China is vast and suitable for traveling all year round, there are so many places worthy to visit.

Generally, the travel peak seasons are spring (April - June) and autumn (September - November). The weather is cosy and the natural views are captivating. If traveling with kids, you'd better avoid China's "Golden Week" holidays (May 1-5 and October 1-7) due to large crowds.

For summer trips (July-August), early planning is essential, as it's a peak season for domestic travel, you probably have to meet a long queue at some top attractions. To escape the heat, consider destinations with cooler, scenic landscapes like Yunnan, Zhangjiajie, Jiuzhaigou, Guilin, and Guizhou.

Traveling in winter would be a good idea if you love Chinese culture, with fewer tourists and and lower costs on hotels and flights. You can also experience winter events like the Harbin Ice and Snow festival, or celebrate Chinese New Year across the country, immersing yourself in China's most important holiday traditions.

A 10-14 day trip is ideal for a family tour in China. This length is not too tiring to enjoy an international trip and not too short to cover all the highlights of China. For example: you can spend 4 days in Beijing, 2 days in Xian, 2 days in Chengdu, 2 days in Guilin, and another 3 days in Shanghai.

If you're traveling with teenagers, adding 3 days in Zhangjiajie is a great option. Of course, there are various itineraries to choose from depending on your needs and budget. We can help customize a kid-friendly itinerary tailored just for your family.

We understand that choosing the right destination is key to a great family trip. It should cater to both adults and kids, with a relaxed pace that allows children to have fun while parents enjoy some well-deserved leisure time. Family-friendly hotels are also a must. With that in mind, we recommend these five destinations for your first family trip to China.

As the capital of China from ancient times, Beijing no doubt would be a must-visited city. Whether you and your kids are interested in history, culture, or modern technology, Beijing offers plenty of exciting experiences.

Beyond exploring iconic landmarks like the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and a rickshaw tour through the Hutongs, your kids can enjoy hands-on craft activities such as painting Peking Opera masks, sculpting clay figurines, or hand-pinching noodles.

Where to Stay in Beijing

From budget-friendly stays to luxury hotels, Beijing has plenty of options. Just let us know your preferences, our travel consultant will find the perfect place for your family.

  • Downtown Convenience: Staying near Wangfujing Avenue is ideal for shopping and easy access to attractions, though prices tend to be higher.
  • Close to Major Attractions: Hotels near the Temple of Heaven or the Summer Palace provide easy access to famous sites, and some hotels even can see the view of the attractions.

As a renowned historic city, Xi'an is more than just the Terracotta Warriors. It's a fantastic destination for kids to experience traditional culture and enjoy outdoor activities - cycle atop the Ancient City Wall, savor roast mutton in the bustling Muslim Quarter, or take on the challenge of hiking Mount Huashan.

Xi'an is divided into two main areas: the Inner City, enclosed by the Ancient City Wall, and the New District. Most of the top attractions are within the Inner City, making it the best place to stay for easy access to historical sites and convenient facilities. We highly recommend choosing accommodation in this area for a more immersive and hassle-free experience.
