  Begin at The Bund, where colonial-era architecture stands in striking contrast to the modern skyline across the Huangpu River. Continue to Yu Garden, a refined example of classical Chinese garden design, where pavilions, rockeries, and quiet courtyards create a sense of calm within the city.

  From here, step into the surrounding old street and market for a relaxed food walk at lunchtime.
