Day 3: Beijing
The Temple of Heaven once served as the communication bridge between the emperor and Heaven in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Its architecture, whether on the overall layout or a single building, embodies the theory of the Harmony between humans and Nature and the theory of the imperial power coffered by the god.
Built for more than 2,000 years and spanning over 20,000 kilometers, the Great Wall is a grand military project to most feudal dynasties in the central plains and the artificial watershed between agricultural civilization and the nomadic civilization of China. What's more, it provides very magnificent landscapes.
Your today's tour will focus on these two heritage sites. Besides the dignified buildings, at the Temple of Heaven, you may also see many locals enjoying their retired time: playing Tai Chi or diabolo, practicing calligraphy on the ground with a huge bush, singing, or dance in folk styles.
At the Great Wall, Mutianyu section, you will take the cable car up and then hike a little more to enjoy the magnificent surrounding landscapes.
