Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu
Welcome to Chengdu, the gateway to the largest population of giant pandas! Once your flight lands at the airport, your personal local guide will greet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
Day 2: Chengdu, Giant Panda Encounter
A tour to Chengdu is not complete without seeing the giant pandas, the city's most famous residents. Giant pandas are usually more active in the early morning, so arrive at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding at around 8:30 am so that you can see them having breakfast or playing with each other.
After lunch, you will go to visit Sanxingdui Museum, the only museum dedicated to the lost civilization of Shu Kingdom (221 - 263). You will gain a unique perspective of the Chinese history by seeing and understanding unearthed relics including countless grotesque bronzes, gold, pottery and jade which date back to 4,500 years ago. The 2.62-meter-tall standing statue, the 1.38-meter-wide bronze mask, and the 3.95-meter-high bronze tree are surely unmissable.
Optional: you may like to watch a Sichuan opera in Shu Feng Ya Yun Sichuan Opera (USD 35 per person) this evening, during which you will be amazed at different facial make-ups that are changed fast and mysteriously.

To get a full view of its grandness, an optional relaxing join-in boat cruise on Lejiang River is also available with an extra charge.
Afterwards, take a 30-minute drive to Mt. Emei. Upon arrival, visit Baoguo Temple, which is Mt. Emei's largest temple and the doorway to the mountain. Stay overnight at a nearby hotel.

Descend by the cable car and go to Wannian Temple Parking Lot by bus (about 1.5 hours). Here, you will visit the Wannian Temple, one of the first temples built on Mt. Emei, with a round-trip cable car. Watching people praying and doing offerings and listening to the chanting of the monks inside this ancient temple, you will get a sense of peace and serenity.

Day 5: Chengdu, a Taste of Local Life
Today, you will join in a half-day rural life experience in an eco-farm, run by Ms. Gao and her family. Here rice, vegetables, and various herbs are all grown in an organic way, without using any chemical fertilizers. You can help them do some farm work such as digging, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, through which you will get to know these plants better. You will also enjoy an authentic home-cooked meal as lunch with the family. Since the whole family are Buddhists and vegetarians, your lunch will be vegetarian too.
