A Memorable 6-Day Beijing-Guilin Tour |
|
Dear Reinself, Hilda and I would like to express our overall satisfaction as concerns our recent five day trip to China as arranged by you and your colleagues at China Odyssey Tours. Our tour guide in Beijing, Jack, and the driver, Mr. Han, each did a very good job. They both showed kindness and consideration in helping Hilda walk up and down the difficult pathways of Beijing.... |

A lasting impression on the trip in China |
|
Dear Reinself, My husband and I would like to thank you most sincerely for the wonderful trip you planned for us in China in August/September 2007. The holiday left such a lasting impression on us that we were almost loath to tell people about it for fear of sounding as if we were exaggerating! |

Hello Reinself,
Yes, I did enjoy the trip very much, especially my days in Guilin and the Li river cruise. Peggy was very helpful and willing to spend time to help me when her relatives were celebrating the holiday. I too am sorry I did not get a chance to meet you and the staff there. I look forward to another trip with your group. Richard Chalquest

Hello Reinself,
Thank you again for your help arranging the tour. I very much enjoyed Xian and Guilin. To be honest, the Yangtze cruise was a disappointment for me – not what I expected. But the rest of the trip was excellent.
I have already recommend your company to a few people looking to travel in China. My parents will be emailing you next year to help them organize their voyage as well!
I will send photos in a few weeks when I have downloaded them
Kind regards,
Melanie

Dear Reinself,
We have been back in Chicago since Saturday night (November 5). We want to thank-you for all of your wonderful planning. Yes, I worried about everything, but you were so correct that everything would work out and it did.
All the guides picked us up on time, and we liked all of them. All the flights worked out, except for the fog delay in Beijing, which was out of your control. We enjoyed everything that you planned for us.
It was a pleasure working with you, and I would certainly recommend you and China Odyssey Tours if I knew someone going to China.
I'm so glad we were able to meet in Guilin. We appreciated our names on your video screens, and our special gift bag!
I have 2 suggestions for your next clients.
First, when we visited the Great Wall, we went to the Mutianyu section. It was a long, uphill walk to the cable cars. Once on the Wall, there were many steep steps, and few railings. I didn't feel very comfortable walking around that section. I went back to the Great Wall on a tour arranged from my husband's firm to the Badaling Section. There were also cable cars, but not a long uphill walk to get to them. It was much easier to walk at the Badaling Section, and I was able to see much more of the wall. Your other clients may also perfer Badaling to Mutianyu.
Next, we liked the Sofitel in Xian, and the Westin in Shanghai, but really didn't like the Sheraton in Guilin. I don't know if there is a hotel in Guilin that is better, but the Sheraton was not nearly as good as the other hotels.
Best wishes,
Fran Block

Dear Reinself,
The whole China tour that you put together for us was just the BEST. You were so kind to work with us on all the little changes we made through out the planning of our trip.
We wanted to let you know how pleased we were with our guides, Shanghai it was Vivian, and Guilin it was Anne,
Xi'an it was Kenny and then Andy picked us up from our cruise. We just fell in love with Andy. He was so considerate and could communicate with us and planned some wonder Chinese dinners that were out of this world!!!!!!
As I said we really were happy with all the things we got to visit but was so impressed with Andy and the manner he did the tour. I wanted to send a thanks to you and am copying Andy as a thank you also.He was the BEST GUIDE EVER!!!!!!!!!!
We are now home, safe and a bit tired from our travels but are so thankful for the oppoutunity to visit all the 7 countries we visited and China was a favorite of ours.
Thanks again to you Reinself for the over all tour and for the personal touch you gave with the birthday cake and gifts for Bob. We so appreciated your thoughtfulness and so glad we could meet you in person.
Best,
Diane & Bob Butscher.Dear Mister&Reinself,
We sincerely would like to thank you for the trip you organized for us in China. Everything was perfect and very well prepared. We spent a lot of time in the airports and train stations, but it definitely worst it !!
I really loved the Terracotta army warriors while my husband had a crush for the great wall.
We would like to send a postcard and a little souvenir from our Pacific island to some of our guides. Could you please give us their addresses? - Nick (Beijing); - Peter (Xian); - Joy (Chengdu); - and Pamela (Guilin).
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,

Dear Reinself
Thanks a lot for your confirmation.
I want to thank you for your incredibly fast, very professional and efficient service!
In case the trip to Mt Huangshan is as well organised as the booking, then we will definitely have a fantastic experience.
Thanks again for your great job!
Best regards,
Guillaume.Dear Reinself and Maggie,
I just wanted to say the trip to Tibet was memorable and enjoyable!
The itinerary was up to par and spaced out nicely.
The Xin Ding Hotel was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in! The staff were most pleasant! The Bell Boy was most memorable as he always greeted us with such respect and courtesy.
Besides the mishap with Tibet permit (and Daniel being marked as a female), we both enjoyed the trip and thought it was such an amazing part of the world.
Hope all is well.
Regards,
Nicola Carozza

Dear Reinself and Maggie,
We are on our way to the air port to take our flight back to Israel.
I want to thank you very much for the assistance and arrangements during and before our stay.
I think in general everything was good and your guides were very nice (especially Sally in Beijing and Tony in Hangzou who are excellent!) The hotels were good except the one in Hangzou.
But, again in general we had a very nice tour and we want to thank you.
Best regards,

Hello Reinself,

Just wanted to let you know that we have arrived safely back to Canada. The weather changed from autumn while we were away. It has been quite chilly here. Makes me sad to be away from sunny Guilin.
I wanted to thank you again so much for taking the time to meet with us when we were in Guilin. It was a highlight of the trip for me to spend a few minutes with you. I am happy that you received my "constructive suggestions" in the correct spirit. I am happy to send you some more insights in to how your company might be able to make travel in China even better.
I have been quite busy since returning to work. I expect to have much more free time in the next month or so. I will get my thoughts collected and send them on to you in the next while. In the meantime, just wanted to remind you of me so that you won't forget who I am when next I contact you.
Our trip to China was wonderful. You provided a very stressless holiday for all of us. I just cannot thank you enough. I hope that you will give serious consideration to coming to Canada one day and allowing me to repay the hospitality you have shown to us in your country.
I'll be in touch soon.

Dear Reinself,
I apologize for taking so long to write. We have had a very busy time since returning home.
We want to thank you for organizing our most enjoyable days in Shanghai and Suzhou, Tongli and Zhujiajiao. All the arrangements worked perfectly – guides arrived as expected and looked after us very well. The hotel in Shanghai was very nice and we walked to the Bund although it took about 30 minutes and also found the Metro very convenient. The hotel in Suzhou was also very nice.
Thank you for making such good arrangements and letting us have such a lovely holiday.
Very best wishes!

Dear Reinself,
Thank you for a well-arranged trip to Guilin! We are very pleased with your company's services.
Regarding our discussion at your office about Yangtze cruise and Huangshan, kindly provide 8-days itinerary for mid-May and late-November so we can compare and decide when to buy the air tickets.
If we know of anyone planning to visit China we shall recommend that they contact you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes!

Good evening Reinself,
I just wanted to thank you for the arrangements you prepared for me. The guides and drivers were very professional and knowledgeable. Everything went off like clockwork.
Suggestion you may want utilize hotels that provide WI FI in their rooms as the traveler today relies on e-mail, web search, etc.
All in all, I enjoyed the tour.
Thank you!

Good evening Reinself,
It’s been a while, how are you? Samuel and me are very sorry for the delay.
We’re very grateful you arranged our tour although it was only for 7 days. We liked the places we did go, specially Guilin, it’s a wonderful place and I very love the scenery!
Our tour guides did also a very good job. Enrique and Joy are two persons with humour and always very concerned about our safety and comfort. They also brought us to see other places and spectacles not listed in our itinerary, like for example Cristina in Yangshuo, Guilin. She suggested us a minority show near the Li River called Impression of Liu Sanjie. With aprox. 600 performers, it was awesome, one of the best shows I ever saw.
In Chengdu we had the chance to see the biggest Buddha of the world (Leshan Giant Buhhda) and not forgetting the cute panda I hugged while Joy (our guide) and Samuel were outside filming two pandas fighting for a place to sleep on the tree!
Thank you for the unforgettable time in Yunnan!
We’re planning to have another trip to China a couple of years later, and we’ll definitely ask your services. All the information you gave us was were very helpful and I have to say you’re very fast working. We thanks you for give us those memories in China.
Reinself, if you’re interested in going to Spain or Belgium you can always contact us, we’ll be pleased to show you everything and free for you and your friends ;). Here some of our memories attached.
Hope we meet again!
Best Regards,
Gema Xu and Samuel Daza

Hi Reinself,
Good evening! This is our third day in Beijing. Thank you so much for arranging this wonderful tour with a wonderful guide, Jerry.
Our Guide Jerry is so wonderful to us. I think it's like we have a relative guide here in Beijing, he's like an old friend to us, sharing personal experiences and personal favorites. And he's so knowledgeable, every question has an answer, so much answer, hahaha. This afternoon we've been to Behai Park and my husband and daughter are really excited about the stamp that they bought together with Jerry. Jerry has a passion for antiques and calligraphy. We were actually planning to have an acrobatic show tonight but we are so tired we don't want to walk anymore.
The driver is also very good and the service vehicle that we use everyday is very nice also.
I can also suggest to you this Grand Hyatt, although a little bit more pricey but their service is very good. Their turndown service includes change of towels, linens and additional bottled water. All in all our first three days here were very excellent except for our legs...hehehe.
Will e-mail you again soon.

Reinself Wei,

We flew from Nanning to Beijing today and then to the U.S. Thank you for your services while in China.
All arrangements were satisfactory. Our guide and driver in Xian have been very helpful and friendly. The Yangtze cruise was very good. And the train ride to Chengdu was first class. We need this kind of train in U.S. Grace met us at the platform in Chengdu, which was very helpful too. We also enjoyed our time in Guillin and Yangshuo, with our pleasant guide Susan.

Hello Reinself Wei,
Thank you for your email. I apologise for a late reply.
Thank you for organising the trip for us. We were rather pleased with our quide in Chongqing - he went out of his way to write everything on paper (we are sign language users) and ensuring our comfort during the time he was with us. You were very informative and punctual in your emailing with us, accommodating to our requests, which made everything easier for us.
Overall, we enjoyed our trip very much. Thank you once again.
We wish you all the best.
Warm regards,

Hello Reinself!
Just few words to you after completion of our successful trip in China. We are back to Bangkok after a very interesting and well organized trip to wonderful locations in China.
Local Guides were all very kind and interesting and flexible enough through quite busy journeys perfectly on schedule. All hotel accomodation was OK as well as the cruise. The Pullman Hotel in Guangzhou was perfect.
The only weakness we have perceived is flight connectivity on our way back to Bangkok, which is unexpeceted, not your fault.
In summary, Well Done from your side. We will send you the questionnaire in the coming days.
Best regards,
Charles Delacollete

Hello Reinself!
I'm sorry just to write now but in my return to work I found so many tasks to be performed that I have no time to write to you.
First of all, we want to thank you for the very nice and very well organized trip in China. As we referred in our comments, it exceeds our expectations and we intend to go back to China in a nearer future. The idea about China is based on we read in books, Internet and the reality is much better.
Our guides were exceptional as well our private drivers. Their concern is to find the best way to show everything, to provide us with enough information without to bore us. The hotels are well located, very closed to the main places. For us, it was the best choice as we prefer to be installed not outside the main places neither in the middle of these places, to avoid so many confusion and movement.
We already recommend your company to our friends.
When we intend to perform a new visit, can we contact you, directly?
We are preparing some photos to send to you. It's a hard job as we get about 2950 photos!
Best regards,
Helena Santos

Hello Reinself!

Thank you very much for organizing our trip to China! Thank you for good interesting program, which gave us the opportunity to see the most significant cities and monuments of cultural heritage of China, amazing scenery.
All of our local guides were very professionally and told unusually large number of interesting about Chinese history, Buddhism, about the customs, traditions.
Thank you for your great professionalism in the organization of the travel. During our trip we had no problems and inconveniences.
Hotels - a good level and are mostly comfortable. Good personal transport. All tickets for planes, trains, museums, everything was ready, never had any problems or delays.
Thanks again.

Dear Reinself,
I am very sorry for the delay our reply, but we could answer in Guangzhou and when I find a moment to answer you just now. Regarding to our visit in China, it was excellent! We trully enjoy your country and we we will visit it again soon.
In regards to the agency services, we were satisfied, besides some thing that we are not accostume. For example, in drinks, that was included just one glass of water or the drink we decide. In our country this is not common. In regards to the spanish english guides they were really competent.
Hoping we can visit your country soon, we said good bye!
Best regards,

Dear Reinself,
Hilda and I would like to express our overall satisfaction as concerns our recent five day trip to China as arranged by you and your colleagues at China Odyssey Tours.
Our tour guide, Jack, and the driver, Mr. Han, each did a very good job. They both showed kindness and consideration in helping Hilda walk up and down the difficult pathways of Beijing. Jack's knowledge of Beijing was impressive and we were particularly pleased at the time spent at the Temple of Heaven, the People's Park in Beijing.
Although we could not fully enjoy Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City because of the bitter cold weather, Jack managed to keep us moving and we somehow managed to briefly see the Square and walk the full length of the Forbidden City. After the bitter cold of the previous day, we were reluctant to go even further north and into the mountains to view the Great Wall. Jack persuaded us to try, and we are grateful that he did so, as the Great Wall was an astonishing site, an architectural masterpiece worthy of its designation as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We also got to see the Sacred Walk and that was also very well worth seeing.
We also enjoyed the rickshaw ride through the Hutongs. The stop at the home of one of the resident families was one of the highlights of our trip.
Our stay at the Double Tree Hilton was good but not great. The breakfasts were very good and all service personnel were pleasant and cooperative. Our room was a little cramped for two people and was dark. The mattresses were very comfortable and so was the bedding.
Our other tour guide, Jessica, was marvelous. And the driver, Mr. Li, did a very fine job. As we drove to the hotel from the airport in Guilin, we asked Jessica for a suggestion as to how we could spend our evening in Guilin City. She suggested a boat ride on the lakes. We thought that sounded very nice, but were hesitant to go by ourselves because we would not understand Chinese. Jessica volunteered to join us on the boat ride, arranged a reservation and had Mr. Li drive us to the event and meet us after the event was over. We thought that this was very generous of her and Mr. Li and offered to, at least, pay for her admission. Jessica refused to accept our offer, saying simply that we could consider it at the trip's end if we wanted to do so.
The boat ride was absolutely beautiful. We will always remember it.
The Bravo hotel was barely satisfactory. The room was, again, slightly cramped for two people, very dark and was cold. I did not have enough light in the bathroom to see the right side of my face while shaving. Breakfast was good and the mattresses and bedding were very comfortable. This hotel was not on your original itinerary. Our daughter Michelle stayed at the Bravo and suggested the change to the Bravo. Apparently, the overall quality at the Bravo had deteriorated from the time of her visit and, when she suggested the change, she was not aware of the change in quality. It would be a good idea to notify clients of this information should this situation reoccur in the future.
We were very pleased to learn that Jessica would join us on the cruise to Yangshuo County on the Li River. We both enjoyed the cruise and thought that the scenery was very nice. We were a little disappointed as the Li River was advertised as China's most beautiful river and we expected more in the way of color and variety. Perhaps the scenery is more spectacular during the warmer months of the year.
Jessica said that she and Mr. Li would take us to West Street for shopping and dinner and to the Sight and Sound show, would meet us at our seats after the show and drive us back to our hotel. We were most appreciative. The show was a sound and sight spectacular, but, of course, we could not appreciate the lyrics. Nonetheless, it was quite memorable.
The Green Lotus Hotel in Yangshuo was excellent in all regards. We were very satisfied.
The following morning, we went to Reed Flute Cave on the way to the airport in Guilin City. Jessica arranged for a chair lift for Hilda, who would not have been able to traverse the cave without it. Hilda really enjoyed the experience and the cave was magnificent, another highlight on a wonderful five day tour.
I hope that you will find this summarization to be of some use in evaluating your personnel and in planning future tours.
Thank you once again, for your efforts in arranging our tour.
Sincerely,
Martin Fried

Our Dear Friend Reinself,
Hello from Utah!
I am sorry that I have not replied sooner. We have only been home for two weeks and we have been busy preparing to go away for another two weeks. In America we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. We are going to Arizona for the holidays to be with our family. We, I think I told you this before, have 6 children and 21 grandchildren. We have a big family. We are very blessed. Thanksgiving is an important holiday for us.
I want to write more about our trip when we return. We loved our trip very much. We were happy with our guides, each one was kind and helpful to us. Our trip in Hong Kong was fabulous too. Candice, our guide was great. We loved Guilin and the boat ride and want to return and see that show again too. Jilly our guide in Beijing was so helpful and kind, he is most efficient. Seeing the Terra Cotta soldiers was a magnificent experience.
We had an interesting experience at the silk factory and I would like to send you some pictures of that experience. Could you please e-mail me your address? When we return I will send you the pictures. I just had to laugh at how brave the women were at the factory. I admire those women.
Thank you for the wonderful gifts and for the great book, we have showed many people our gifts and other treasures we picked up along the way. We have highly recommended you to plan a trip for our friends. We will return, hopefully soon. We truly loved the shopping in Hong Kong. It was very interesting. Fei is a brilliant guide. She has a darling personality and is a lot of fun too.
I hope you and your family are well. We heard on the TV that it was snowing in Beijing........I hope you didn't get snow. Oh my, we were very surprised to hear that snow was falling in Beijing.
Thank you again for all you did to make our trip the best trip we have ever experienced. We will return.
We send our love and Best Wishes,
Lynne and Bill

Hello Reinself
The whole trip was very good organised, also the choice of hotels was very good. Also the guide and driver were very friendly and helpful.
The only thing I can say, but not your fault, maybe a tip. Its really very touristic, maybe some people like also an alternative way. Personally I would like to See more local things and less touristic attractions, but I know many people like the popular places.
Can you give me information about Tibet? I am planning to make trip to Tibet beginning May 2010.
Departure shanghai (Personally I would like to make first day by train and I know there is a new railway line to Lhasa.) But if possible a more alternative suggestion, but I know this area is quite restricted.
Are there special requirements to go there (visa?) How to do?
Looking forward to your reply,
Best regards,
Filip Debruyne
