Celebrated by the Miao ethnic people in southwest China's Guizhou Province, this festival is known as one of the oldest "Oriental Valentine's Day," held on the 15th day of the third month in the lunar calendar. During these 3 days, festivities include singing and dancing to the rhythmic beats of wooden drums and lusheng, exchanging gifts, and young men and women from the Miao ethnic group getting engaged. Food plays a significant role in this festival, with every Miao family dyeing and steaming five-color glutinous rice (red, blue, yellow, white, and black). Savoring this distinctive flavor is a highlight of the celebration.
Qingming Festival
Generally held from April 4-6, Qingming Festival is known as Tomb-Sweeping Day.
