Itinerary

• Day 1: Arrival in Guiyang

  Upon arrival in Guiyang, meet a local tour guide at the airport exit hall, who will accompany you to your hotel for check-in along with a veteran driver. The remainder of the day is yours to relax in the hotel or go exploring on your own.

• Day 2: Guiyang - Kaili, Miao Villages of Matang and Upper Langde

  On the way to Kaili today, you will discover two distinct Miao minority groups. Matang Village, about 2.5 hours north of Guiyang, is home to Gejia, a subgroup of the Miao. The tribe is known as the batik expert in Kaili since the art of batik plays a key role in their culture. The colorful clothing and handcrafted adornments they wear daily distinguish them from other Miao groups. Upper Langde Village is a great place to experience the primitive lifeway of long skirt Miao. Here, you can see the females in colorful long skirts, appreciate traditional Miao architecture like wooden stilted houses, and enjoy interesting singing and dancing performances accompanied by Lusheng.

• Day 3: Kaili - Zenlei Village, Visit the Ethnic Minority of the Shui

  After breakfast, you will travel to Zenlei, a remote hilltop village with a history of more than 300 years. Perched halfway up to the mountain surrounded by breathtaking nature, it is a typical Shui village with well-preserved traditional culture and customs. Following your tour guide, you can get an insight into the daily life of the Shui and learn about their unique customs that differ from the Miao. When the tour ends, stay overnight in the village's only guesthouse.

  • Zenlei Village

• Day 4: Zenlei - Dali Dong Village of Rongjiang County

  Travel onward to Dali Dong Village in Rongjiang County today. The Dong people are good at music and renowned for their polyphonic choir singing, known as the Kam Grand Choir. Stroll around the village with your local guide to see the villagers going through their daily lives, visit the distinctive Drum Tower, and relax in the ancient wind-and-rain bridges. You may also have a chance to enjoy the singing and dancing performances by the Dong people.

  • Dali Dong Village

• Day 5: Dali - Jiabang - Zhaoxing, Rice Terraces

  Take a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Jiabang, the most spectacular rice terraces in Guizhou province. The terraced fields flooded with water look like a beautiful Chinese landscape painting in the spring and winter, while the summer terraces are full of green rice waves, like strips of green ribbons fluttering in the wind. The best time to visit is in the autumn, particularly in October when the green waves turn yellow from light to dark. Whenever you come, you will be surprised by its charm.

  Afterward, proceed to Zhaoxing, the largest and well-known of the Dong villages in Guizhou, for the night.

• Day 6: Zhaoxing, Departure

  Wake up in the early morning and take a short drive to the hamlet of Tang'an. From here, you can take a medium hiking tour along with the terraced fields down through the villages to Zhaoxing. Soak in the breathtaking natural beauty and have the chance to observe villagers working in the fields.

  Return to the hotel for a rest before being escorted to Congjiang Train Station for your departure train. Time to say goodbye and look forward to seeing you again at other destinations.
