranda was very good at incorporating all my ideas into the trips to make them fabulous! If anything arose like problems with flights I had booked myself through a different travel agent, she was there to help and do what she could. We knew throughout the trip that Miranda was just a quick phone call away if there was anything we needed and that was very reassuring. As for the places we went to, well both trips were to China. During our first trip 2 years ago we saw: (Shanghai), Guilin and Yangshuo, Chengdu, Xian and Beijing. This time we wanted to visit places with natural beauty so we decided on some mountainous areas like Zhangjiajie (famous because the scenery featured in the film Avatar), Mount Huangshan and Tibet. In each place we had an excellent guide and driver who brought us from place to place, booked tickets for us, helped us order food in restaurants etc. The experience was completely stress free and it is a wonderful way to travel. Mandarin Chinese is a hard language to learn so knowing that your guide is there to interpret for you is great. It also takes the stress out of trying to work out what ticket for entrance to an attraction you should buy and trying to explain that to someone behind the counter in Chinese etc. I am generally a very independent person and like working things out on my own but I really feel that we couldn't have done this trip without our guides and without China Odyssey tours. Even purely from the point of view of time, knowing you don't have to wait for a bus etc. and that your driver will take you to the next attraction means that you can fit in a lot more in each day. I would highly recommend My Odyssey Tours to other travellers. We booked a second time with them because we were so impressed with our first tour, and if we were going back to this part of the world would without hesitation book with them again. It is often hard on the internet to know what tour operators to trust, especially if you are planning a big tour so I am very glad we stumbled upon China Odyssey during our online research.

Our group of 6 just got back from a wonderful 3-week trip to numerous cities in China arranged by China Odyssey (we were there from April 4-25, 2016). Our contact at Odyssey was Miranda and she did an excellent job. She kept in close contact with us as we planned our trip, answering all questions immediately and helping us with getting our visas too. The hotels she suggested all turned out to be wonderful and luxurious and we enjoyed the suggestions she made for things to see and places to go. All guides and drivers were excellent too. One we especially liked was our guide Tracy Liu, whom we had for 5 days in Beijing. She was punctual, energetic, informative, and fun to be around. We highly recommend China Odyssey, Miranda, and Tracy!

We just returned from a 3 week China trip arranged by China Odyssey Tours. Miranda Zhang was our trip coordinator, and made all of the arrangements; we customized our tour for 6 people (friends) and stayed 3 weeks instead of the usual 1 or 2. Miranda and Odyssey set up all 3 weeks perfectly, just as we wanted, with all transportation, hotels, and local tour guides. All of our tour guides were excellent. Tracy Liu was our local tour guide in Beijing, and was especially good; she was efficient, cheerful, knowledgeable and personable, and made sure that we saw everything that we wanted to see. She made us feel comfortable and at home in Beijing. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and all details were taken care of for us, I give my highest recommendation to China Odyssey Tours, Miranda, and Tracy. Thanks for the incredible memories!

Miranda Zhang from China Odyssey Tours organised our Trip to China in August/September 2015, taking in Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, we had a wonderful time & everything ran like clockwork.
Our Guides were exceptional & extremely helpful & knowledgeable about their own areas.
Our Guide in Xian was Betty. She was great, lots of fun, didn't rush, lots of interesting facts about the area, no question was to hard for Betty to answer, and she was very well organised. If I were to ever go back to Xian I'd make sure I had Betty for a guide again, she made our visit to Xian very memorable. Wish we had had more time to spend with Betty.
If anyone is thinking of booking a trip through China Odyssey Tours & you're heading to Xian ask for Betty, you won't be disappointed.

My Best friend and I had over two weeks in China with Odyssey Tours. We could NOT have had a BETTER trip. We had the Best guides ever. Amanda, Becky and David were all so knowledgeable and friendly. They spoke great English and taught us many things about the culture, food and shopping! We stayed in the best hotels and made lifelong friends. We recently enjoyed a tour with China Odyssey to see the warriors just outside Xi'an. there was a slight hiccup as the head of Ethiopia was to visit early in the morning which meant the site was closed to other visitors. Our guide, Betty, coped excellently with the change of plan and worked out that if we still went early , we would be able to enter before the crowds arrived. That worked well. The exhibition is amazing - on an unbelievable scale and we were able to spend as long as we needed viewing the warriors etc. We can't thank the tour company and betty enough.
