About This Trip
This journey combines Chengdu's everyday city life with rural experiences and the dramatic landscapes of Zhangjiajie. In Chengdu, explore giant pandas base, relaxed local life, and a rural farming experience outside the city. A high-speed train then takes you to Zhangjiajie, where towering sandstone peaks, misty scenery, forest trails, mountain lakes, and cliffside views create a striking natural scene.

Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu
Touching down in Chengdu, a private transfer will take you directly to your hotel. Chengdu is known for its relaxed pace of life, teahouse culture, and long-standing culinary traditions that define the city's everyday life.
The remainder of the day is at leisure or step outside to explore nearby streets. Watch daily life unfold at a gentle pace, from local neighborhood scenes to small eateries and casual street activity.

Day 2: Slow Chengdu: Pandas, Temple & Park Life
The morning is spent at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, where you can see China's most beloved animals in spacious, natural-feeling habitats as they go about their daily routines of feeding, climbing, and resting.
Continue to Wenshu Monastery, one of Chengdu's most important Buddhist temples. Pause for tea in a shaded teahouse within the courtyard, followed by sutra writing, a traditional calligraphy practice for quiet reflection.
In the afternoon, head to People's Park, a popular local gathering place. Residents dance, play mahjong, and spend their time outdoors. Stroll through the park and observe Chengdu's laid-back local scenes.

Day 3: Farm-to-Table Experience & Local Flavors
Today moves beyond Chengdu's city center into surrounding countryside and riverside neighborhoods. In Pidu District, take part in seasonal farming activities such as planting or harvesting, offering hands-on insight into local agricultural life and regional ingredients. A farmhouse lunch follows, featuring fresh local produce and home-style Sichuan dishes.
Return to the city in the afternoon for a relaxed walk along the Wangping Street riverside area, exploring creative lanes and small neighborhood spaces. As evening approaches, continue to Jianshe Road Food Street, a lively local dining area known for a wide range of Chengdu snacks.

Day 4: Chengdu to Zhangjiajie by High-Speed Train
Following breakfast and check-out, transfer to the railway station for a high-speed train to Zhangjiajie, taking approximately 4 - 5.5 hours. On arrival, continue by local transfer to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free to settle in and rest before exploring Zhangjiajie.

Day 5: Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain & Ten-Mile Gallery
The day explores some of Zhangjiajie's most iconic landscapes. The Bailong Elevator, a glass outdoor lift rising 330 meters along a cliff face, takes you up to the Yuanjiajie plateau, where towering sandstone pillars stretch across the horizon. These formations are widely believed to have inspired the floating mountains in Avatar, though their scale is even more impressive in reality.
Continue to Tianzi Mountain for sweeping views of forested peaks rising through drifting mist. A cable car descent reveals shifting perspectives over valleys and rugged terrain below.
The day concludes with a scenic drive through the Ten-Mile Gallery, a narrow valley lined with unusual rock outcrops and lush vegetation.

Day 6: Golden Whip Stream & Baofeng Lake
Golden Whip Stream offers a calm start to the morning, with a trail following a clear waterway winding between towering sandstone pillars. This is one of the most pleasant walking routes in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
From here, head to Baofeng Lake, a mountain lake surrounded by steep cliffs and dense greenery. A short boat ride provides an easy way to take in the reflections of the surrounding landscape.
At the end of the day, enjoy a foot massage to unwind.

Day 7: Tianmen Mountain & Departure
A cable car ride takes you above forested ridgelines to the summit area of Tianmen Mountain, opening wide views across the Zhangjiajie basin below. At the top, Tianmen Cave, a natural rock arch, stands as one of the region's most iconic landmarks.
After the visit, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your journey through Chengdu and Zhangjiajie.
