Tour route: Beijing - Xian - Chengdu - Yangtze River - Shanghai
Say hello to China! When your flight lands in Beijing, your local guide is ready to meet you at the customs exit, holding a placard with your name. Then you will be escorted to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to recover from jet lag or to ramble around on your own.
On this day, you will first visit Tiananmen Square. Followed by the magnificent Forbidden City - the largest palace complex around the world, you will really be amazed at this imperial palace that emperors and their concubines once lived in. In the afternoon, you will explore Beijing's Hutongs by rickshaw to see the local lifestyle of Beijingers.
Optional: A spectacular Chinese Kung Fu Show with an impressive display of Kung Fu skills is highly recommended.
Today, you will visit the Temple of Heaven first, and then drive about 1.5 hour to Mutianyu to visit the Great Wall (Cable cars included). Older but less-crowded than Badaling section, Mutianyu section offers an incredible view of this ancient wonder, including watchtowers and winding walls.
In the morning, you will visit the incredible life-size Terracotta Warriors. These clay statues of soldiers, horses and chariots all standing in battle formation were commissioned by the emperor of the Qin dynasty as part of his mausoleum. Continue to visit a Jade Gallery for known jade culture of China. Followed by a pleasant cycling atop Xi'an City Wall (1-2 hours) which offers you a view of old Xi'an one side and modern Xi'an the other side.
Optional: The famous Tang Dynasty Show, as a not-to-miss performance in Xi'an, is highly recommended.
After breakfast, be familiar with this historic city by visiting Big Wild Goose Pagoda which is regarded as a symbol of Xi'an. After that, move to the largest mosque in Xi'an - Great Mosque. Take a leisure stroll in Muslim Food Street before taking the speedy train to Chengdu.
Upon your arrival in Chengdu - a leisure city as well as the home town of giant panda, be met and transferred to your hotel.
In the morning, head for the Huanglongxi Ancient Town to discover this 1,700-years-old town and its old tradition. Later, be escorted to the railway station for train to Chongqing. Upon arrival, be met and then transferred to the dock to board your Yangtze River cruise ship.
Your memorable Yangtze Cruise begins. Various activities onboard will expand your preparation for Yangtze exploration. Your ship will stop for a shore excursion at the famous Shibaozhai, a 12-story pavilion built against the rock.
Usually there will be a welcome party in the evening, hosted by the captain. This is a good chance to make new friends and be immersed in the staff's hospitality. So dress up and be ready to enjoy.
Besides the enchanting landscape along the Yangtze River, today's sightseeing will be highlighted by the shore excursion to Shennong Stream. Deep gorges, green mountains, crystal waters, appalling cliffs, thriving groves and perhaps native wildlife make this excursion worthwhile. Back to your ship after the stop, the ballroom maybe an ideal place to party the night away.
After breakfast, you will first have a cultural visit to Shanghai Museum with displays of bronze artifacts, coins, and art. Followed by the former French Concession to feel the charm of old Shanghai. Proceed to a silk workshop to see how Chinese silk is produced. The next stop will be the enchanting Yu Garden. Visiting the nearby bustling Yuyuan Bazaar will let you see the local lifestyle of this city. Continue to the Bund - Shanghai's standout landmark.
Tonight, you may choose to watch the amazing Acrobatics Show as your optional night activity.
After you check out of the hotel, you will be escorted to the airport for your flight to your next destination.

It will meet the basic requirements for a comfortable stay, good size and clean guest rooms with AC, TV, hot water, shower and private bathrooms. On-site restaurants with breakfast included and lunch or dinner at your own pick up. A small fitness center or spa can be expected.
Hotel Arrangement for Comfortable Tour Class
Normally you'll stay at formal and large hotels conveniently located with shopping, dining and entertainment facilities nearby. Quality service, fully furnished rooms, restaurants, room service, fitness center and swimming pool (in very rare cases there is no pool) all together offer an above-average accommodation experience.
Usually good 4-star hotels are adopted or boutique hotels at request. Hotels best available will be arranged if no qualified choice, e.g. in remote area.
Hotel Arrangement for Deluxe Tour Class
Luxurious hotel with top-notch service and an extensive range of facilities for an excellent accommodation experience. Multiple restaurants on site with extensive menus for choice, room service available 24/7, fitness center and concierge service round out the experience. Hotels best available will be arranged if no qualified choice, e.g. in remote area.
Normally China Odyssey Tours provides two meals each day: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.
It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, Chinese style, or a combination.
When plan your lunches, we consider the balance of food quality, dining environment and tour convenience. We provide a la carte lunch in a local restaurant whenever possible. A la carte meal will give you an opportunity to eat at local restaurant, follow local customs, and taste local dishes. The a la carte allowance would be adequate for a decent meal in our recommended local restaurants, but varies from different restaurants and different cities. However in some remote regions where it’s simply hard to find a non-tourist restaurant, the meal could be arranged at a local tourist restaurant or a local family.
Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in China. This is why we provide you this flexibility of food choice. Your private guide will always give you good suggestions based on your preferences.
