About This Trip

This 3-day trip will take you around the historical Pingyao. Shuanglin Temple is your first stop, and you'll see exquisitely painted statues of Tang, Song, and Yuan there. After seeing the largest Shanxi Courtyard Houses - Wang Family Compound, you'll enter the Ancient City of Pingyao. You can find the majestic Historic City Wall, the ancient bank of Rishengchang Exchange Shop, and Ming-Qing Street in this 14th-century Chinese city.

Itinerary

Day 1: Taiyuan - Pingyao, Arrival
Welcome to Shanxi! Upon your arrival in Taiyuan, your private tour guide will meet you at the airport and take down to Pingyao. Upon arrival, hotel check-in and have a rest.
In the afternoon, head for a famous Buddhist temple nearby - Shuanglin Temple. The evening is free at leisure for you to discover.

Day 2: Pingyao, Wang Family Compound & Pingyao Ancient Town
Drive out of the town to visit Wang Family Compound, the castle-like grand residence of distinctive Shanxi architecture and a photographic place with some cave dwellings around.
Later, get back to Pingyao Ancient Town and visit some cultural sites, including the Ancient City Wall, Rishengchang Exchange Shop and Ming and Qing Street. Rest of the day is yours to explore.
