I just want to send you an e-mail to thank you for your wonderful work as our tour guide when we were in Guilin.

It was lovely to meet you and be shown around your lovely city and beautiful river scenery. You did a wonderful job to make us comfortable and inform us of all the things we should be looking at while we were under your care. We will never forget our trip and it is people like you who make it so unforgettable.

It was doubly wonderful to meet you, a member of an ethnic minority, and one as pretty as you...and cute, too!! We all hope and wish that you find your "Mr Right" soon, fall in love, get married and have lots of children... after all you are an ethnic minority - you can have more than one!

As someone who teaches Chinese (and other) students here in Australia to speak clearly, I assure you that your knowledge and use of English was excellent and I told you so at the time, didn't I!

For us the highlight of our trip to your city, Guilin was the overnight stay downstream on the river in that hotel which was so nice. We had a wonderful evening strolling around the city (West St) and buying lots of presents for our friends back home. The drive back to Guilin was also pretty wonderful and I should mention how nice the driver was.

I shall send you herewith some photos we took while we were with you.

I would like to send a copy of this letter to Sophie and I will wait for your permission before I do that. I will keep a copy of this until I hear from you.

It has been almost one month we arrived back home. Sorry for taking so long to write you.

At first my wife and I would like to thank you very much for the terrific hot pot dinner you offered us - It was so romantic and unforgetable. Our tour was fine. As allways China has surprised us for its beauty and magnificence. Our fist time in Indochina convinced us that we must go back some day. I would like to comment that the arrangements made for Indochina were better than the ones for China in terms of hotels, cars and guides.

Just one more important thing I would like to mention: We had some problems at the New Era Kunming hotel, which made me very mad. It had never happened to me all my life. Our guide, Mr.Jack (if I am not wrong) was with us during the hotel check out when occurred a very unpleasant situation, and he can report you.

Dear Sophie,

I am finally making time to write to you to thank you for your wonderful ability to organise a perfect tour in China. One of the reasons I have taken so long to write to you is that I have written to every one of the guides who you had looking after us to thank them for their kindness and expertise. In each e-mail to them I asked would they like me to forward a copy of the thank you letter to you. I have only so far had two replies and I will attach them to this e-mail.

You must know by now how much we appreciate China Odyssey Tours in general and you in particular because this is our second trip to China with you and there will probably one more smaller one next year (which I will talk to you about another time). Last time when we were in your good hands with Mr Geoff Bateman , I remember his wife, Corinne, saying to me halfway through the trip, "Wow! I thought yesterday was wonderful but the day is even better, and you know what? I have thought that everyday!" This sums up the attitude of the 11 people in our group this time. One of our pax was, I think, a bit too sick to be attempting such a long and busy trip but he came anyway and our guide in Shanghai, Avril was amazingly helpful. Anyway at one part of the trip he joked to me, "I think we should all go home now because we have had more than our money's worth !" And my brother, John Elliott, with his usual silly sense of humour said to me, "The trouble with China is that everything is the same." I was shocked. How could he say that about this wonderful country? But then he went on, "Yes, everything is the same - amazing!"

I have read on your website all the complimentary things people have said about you and COT, so I won't bore you by repeating it all once again. You know that I would never recommend anyone else except you and COT so you don't need to worry about that.

Dear Sophie,

I have just entered this review of China Odyssey on Trip Advisor, it takes a few days to be posted I think.

As you can see I think it is an excellent review of the company and I want to re-iterate that you were an excellent assistant to me in putting it all together. Thanks you for your help and patience. You were excellent and instrumental in making the trip a success! I was fascinated by China, and would like to return there soon. I was considering a trip to Shanghai in December 2011. I realize it may be cold then but that is the time that is available to me unless I wait until 9/2012.

I would spend about 5 days in Shanghai and 5-6 days in nearby cities. I had looked at the map and was considering D trains to Suzhou, then Nanjing, then QingDao - each for several nights. I don't think I need a local guide this time, but I would like to hear your ideas to recommend an itinerary. If I go, I might use your services to book the hotels, trains, and air back to Shanghai

Dear Sophie,

Since, we returned to US, we are quite busy with our office work and few other social programs. We did not even had a chance to look and edit our pictures from our trip. Our apologies that it took a while for us to send a thank you note for the excellent trip arrangements you did. The only regret we have is that Iype and Annie were not able to join the trip, although Iype did all the work from our side.

We returned to the U.S safely and it took a while to settle back at home and work. We had a fabulous time in China – primarily because the travel arrangements in each city worked exactly as planned, tour guides were knowledgeable and accommodating, the choice of sights/tours were excellent. All Tour guides and drivers were on time. Also they accommodated our requests to see couple of acrobatic shows in Beijing and Shanghai. Thank you so much for arranging this memorable trip. Some of our friends may be interested in a trip to China and we hope you would not mind if we give your name.

Dear Sophie,

Back in the US now but wanted to email and let you know how much I enjoyed China and the China Odyssey service at each step of the way.

Your motto is "You are not alone in China" and that proved very true in our 16 day trip through 5 cities.

The guide service and accommodations worked perfectly. It was a fabulous experience and one that I hope to repeat soon.

Local guides met us punctually at each city, escorted us to tours sites and hotels, answered our many questions and helped us to better understand and appreciate China and the culture. The local guides were each fantastic in their knowledge of the local cities, attractions, and ideas to make our trip better than we imagined.

When I do come back to China (soon I hope), I'll consult China Odyssey as the tour company that can get the job done best, priced reasonably, and with no risk. Sophie, you personally were great in helping set it all up, I really appreciate and enjoyed working with you.

Dear Sophie,

Thanks for the note. We have been recovering from jet lag and colds since our return.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Guilin area. After being in so many huge cites, it was nice to see the countryside. We both grew up on farms in Iowa and enjoyed seeing the fields and farming activities. Our trip to China would have been far less rewarding without the Guilin portion.

The arrangements from your company were excellent. We were a little nervous since this was our first time booking a trip over the Internet. But once we were met at the airport, all ran great. You should give David a bit more time off so he can rest up.

I have three small suggestions for improvement, all in Yangshou. The Green Lotus Hotel was good and a great location. But I would have paid more for a room with a river view. You should offer that as an option. I could have upgraded on my own, but we were already in our room and it seemed like too much trouble. But if had known in advance, I would have picked the river view.

The other two suggestions relate to Water Show. The guide should remind the guests to bring binoculars if they have them. We wished we had our binoculars but didn't think of them until we were seated. Secondly, it would be good if the guide would give a brief explanation of the story before the show. We didn't ask about it until after the show. The show was spectacular, but we might have appreciated it a bit more if we knew the story.

Hope my comments help. We had a wonderful tour and would recommend your company to our friends and family.

I have to say that the tour guides were great especially Toni in Xian, Susan in Guilin and ofcourse Chris in Shanghai. They were exceptional guides and you must let their bosses know that that they did have a good knowledge of all that they showed us and also were very flexible and kind too. We were very, very happy with them and please do let them know that too.

One of my friends want to visit China sometime next year and I am going to give her your name and email address. You can make up an itinerary for her when she decides to come to China.

Thank you for your patience in my reply. I really thank you very kindly for our amazing tour through China. We really enjoyed our experiences.

Beijing was a very amazing city to visit and I am very impressed with all the sights and the Great Wall was very special. Our guide Tina was exceptional, she was a very kind, caring and sweet young lady and I am very happy to have met her. Mr.Lee was such a fantastic driver and I felt very safe all the time.

Our time in Xian was also very interesting, the weather here was so hot but the history was so wonderful you soon forget about the heat or untill you must walk to the car again!! I really enjoyed the bike ride around the city wall. Stephen was a very interesting man and was very passionate about his city.

I was so impressed with Guilin and Yangshuo these two places were absolutely beautiful. Lauren and I were very happy here and had such a lovely time in these beautiful places. The people here were happy and very friendly. Our guide Lynda was outstanding, she was very kind, caring and sweet and we really enjoyed her company. She has a beautiful voice and taught me a chinese song which I can sing and remember the words! Mr.Moor our driver was a very kind man also.

Our trip to Shanghai was very short but the weather while we were here was gorgeous. Our hotel was also very lovely.

I'm so grateful for your great quality service at China Odyssey tours you made our trip very smooth and very enjoyable. Thank you for all your fast email correspondence and the lovely gifts waiting for us in Guilin.

Hi Sophie,

I arrived back in New Zealand about a week ago, and have just had time to adjust again to the normal routines and tell everyone about my wonderful holiday in China.

I would just like to share with you some of my "highlights":

1. Shanghai: The Maglev train was exciting: over 300 km/hr! Interestingly, the last thing I saw – the visit to the Urban Planning Department – which didn't sound that exciting, amazed me when I saw that the whole of Shanghai has been almost completely rebuilt into a very modern city within the last 30 years, with literally thousands of high-rise buildings and massive infrastructure. This was really quite staggering.

2. The 4-day cruise up the Yangtze, past the Three Gorges, and the Dam. Very high standard of accommodation, food, service and entertainment. Also, apart from the unique scenery of the Three Gorges, the organisation on the boat was very professional: always something interesting going on.

3. Chongqing: the Stilwell Museum, again surprisingly, was so interesting. I hadn't been aware that the Americans and Chinese had fought together, on the same side, like this, during the Second World War. I also enjoyed the spicy hotpot!

4. The train journey from Chongqing to Chengdu. Amazing achievement building this high-speed railway in such mountainous country: many tunnels and beautiful countryside, paddy fields etc.

5. Chengdu: The unique Panda visit and the Sichuan Opera, which was very artistic, amusing, and graceful.

6. Guilin: This is a lovely quieter country area than the other places I had visited. I particularly enjoyed the evening cruise on the waterways of Guilin, with the lights and the entertainment provided at various places on the banks.

7. Cruise down the Li river: This, together with the light show at Yongshuo, was probably the most unexpected highlight of my whole China trip. The scenery from the river was absolutely outstanding, totally unique, and what a way to see it! I also enjoyed the country drive: "off the beaten track".

8. Yongshuo: I had not heard of the Sanjie Liu "Impressions" show before – I probably should have – but, it almost defies description: I felt privileged to have attended, I have never seen anything like it before.

9. Xi'an: A fascinating introduction to the Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties, the remarkable achievements of Emperor QinShihuang, and Feng Shui. Apart from the Terra Cotta Warriors, and the walls of Xi'an, I was also impressed by the Han emperor's tomb and warriors, and the Tang Dynasty show.

10. Beijing: The sheer spectacle of the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, then the artistic delights, and skilful action of the Beijing Opera.

Most of all though, I found that your slogan – "You are not alone I China" – really says it all. Venturing into a vast and complex country like China, without any knowledge of the language, could have been quite daunting, but at each step, each city, your guides were there to meet me and take care of me. All of them were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, keen to show me the best things about their city and China, and to ensure my security and peace of mind. I think that this made a huge difference to the enjoyment of my trip.

I would be very happy to be a reference for China Odyssey Tours and would recommend it to anyone.

I wonder if you could please send me the e-mail addresses of Shona in Guilin and Tracy in Xi'an: I would like to send them both a thank you note and a couple of photos.

Happy Summer Equinox. I love the longest day of the year. I'm in the Ukraine now. Just left Russia.

Just want to drop you a line that I thoroughly enjoyed the tours, hotels etc. that you set up for me in China. They were the swankiest hotels I have been in on this whole trip.

I would also like to single out your tour guide Candy in Xian. She and I really hit it off for the two brief days we knew each other. She knows her stuff, and she knows English well.

Thank you again for bearing with me through all the money problems I had relating to my tour, and my anxieties about being met at the airports, and my transport to the airports. I know I am meticulous about such things. Maybe some day I can bring a group to China?

Everything arranged by you and your company went exactly as planned. Our guide in Xian and the driver were excellent. We were met at the airport as scheduled and had a wonderful 2 days of sightseeing. They were both prompt for our return to the airport on the final day. We also appreciated the extra advice given to us from our guide on local places to eat in the evening and places we could walk to from our hotel at night. Our guide also made sure we were checked in for our departing flights before leaving the airport.

I would like to thank you as well for doing such a good job on all of the arrangements. It was a great trip. China is full of adventure and we both hope to return again in the future to explore your beautiful country.

---Du Fu (great poet) tatched cottage and surrouding park (in town);
---WuHu Si (in town).

The tour you set up for us was great. All the tour guides were there to meet us, on time and very knowledgable. The only hitch we had was transferring our bags from the bus to the ship before the cruise. When the cruise finished, a tour guide came on the ship to get us with a person to handle the bags.

Overall the trip was great, and the tour guides we had did a good job. One suggestion I have is that you make little cards for your tours that break out the different dynasties on paper so we can refer to them. It was confusing sometimes because we weren't used to hearing the Chinese dynasty names.

First, I really think a river view room should be the first priority in the choice of accommodation in Wuzhen. It really makes a very great difference! Second, I think your company should include at least one boat ride in either Dong Shan or Xi Shan.

Apart from those 2 little problems, I really think all of your staff are doing a great job. Thanks Mr. Leung (transfer us to and from airport), Mr. Tai (our driver) , May and Mr. Zhou (our guide) and of course you, Sophie, especially for your quick reply in helping us to arrange hotel rooms in Shanghai during our trip. Finally, I will give you my comments on the trip!

First of all, I was very impressed with the quality of the planification of the trip! All the guides were on time, very friendly.We especially adored our guides in Suzhou, Xian, Lijiang, and the best of the best was Li Hua in Guilin, while Mary in Beijing is not so good. The accomodations were as expected.

Some sites of interest could have been added, like the Olympics installations in Beijing and maybe a" City tour" of Kunming where I consider we lost one day...but, as destiny plans well the events sometimes, my daughter was sick on that day and the day off was welcomed for her.

But everything else was ok, Sophie. Thanks to you and the choice of the excellent guides and drivers we had!!! As you maybe know, I replied very positively to 2 other potential clients you refered.

So, again, a big thank you for a perfect trip that made us friends of China and the Chinese people!

"You are not alone in China" is the correct feeling we had when we traveled with China Odyssey Tours a few weeks ago.

On our trip we were scheduled to see the biggest and most famous Tiger Leaping Gorge in China. The scheduled day, the Gorge was closed to tourists because of rain.

I told Sophie how important visiting the site was for me. "You are not alone in China", meant that without any hesitation or any added cost for us, Sophie rescheduled the tour and on the next day our driver and guide drove us 2.5 hours back to the Gorge so that I can have my dream come true.

The trip was great. Thank you for organising it for us.

We saw what we wanted, but could have done with another day at Shanghai Expo. There was just so much to see and do, and not enough hours in the day. It pays to get the information about the buses, ferries and taxi carts the first day, as it can save you a lot of time and long walks.

Only disappointment were the long queues to some of the popular Countries exhibitions. We would have liked to see the China, Japan and Taiwan sites, but the queues were too long. Pity one could not get special VIP passes to these busy places. If you are over 70 years old, you could go in via the VIP entrances, but we were only a couple of years short and just had to join the queue. You can visit your own country's exhibition by using your passport to get in the VIP entrance. The China building was spectacular and you could see it wherever you went, even from the city.

The Westin Bund Center Hotel, Shanghai was very good and in a very convenient location. We could walk to Nanjing Road or the Bund without any problems. Next time we will get brave and use the Metro.

The sightseeing was good and we saw a lot of what we missed the first time. We were also able to get around with taxis at night without any problems.

The driver and David the Tour Guide were very pleasant and good to us. We can recommend them to anyone who visits Shanghai.

Lastly the trip on the Maglev Train was excellent. Something we wanted to do from the first trip.

Once again, thanks for your help and we will always use China Odyssey in China.

We did enjoy our trip to Chengdu. After our journey to Chengdu and to the other places covered by our booked tour we did spend some more days in Shanghai (EXPO etc.)

Our guide did contribute very much to the nice and interesting days. Always on time, very good information regarding the individual monuments and very friendly. Our driver very good and comfortable safe driving. Tianfu Sunshine Hotel very good and clean, very good breakfast. Grand Hotel in Emeishan good in very nice location.

We have some suggestions which may be helpful:
- for guests of Grand Hotel, you could remind them to take swimsuits with them (nice hot springs)
- for elderly people, the full tour Mt. Emei could be a bit exhausting.

Planning and information from you Sophie before we startet the tour was outstanding good. Confirmation letter with tour itinery very helpful (all telephone numbers etc.-although we did not need them).

We are glad to be back home, but what an experience we had in China.

We were amazed how clean each and every city we visited was and how hard everyone worked. The sights we saw were truly amazing. The Terracotta Soldiers, the big Three Gorges Dam and the magnificent Great Wall was every bit as awesome as we expected.

Every one of our guides and drivers were great. Glad we had such good drivers!!!! The guides were generally fluent with thier English language. We were however surprised at how many steps we had to climb. If we had only known, maybe we would have gotten ourselves in better shape. The public bathrooms were also a surprise to us, but did not take us long to figure out how to use them. Each hotel was very clean and accommadating to us.

I can not thank your company for being so helpful and gracious to us in setting up our tour. It was the experience of a lifetime and one we will not forget soon.

We have not developed our pictures yet but will e-mail the one from your office as soon as Jim goes throught the pictures.

We certainly enjoyed all the sights and would say that your company did a wonderful job of co-ordinating our visit. As I mentioned we did enjoy all the sights. There are just two points that I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly, our hotel room in Beijing was in need of renovation, but the room at the hotel in Xian were much better. Secondly, we were surprised to find out that our flight from Xian to Shanghai was arriving at Pudong airport and not Hong Qiao as previously indicated. I would suggest that in the future you indicate specifically which airport is being used.

The trip to China was amazing and everything was well organised.

There were two minor hick-ups, but nothing major. On our last internal flight we actually had another flight than the one you advised us on (but the guide did now, so no problems there) and when checking in at the Garden Hotel in Beijing they could not find us in their reservation system. It turned out that they made a mistake after they took a few minutes to sort that out. As I said those were minor hick-ups and did not bother us at all.

Other than that, everything went very smoothly and the organisation was perfect. Thank you very much.

By the way, I did not mention that specifically - the guides were all very, very good. They were all like 110% and the one in Xian (sorry, forgot her name) was like 115%. Really excellent - all of them.

Rest assured that should we ever visit China again we will contact you and I will also recommend China Odyssey Tours to any friends who might plan a future trip to China.

The tour we made in China was very interesting, the staying in a completly different enviroment was exciting. The experience with the very professionally local guides gave us the possibility to know China better, to learn a lot of things about Chinese history, customs, Buddhism. In Guilin, we enjoyed very much the Impression Sanjie Liu Night Show suggested by the guide, and the Reed Flute Cave was amazing.....

Sure if we will decide to visit China again, we will contact you. In the meantime, we promote and recommend your agency to our friends. All the hotels choosen by you (also in Hong Kong) were very comfortable and in good central position. I thing that you have nothing to improve only to continue in this way.

Concerning the photos we took a lot of them, but sincerly we have still to sort them out.

I wonder if you can help us again by issuing a receipt or an invoice for the amound we paid, so that we can deduct a part of these expenses. I really hope that you can help us.

I first wanted to thank you for taking such great care in setting up our tours for myself and two Sons. The Tour escourts were very knowledgable and great. We especially enjoyed Sophia our tour escourt in Beijing. She was great and we all enjoyed her knowledge and friendlyness.

I do have a favor if you will. I looked on the website of the Harmony Hotel,however could not find how to e-mail directly. During our stay March 11-12-13 I lost a money clip that had approxiamately 800-950 RMB with it. Could you check with the hotel and see if it may have been turned in by any chance? I remember getting on the elevator on the day of Saturday the 13th and heard something I thought hit the floor, it may have also went down the elevator shaft and be at the bottom. I am not as concered about the dollars as I am about the Money clip, as I had it for many years. I would appreciate if you could just check for me and e-mail me.

I wanted to compliment your employee Sophie for her quick work and her helpful and caring attitude. On short notice, I had to arrange plane tickets and a tour guide for my 75 year old father and my cousin who are visiting China from the U.S.

I live in Wuhan and had arranged a Yangtze River Cruise for the two of them, but did not pay attention to the details of the trip. Their cruise ends in Chongqing and I thought it would be easy for them to travel by car back to Wuhan. When I realized on March 29 that they should fly back to Wuhan instead of drive, the start day of the cruise was only 2 days away on March 31. Sophie arranged a guide to meet them at the boat dock, take them on a quick tour of Chongqing and deliver them to the airport. She patiently helped with all the rushed details of payment – like getting faxes of their credit cards etd.

All in all, she was very helpful and kind and her responses by email were always fast and very clear. I appreciated her high level of customer service. My family has not yet received the services Sophie arranged as their boat arrives in Chongqing on April 4, but I am sure it will be of the same high level as the arrangements already provided.

As neither my father nor cousin speak any Chinese at all and it is my cousin’s first time in China, Sophie’s ability to communicate clearly in English helped a lot.

For several weeks, I have been been working with Sophie Lu, one of your China Travel Consultants, on a very ambitious 24-day trip to China. As I mentioned above, I will not be able to book this trip at the present time. However, even though I won't be using your travel services at this time, I wanted to provide you with some feedback and comments and my experience with China Odyssey Tours in general and Sophie Lu in particular.

First, let me commend you on your web site -- it is fabulous. Well organized, easy to navigate, and has mountains of valuable information. While I was struggling to define my itinerary, I spent hours going through your standard tours and city and area information. It was absolutely invaluable. The ONLY complaint I had was I couldn't find the email address for the President or CEO when I wanted to send this note -- which is why I am sending it through Vera, your Customer Service Manager.

Second, what can I say about Sophie? She was incredible. From the first email I sent she has been very responsive, generally getting back to me within 24 hrs, or telling me why there might be a delay (such as during the New Year's holiday period). Her English (at least written, since I have not spoken to her directly) is very good and easy to understand. When I asked questions she gave me good, straight forward responses and answers -- and often volunteered extra information that made it easy for me to figure out my trip. She was very proactive, and when I didn't response immediately she always followed up with a re-transmittal of the information to make sure I had gotten it. I especially appreciated her expertise, knowledge and candor about what would or would not work in planning the trip.

By the end, I was extremely comfortable with the itinerary, and more importantly with the professionalism of China Odyssey Tours (and Sophie). Sophie is a real jewel, a terrific travel agent who clearly is customer focused, highly knowledgeable, and very proactive and responsive. I feel terrible that after all the assistance she gave me that I will not be using her services at this time. But rest assured, if I have future travel requirements in China she (and Odyssey Tours) will be the first I turn to for support. Please congratulate or recognize her for her efforts on my behalf -- and while this trip may not have been completed with Odyssey Tours I have become a huge fan of your professionalism.

To this end, I am going to post reviews on some of the travel sites (such as Trip Advisor) of Sophie's (and Odyssey Tours) services and will provide a strong recommendation that people turn to you for planning their trips to China. And she will stay near the top of my rolodex for future China travels.

Again, I am very sorry after all the work Sophie put into helping plan this trip that I cannot execute it with her. But this in no way should be a reflection on her or your company. She was absolutely wonderful.

The scheduled activities from your program have happened quite well, both considering the contents and the way they have been carried out.

The two guides Chris and Shona, very gentle and well educated, perform their function in a very professional manner showing high proficiency and competence: our congratulations and gratitude to their service. Unfortunately, we could not met you personally, despite the fact Dalton mentioned me their meeting in the Hotel at Guilin.

Taking into account the whole stay, I must say it overpassed my expectations. Elisiana was delighted with the three courses and the Museum visits, in such a way she has acquired a complete set of materials and papers to continue and practice the Chinese painting, she learnt, here in Brazil.

One aspect that remains missing is associated with the ceramics, which we’ve seen is quite valuable and present a lot of interesting subjects and techniques for our next visit.

Last but not least, I’d like to thanks sincerely you and your Travel Agency which provided us with excellent service.

Hi Sophie

I can assure you that if/when I come to China again, you will be the first person I talk to. You did such a good job of accommodating our wishes, but perhaps you could have arranged the weather better!

I do have two comments which may help you arrange plans for other people, this is in no way a criticism as you did what exactly we asked for.

My usual sort of holiday has a bit more freedom. I was a bit too organised by our guides, not in Shanghai, mainly in Beijing. With the knowledge of having been there, I feel that I would have liked a bit more time to walk around and experience it for myself, without the guide.

This was particularly true about the meal arrangements. In Shanghai, we arranged several meals ourselves. In Guilin, Julie was very helpful in arranging our meals but we felt guilty at her waiting for us so we insisted that she go home as were very capable of organising ourselves. In Beijing, it didn’t work well as all the chosen restaurants were away from our hotel and we felt pressured into eating early so that Jilly & the driver could go home. We did ask if we could just have the cash and arrange something for ourselves but Jilly wasn’t happy about that. So we did what we wanted (it was our holiday) but felt guilty about having Jilly & the driver working late into the evening, waiting for us.

Therefore, next time I will have more free time to explore and arrange evening meals myself, with suggestions from you.

Thank you once again, all my friends are amazed that we went to China (it seems such an exotic place to us) and had such a comfortable time, I tell them it was all because of you. You can quote me.

I knew Miss Sophie Lu, the tour operator, two years ago, when i ordered a tour with China Odissey services. She was fantastic then with the tour arrangements and she had lots of patience with us and beeing very fast, kind and warm. So, wishing to return to China on a new trip, obviously we contacted Miss Sophie Lu again.

While 2 years ago the tour was done based on one of China Odissey´s tours (Beijing / Xian / Guilin / Shanghai) and adding 3 more days in cities not included on that tour, this time the arrangements were made in another way. Initialy i asked for a tour including Beijing / Datong - Pingyao / Chengdu / Dali - Lijiang / Beijing.

With the expert´s advice of Miss Sophie Lu some cities were added later : Bifengxia (wishing to feed the pandas), Shangri La (wishing to know tibetan´s culture) and Chengde.

Miss Sophie Lu quickly understood our ideas and desires. Her suggestions and replies were very fast (sometimes chatting at MSN) and efficient, helping us to prepare an wonderful tour.

Later, some few days before the tour, i was advised that our flight (reserved and confirmed) from Paris to Beijing was canceled. Even then Miss Sophie Lu understood the trouble and quickly made the necessary changes, getting a perfect solution.

Another point to say, about the guides. After our trip 2 years ago i explained that some guides weren´t satisfactory. This time the guides and the drivers we had were of very good level, thanks to Miss Sophie Lu´s recommendations.

As stated above the tour arrangements were very fast, including the changes made later, very good advices from the tour operator, stayed in nice hotels, saw wonderful spots, saw very nice shows, got very good guides and drivers, experienced unexpected and wonderful moments.

This is the best tour i have done!

For sure China Odissey Tours is the number one! A smart, warm and very well organized team, that understand foreigner´s tastes, needs and feelings. Traveling in China with your services is easy, comfortable, saves time and money, and anyone get quickly the right spots to see, sharing the warm company of very competent guides and drivers.

I was part of David Taylor's group visiting China over the last two and a half weeks and I should just like to let you know how pleased we were to visit your country. Our whole China experience was made so much easier and more enjoyable though through the efforts of yourself and the China Odyssey team. Thank you to all of you.

On every occaision we were met by our guides on time and in a friendly and helpful manner. They organised our itinery in an efficient way and where time permitted made useful suggestions for things we had not thought of because we did not have their local knowledge eg. the evening boat trip round Guilin organised by Julie. Our guide in Chongquing was particularly helpful in filling our day before boarding the river cruise ship. In Xian our guide seemed not only knowledgeable about the Terracotta Warriors but about Chinese history in general and was very happy to share his interest in his excellent English. Our trip to China was a great success, although the girls prefer to live in Malaysia. They did, however, very much enjoy their visit. The Chengdu trip went off without any problems and it was really great to visit the panda sanctuary in Bifengxia - we have some very special memories. I hope that you have received the comment form I filled in. On the whole we were extremely happy with the service provided, with one or two very minor suggestions.

Yes we had a great time in China and have some great memories and photos. Our guide, Belinda and driver were excellent, also our trip to Xian went well and again tour guide and driver were very good. All were punctual and informative. The hotel was quite dated and needed some upgrading with worn, old carpets and broken units in the bathroom along with mould in the corners which could have been regrouted. Overall, we were very satisfied with your prompt handling of our holiday request and the services given by your company. There are two things that we were not really thrilled about--the western dinner and the Peking opera. We loved the Chinese food better. As for the opera, it was very boring for the kids. The acrobatic show will be better for the kids. Also, I think the Lama Temple tour is a must see in Beijing. It is such a beautiful place.

Thank you for your recent Christmas message. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great service you and your company provided us on our tour this past June (2008). I was uncertain about arranging a tour over the internet but my worries soon went away as our tour got underway.

Your guides and drivers were very professional. Every arrangement had been made and the tour ran on schedule every day. The highlightetting in the karst (limestone) topography found in this area.

Although we toured Beijing on our own (with local friends), we need to include it on our lists of favorite places. Like most trips to foreign lands, our trip to China changed our impression of your country and people. We found the people very friendly and enjoyed the many new incredible sights and experiences. I was able to do all the following in 7 days: Hong Kong , Li cruise river, cable car to top of Guilin, Yangshuo, Impression show in Yangshuo, bamboo rafting in Yangshuo, Elephant trunk hill, Reed flute cave, Dafo(Grand Buddha) in Leshan, Panda breeding center in Chengdu, Terracota warriors in Xian, Drum and bell tower, Opera show in Xian, Great Wall,Sacred road, ming tomb, Forbidden city, Tiannemen square in Bejing, lama temple, temple of heaven, acrobatic show.

I enjoyed the flexibility I had to alternate with my activities. My guide (and driver) in Guilin and Chengdu were EXCEPTIONAL (smart and knowledgable).My Guide and driver in Xian were good.

And of course Sophie, you were great. you have great customer service skills and your company should be very proud of you !! you are a great and valuable asset to China Odyssey.

But he managed it perfectly. We were very happy in Datong too. Our guide, Peach, was very kind with my daughter and was always careful for our happiness.

We enjoyed very much our trip in Guilin and Yangshou. Teresa, our guide, did the maximum to find us bicycles and a map of the country. We thought that we would see terrace rice fields in the neighbourhood of Yangshou. We did not know that we had to go to Longshen for that. So we were a bit disappointed. I would have added one day if I had known. I think you could suggest it to your further clients.

No problems at all in Shanghai. We found it a very big and busy city. Our driver have had some problems to find Xitang, but we arrived and we found the city very beautiful.

If we have the opportunity to visit the district of Yunnan, we will surely come to your agency.

Our tour of 4 cities in China organized by China Odyssey was truly memorable and a wonderful experience. The arrangements were excellent as were the hotels, the transport and all the visits. All the tour guides were charming, well informed, very patient and a pleasure to meet.

Everything went smoothly and we could not possibly have done all we did without the input from China Odyssey. Our original plans had to be changed at the last moment because of the terrible earthquake in Sichuan Province. However, China Odyssey rose to the challenge magnificently. In just 2 weeks we felt we had a really good introduction to this huge, fascinating country.

Hello Sophie,

The trip to China was super. This was our first time in Asia and Odyssey tours made it a wonderful experience.

We especially enjoyed the tours to the Bund, Yu Garden, Silk Factory, Pearl Factory, and the Green Tea Garden. We also enjoyed the Lakes in Hangzhou and the Pagoda. These portions of the tour were not only fun and educational but also gave us different views of China. We really liked the Temple in Hangzhou as well. My husband would like to suggest that you offer more poultry food choices in your standard meals like Chicken. We had the same menu twice in Shanghai. Danni worked with the staff to get us Chicken. The restaurant in Hangzhou with the private room was AWESOME. We felt so special.

We really appreciated the customized help with the Train and the plane tickets to Hong Kong. Ming and Danni (our tour guides) taught us so much that we felt comfortable traveling around Shanghai on our own the last couple of days were in the area.

We had a great time. It was a bit fast. I wish we had at least three days in each city instead of two. Maybe the next time. The guides and drivers were excellent and well informed. We especially enjoyed the driver in Beijing. He was fabulous, treated us like rock starts always taking us to the front of the line of cars and buildings, then picking us up. The weather treated us well and the rain in Guilin was perfect as it provided wonderful misty views of the Li river. We were able to communicate with all the guides with no trouble. It was a wonderful trip and we look forward to doing it again sometime. Attached are a couple of pictures.

Hello Sophie

I would like to thank you for the excellent tour that you arranged for us. The personal driver and very informed guides made the trip a real pleasure.We saw all we planned and any deviation we required was cheerfully included.

Unfortunately when leaving Shanghai, Maggie arranged to wait with my father while I lodged my bag prior to departure. Even though my father had a seven hour wait before boarding, they disappeared and I was left for 20 minutes wondering where they had gone. I then spent the next 15 minutes searching the terminal without success. The result was that I missed saying goodbye to my father whom I may not see for another year.This left a bit of a taint on the otherwise excellent trip. I will have no hesitation recommending your tour company to my friends.

I have returned the completed survey. My family and I are still talking about our fantastic trip to China. We truely enjoyed our tour in August. The only thing I would have changed would have been the heat! But no one can change the weather.

Our tour guides, Kelly and Hoffman were great and we are so glad to have gotten to know them. Kelly was so much fun and we spent alot of time laughing with her as we explored Beijing, we miss her! She is a gem, a shining star. Please tell her, we think fondly of her!

Dear Sophie,

I was planning to e-mail you since I returned from my vacation, but due to the jet-lag and unpacking I was not able to do so.Our trip to China was very interesting and we really enjoyed it. It was the caring guides who made our trip enjoyable and worthwhile. All of the guides were very helpful and friendly. They all spoke surprisingly good english as compared to the Hotel staff at the hotels we stayed in, who could not speak or understand english at all). Our guide in Beijing (Lucy) was very caring, friendly and helpful, she took me to a super market to buy diapers for my baby daughter, after she found out that, her diaper bag was left in the car and the driver was gone. Actually I wanted to ask you for a favour, I have misplaced Lucy's e-mail address and I told her that I will e-mail her a picture of my daughter and Lucy that we photographed in Beijing. So please could you send me her e-mail address.

Had the weather been little bit cooler it would have been the perfect vacation .In Shanghai the temp went up to 39 degree Celcius one day, that day we were out all day, we went to Nanjing street and Yuan garden as well as the Bund. Next day we had to take a flight to Beijing and from Beijing back to Karachi.

Overall we enjoyed our trip and I would like to thank you for organizing our trip to China .After looking at your pic, I am regretting not visiting Guilin. Scenery in the background is absolutely beautiful.

Good morning Sophie!

We have come home from the trip of our life! Our viewing of Chinas' scenery left wonderful memories for us. We love the Chinese people as without exception, all were as nice and gracious as you! It was special for you to meet with us in Guilan and we enjoyed the walk and visit.

We have no complaints about our guides, drivers, special events, or sites that we saw. all our guides spoke adequate English, were willing to book additional activities, and were very kind. We could not have arranged a vacation like this ourselves. You did a very professional job!

We have never been much on Chinese food in the USA but must admit that we did enjoy the food in China. Never being tea drinkers, we learned to drink that too. We did stop Sunday night in Minot and had a hamburger and refillable diet pop!

We picked up some things to remember China- some jade, terra-cotta warriors,silk pictures, cloisinae(spelling)vase and chopsticks. Cindy had to get some clothes as well as a fake name brand purse.

We are on the mend, Jane has been up and about for a couple of days now and I went to Canberra yesterday.

I went especially back to "Flight Centre" where we booked our flight to China, to tell them how pleased we were with Odyssey Tours! In the evening I showed at the video club highlights of the Liu Sanjie light and water show in Yangshuo; we are allowed only 6 mins, so I had to do a lot of editing, it was well received.

After looking after Jane for two weeks, I expect that next week I shall have some more time to work on our journal and write some comments about Odyssey Tours.

Hi Sophie,

You look gorgeous in your picture. My trip was a blast. I loved that we had our own private tour because we left when you we were done. I suck at bargaining but my boyfriend learned the trade quick. hehehe The great wall was amazing and no wonder it's a wonder of the world. How those poor small people got to the mountain tops to build this wall was beyond words. We walked a mile and a half and on the way down I was scared and had to hold on to the railing. I'm not afraid of heights but I was starting to up there. Shanghai was great for shopping and had beautiful buildings and I also enjoyed the garden. I did the most shopping in Hong Kong. I bought a small burma jade bendent. I write you more later. Over all it was a awesome trip. Thank you.

The Yangtze Cruise ship was wonderful!!! The staff were terrific, the food great and the beds very comfortable.

For your information, we thought Lei (our guide in Xian) was exceptional – the best of our guides. Very knowledgeable, very flexible, very easy to understand and gave us some great suggestions on some optional things to do/see.

Sophia, our guide in Beijing, did not give us an evaluation form to fill out. She said it wasn't needed. She was terrific, very knowledgeable, and she was great with the kids. We also really liked the hotel in Beijing – the beds were really comfortable.

Lastly, the information you provided in advance of the trip was very helpful.

Each guide was fantastic and each city was?truly amazing. we can not forget the Great Wall, the?Terra-cotta warriors, our?cruise and all the temples and people we met. We are already planning our next trip back.

I know you tried to help us in Beijing after the mix up at the airport and we thank you so much for doing this. The Bund Hotel was just perfect and we were well looked after. What upset us was that the manager lied to us rather than trying to fix the problem which cause the grief.

I have already told people to make contact with China Odyssey, do they make contact with you?

it was great to meet you and share dinner with you and go shopping. Sarah bought a warrior which is being shipped home so she was very happy with the shopping.
