Cultural Tour of Hidden Guizhou

Itinerary

• Day 1: Arrival in Guiyang

  Welcome to Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province. Your local guide will meet you at the arrival hall with your chauffeur and private vehicle on standby. Later, a comfortable transfer (half an hour drive) will take you to your hotel for check-in.

  Take a walking tour of the old town of Guiyang in the late afternoon. According to your physical strength, you can spend 1 to 3 hours here exploring its old lanes and observing the locals' daily life. Enjoy a cup of a local beer brewer's Pale Ale at a small beerhouse in a hidden alley as well as a delicious Guiyang cuisine dinner before returning to the hotel for rest.

• Day 2: Guiyang, Excursion to Baojiatun Village & Zhoujia Village

  Baojiatun Village, about 65 km away from Guiyang, is a famous Han village with a history of more than 600 years and often takes about two hours' drive on the road. Here, you may see the locals making traditional local Han-style belts by hand, enjoy a local opera called Dixi performed by villagers, and learn some moves of the local martial art, Baojia Quan.

  Later, proceed to another village, Zhoujia Village to experience mask-making. Try to make a small wooden mask for yourself with a carving knife under the guidance of a master. When the tour ends, go back to the hotel and enjoy the remaining time at leisure.

• Day 3: Guiyang - Leishan, Miao Style Long-table Banquet

  After breakfast, take about 1.5 hours' drive to Guiding County. Spend three to four hours here enjoying a stand-up paddleboard activity along the Wengcheng River surrounded by breathtaking nature and authentic countryside of minority villages.

  In the afternoon, proceed to your guesthouse in the Baibi Village. Enjoy sunset at the guesthouse yard with a nice glass of sundowner and then experience the Miao style long-table banquet as dinner with local Miao villagers.

• Day 4: Leishan, Full-day Activities around Baibi Village

  If the weather is nice, you will wake up and enjoy breakfast with the view of the cloud sea. Be ready to take a full-day activity in and around Baibi Village to discover its charm as much as possible. You'll find a lot of fun through tea making, farm-work learning, and family visiting. The tour today will conclude with a small bonfire party with local Miao people in the evening.

• Day 5: Leishan - Guiyang, Paper-making & Rice Terraces

  Take about an hour's drive to Shiqiao Village, which is famous for the technology of making paper in ancient China. Following a local master, you will learn about the process of paper-making and try to make your own piece of paper as a souvenir.

  Drive another hour to Gaoyao Village, where you can observe the beautiful rice terraces with an area of over 1,000 acres. When traveling during late May and early June, you may be surprised by its watering terraces that seem like numerous mirrors reflecting the blue sky and white clouds; while in autumn, this area will welcome you with the rolling hills covered by endless golden rice.

  After the tour, head to Guiyang for the night.

• Day 6: Guiyang, Departure

  Your Guizhou exploration comes to an end. Enjoy free time until your local driver transfers you to the airport for your departure flight or the railway station for your train to the next destination.
