Day 2: Forbidden City & Central Axis Walk
Begin your day inside the Forbidden City, entering through its southern gate and following the central axis through a sequence of grand courtyards and halls. As you walk deeper, the atmosphere gradually shifts from formal ceremonial spaces to quieter residential quarters, revealing how the imperial court was structured and lived. Take time to observe the scale, symmetry, and details that define this former palace complex.
After exiting, continue to Jingshan Park, located just north of the palace. A short climb up the hill leads you to a viewpoint overlooking the rooftops of the Forbidden City, where the full layout of the central axis unfolds clearly from above.
Later, trace the southern section of Beijing's Central Axis on foot. Starting at Yongdingmen, pass by the exterior of Xiannongtan, once used for imperial rituals. Then continue through Tianqiao and Qianmen Street, where historic shopfronts line pedestrian lanes. The walk ends at Zhengyangmen, a former main gate to the inner city, bringing together the ceremonial and everyday life once connected by this axis.

Day 4: Great Wall With Night View & Gubei Water Town
Leave the city behind and drive about 1.5 hours to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall. Compared to touristy sections, this area feels more open and less crowded. You'll walk along uneven stone paths, passing watchtowers at regular intervals, with views of the Wall stretching across mountain ridges. The hike can be adjusted to your pace, allowing time to stop and take in the surroundings.
Afterward, continue to Gubei Water Town at the foot of the mountains, where stone bridges, canals, and traditional-style buildings create a quiet and well-paced transition after time on the Wall. As evening falls, make your way to the Simatai section of the Great Wall for a night visit. Under soft lighting, the Wall appears quieter and more atmospheric, with the surrounding mountains fading into the distance, offering a clear contrast to the openness of the day.

Day 5: Ming Tombs With Dingling & Sacred Way
Today, travel to the Ming Tombs area and begin along the Sacred Way, a long pathway lined with stone statues of officials, animals, and mythical figures. Walking this route gives a sense of the ceremonial approach used in imperial times.
You'll then visit Dingling, the only excavated tomb among the Ming Tombs. Descending into the underground palace, you can see the structure and layout of the burial chambers, which helps you understand imperial burial customs more concretely. The visit is straightforward and informative, focusing on historical context rather than spectacle.

For lunch, enjoy a traditional copper hot pot meal, where thinly sliced meat and vegetables are cooked at the table. The experience is simple, interactive, and rooted in local dining habits.
Later, take part in a new energy vehicle experience, including a closer look at electric car technology and the opportunity to sit in or test drive the vehicle, gaining insight into how China is developing its modern transportation sector.
