• Is there a discount for children?  

  Yes. An infant under two years old will not be charged for anything other than the airfare, usually 10% of the adult's ticket fare (without a seat on the plane). Children aged between 2 and 12 can enjoy the children's discounts, approximately 70% to 80% of the adult's cost.

• How safe are these China trips for families?  

  China is one of the safest countries to travel in, and client safety is the foremost concern for China Odyssey Tours. All the hotels, vehicles, travel routes, guides, and drivers we recommend have been strictly evaluated and selected, and you can rest assured about your safety.
  In case of any danger or trouble during your trip due to force majeure or other unforeseen circumstances, our team will be at your service and do our best to help you resolve the issue.

• How much free time will there be to relax with my family?  

  We will tailor-make the itinerary of your family journey exactly according to your needs to ensure you spend enough quality time with your loved ones. If you wish or based on a professional vision, your travel expert may suggest some free time in and between the guided sightseeing. If you have any other suggestions or questions regarding the itinerary, please feel free to communicate with your travel consultant.

• Are there child-friendly facilities or play areas available in the hotel?  

  Typically, 4-star or 5-star hotels and family-oriented boutique hotels have facilities or play areas suitable for children. If you have such requirements, we will recommend hotels with play areas whenever possible. However, depending on how far off the beaten track the itinerary takes you, there may be some hotels without children's facilities. 

• What standard can I expect the accommodation to be?  

  We usually select hotels with safe locations, kid-friendly facilities, and English-speaking staff. You can choose from a range of accommodations to match your tastes and budget, including local or international star-rated hotels, apartments, and boutique hotels.

• Are family suites available?  

  Many hotels have a limited number of family suites, often just one or two, and these suites typically cost significantly more than two standard rooms.
  For a family of three, we usually suggest a triple room or a standard twin/double room with an extra mattress or fold-up bed.
  For families of four or more, we recommend booking two or more rooms as close to each other as possible. However, since most family holidays occur during peak season and hotel rooms are assigned upon check-in, adjoining or connecting rooms cannot be guaranteed in advance.

• Will there be a swimming pool in the hotel?  

  Swimming pools are always attractive to children, so we will choose hotels with pools whenever possible. Depending on your travel locations, there may be some hotels without swimming pools, but we will strive to provide you with comfortable accommodations.

• What standard can I expect the accommodation to be?  
  We usually pick hotels that have safe and good locations, facilities, and English-speaking staff. There is a range of accommodation that you can choose from to match your tastes and budget, including apartment hotels. Depending on your needs and availability, we can arrange king rooms with an extra bed, adjoining rooms, and connecting rooms for you.
• Can special dietary needs, like vegetarian options or food allergies, be accommodated?  

  China boasts an extensive and profound food culture. During the journey, we provide as many opportunities as possible for you to experience local food featuring fresh and diverse food ingredients. If you or your children have specific dietary requirements or allergies, please inform us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. 
  Vegetarian options are usually available, and most buffet-style meals include a variety of salads, rice dishes, and bread. However, please note that in some remote areas, it may be difficult to guarantee that the food is 100% allergen-free. In such cases, we suggest packing some food you know is safe as a precaution.

• How active are your holiday programs?  

  Our activity itineraries can be customized according to the preferences of each guest. Depending on the children's age and interests, we may recommend outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, biking, or cultural experiences like calligraphy, painting, and handicraft making. Feel free to tell us your requirements and we will do our utmost to fulfill them

• Do you require a letter of consent for children to travel with someone other than their legal guardi  

  It's necessary to obtain a travel consent letter as proof that you've been authorized to travel with the children in the absence of their legal guardian. 
  The letter can be handwritten or printed as long as including the following details:

  • A statement that you are permitted to travel with the child;
  • The child's date of birth;
  • The child's travel plans;
  • The letter must be signed by the child's legal guardian(s) and witnessed by a notary public, Justice of the Peace, or a similar public official. While you may never be required to show this letter, it's important to have one just in case.

   

• What is the best time for families with kids to visit China?  

  If you travel with infants or toddlers, avoid the cold winter (December, January, and February) and the hot months of summer (July and August). However for teenagers, just go when you can and make good preparations. China awaits you all year round. Read more at: The Best Time to Visit China

• What's the minimum age for children on a trip?  

  We don't have a strict age limit for bespoken private tours. You can take your babies travel with us as long as they are allowed to fly by the airlines. In China, babies born more than 14 days old and premature babies more than 90 days old can fly with a parent

• How safe are these trips for families?  
  The safety of the client is our top priority. Activities included in our family tours are mostly centered on children and have been tested by thousands of family travelers. There are no dangerous elements in our tours. There would be some walking involved but usually no more than 2 hours. You can just talk with your guide anytime your kids need a rest. In addition, since our tours are privately guided and tailor-made, your guide and driver can focus on and take good care of you and your family during the tour. The itinerary is highly flexible; your guide can help adjust it when necessary. For example, if any of your family members feel uncomfortable, we can alter the itinerary for them to take a good rest. • Is there any chance to meet local people and experience local life?  

  Meeting different people and experiencing different ways of life is one of the most important aspects of travel, and we are committed to providing these opportunities for our guests. In our travel programs, you will find activities such as visiting a local family, cooking local food, joining in morning exercises in a city park, farming in a rustic village, etc. These experiences allow you to immerse yourself in the local culture and connect with the community. 

• Are there medical facilities around the destination?  

  We typically arrange accommodations around city centers, with comprehensive medical facilities. If you have any regularly prescribed medication, please bring it with you. In case of any emergencies, our guides or office staff will be with you throughout the trip.
