Longji is a good place to experience the unique customs of Zhuang and Yao minority groups, but much better known for its majestic terraces. From late May to early June, the watering terraces look like numerous mirrors reflecting the blue sky and white clouds; between July and November, the rolling hills seem wearing endless green or golden blankets.
This morning, you will spend around two hours enjoying the stunning rice terraces. After lunch in the village, take about 1.5 hours to Sanjiang. Check into the best hotel in the county, have a short break, and then take quick sightseeing in the county seat meeting its Drum Tower, the Bird's Nest Theatre, and the Wind and Rain Bridge.

Day 3: Sanjiang, Discovery of an authentic Dong village
Your discovery of the little-known Dong village will start from the Drum Tower, the center of village events and public activities. From there, the grandma from family Lu will invite you to her home, welcome you with oil tea, and show you the wedding dresses she has sewn, stitch by stitch, for her daughter since the girl was 12 years old. The dresses are fringed with delicate embroidery and at the neighbor's house, you will see how the clothes and embroidery were produced in most traditional ways. Her son, Kuan, will take you to see their pigsty, tea plantation, fish pool, and the village school. You can also join in some farm works or provide an English class to the children in the school.
If you are a risk-taker, it is not bad to try the unique flavors of Dong cuisine in the village, or a packed lunch from your hotel will be prepared in advance.
