Itinerary
Day 1: Jiankou Great Wall & Camping
Your guide will pick you up at your downtown hotel to start the adventure. After a 2-hour drive, begin your hike at the Jiankou Section of the Great Wall, famous for its dramatic steepness and rugged trails. Some stretches may require you to climb using both hands and feet. Upon reaching Zhengbeilou watchtower, a well-preserved beacon structure, take in the spectacular sight of the Wall snaking like a dragon's spine across lush green hills.
In the evening, enjoy a rewarding BBQ with your group as you relax. As night falls, immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere with a stunning sunset over the Wall, the starry sky above, and the sounds of nature that echo from centuries past. Tonight, like an ancient warrior, you'll spend a memorable night camping in a tent on the Great Wall.
Day 2: Mutianyu Great Wall & Gubei Water Town
Wake up to witness one of the most unforgettable sunrises of your life, casting its golden glow over the Great Wall. Soak in the serene beauty of the landscape before resuming your hike towards the Jiankou Section, which takes about 3 hours. Challenge your endurance and enjoy the reward of breathtaking views along the way.
Later, head to Gubei Water Town, a charming recreation of a traditional Chinese village that feels like a step back in time. Savor local delicacies, participate in cultural activities, and enjoy performances like traditional opera, drone shows, and water displays for the rest of the day.
Day 3: Gubeikou to Jinshanling Great Wall
Begin your moderate hike today with a private transfer to the Gubeikou Section of the Great Wall, a 2.5-hour drive away. Trek this less-traveled section, known for its raw and ancient charm, with fortifications in their original state. Look for centuries-old inscriptions left by generals during your 4.5-hour hike.
After the hike, return to Gubei Water Town to relax amidst its scenic landscapes and traditional architecture of black tiles and white walls.
In the evening, take a leisurely walk or opt for a cable car ride at the Simatai Great Wall, where a captivating blend of shimmering waters, enchanting lights, and majestic towers creates a magical atmosphere.
Day 4: Jinshanling to West Simatai Great Wall
Spend the morning exploring more of the picturesque Gubei Water Town. Then, embark on a hike through the Jinshanling Section of the Great Wall, renowned for its scenic beauty and mix of restored and untouched areas. Your guide will share stories about the Wall's defense systems, including its watchtowers and branch cities, as you trek along this iconic section.
In the afternoon, return to Beijing with a head full of unforgettable memories.
