Itinerary

• Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu

  Upon arrival in Chengdu, meet your driver and guide for a private transfer into the city. Known for its relaxed rhythm and strong everyday culture, Chengdu offers an easy and welcoming introduction to southwest China.

  The rest of the day is free to settle in. Wander nearby streets, sample a few local snacks, or simply take in the slow pace that makes the city so appealing from the very beginning.

• Day 2: Chengdu's Pandas, Hotpot & Tea Time

  The day begins at the Chengdu Panda Base. Set within expansive bamboo groves, the pandas move through their slow, rhythmic routines - feeding, climbing, resting, and occasionally tumbling through one another's space. The early morning light and cooler temperatures offer the best opportunity to observe them at their most active.

  Lunch introduces one of Sichuan's most iconic dining experiences: hotpot, with ingredients cooked at the table and paired with a variety of dipping sauces.

  Local life takes center stage later in the day at People's Park. Settle into a traditional teahouse for a cup of tea, browse the well-known matchmaking corner with its handwritten profiles, and learn the basics of mahjong from locals who treat the game as part competition, part social ritual. It's the kind of afternoon that gives you a feel for what Chengdu is really about.

• Day 3: Sanxingdui Museum & Chengdu Evening Food Tour

  In the morning, head to the Sanxingdui Museum. It reveals one of China's most remarkable ancient civilizations, dating back over 3,000 years. Bronze masks, gold artifacts, and ritual objects present a mysterious culture that reshapes the understanding of early Chinese history.

  Later, explore Chengdu's local dining culture with your guide, moving through authentic neighborhood eateries known for regional Sichuan specialties. The experience focuses on local flavors and everyday dining culture rather than formal restaurants, offering a direct look into how locals eat and socialize.

• Day 4: Chengdu to Lhasa by Air

  After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lhasa. The journey crosses from the Sichuan Basin to the Tibetan Plateau, with a clear shift in landscape and altitude.

  On arrival in Lhasa, a private transfer takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is kept at a relaxed pace to allow time for acclimatization before the days ahead.

• Day 5: Drepung Monastery & Sera Monastery Monk Debates

  Set on the hillsides outside Lhasa, Drepung Monastery was founded in 1416 and once stood as the largest monastery in the world. Its vast courtyards and whitewashed buildings stretch across the mountainside, while the rhythm of daily monastic life reflects the scale and depth of Tibetan Buddhism in a striking way.

  Later, a visit to Sera Monastery reveals a very different but equally memorable atmosphere. Beneath the shade of courtyard trees, monks gather in the debating courtyard each afternoon to engage in animated philosophical discussion. Sharp claps, expressive gestures, and rapid exchanges bring centuries-old Buddhist learning traditions vividly to life, creating one of the most distinctive cultural experiences in Lhasa.

• Day 6: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street

  The Potala Palace needs little introduction. Once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, it has looked out over Lhasa for more than 1,300 years. Inside, chapels, murals, and sacred relics tell the story of Tibetan Buddhism across the centuries.

  Jokhang Temple sits at the spiritual heart of the city, drawing pilgrims from every corner of Tibet. Join the faithful on Barkhor Street, the ancient circular prayer path that wraps around the temple, as juniper incense drifts through the air and the steady rhythm of devotion fills the street.

  The day ends at a traditional Tibetan sweet tea house. Warm butter-yellow tea, low wooden tables, and the easy conversation of neighborhood life make it an ideal place to let the day settle.

• Day 7: Yamdrok Lake Excursion from Lhasa

  Depart Lhasa and travel through high-altitude mountain roads toward Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's most striking sacred lakes. From elevated viewpoints, the lake unfolds in shifting shades of turquoise and blue, framed by snow-capped peaks and open grasslands.

  Continue along sections of the shoreline for different perspectives of the landscape. A lakeside stop allows time for a simple lunch and coffee with open views of the water and surrounding mountains.

  Return to Lhasa in the later part of the day.

• Day 8: Departure from Lhasa

  A private transfer takes you to the airport for your onward flight, bringing the journey to a close.
