Itinerary
Embark on an exhilarating hike from the Jiankou Section to the Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, a less-traveled path that offers an adventurous journey for intrepid explorers. Before reaching Jiankou Pass, you'll navigate through a wild route overgrowing weeds and bushes, but the real challenges still lie ahead.
Jiankou is an untouched stretch of the Great Wall, celebrated by veteran hikers for its steep climbs and the stunning blend of natural landscapes and ancient architecture. After about an hour of trekking, you'll reach Zhengbeilou Watchtower, a fortress nestled at the heart of Jiankou. The name "Jiankou," meaning "Arrow Nock," reflects the shape of the Wall, resembling an arrow with its collapsed ridge opening wide. From the tower's vantage point, you can take in the full grandeur of this "arrow" formation.
As you continue, encounter narrow steps, partially weathered brick walls, and scenic highlights such as the ox-horn-shaped Niujiaobian section. Your adventure concludes at Mutianyu, a beautifully reconstructed section of the Wall, where you can marvel at the striking contrast between the wild and restored tracks.
