It takes about an hour and a half to get from Zhangjiajie to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and there are plenty of convenient places to stay in nearby Wulingyuan Scenic Area. You can also choose between different packages to fully customize your visit. We will get into the details of what the route entails in the tips section of the article.

The glass bridge is one of the most impressive architectural marvels in the world, stretching 1,410 feet long and 20 feet wide. Look down, and you'll see a 984 drop to the canyon below. It's open between 8 am and 6 pm every day. Since only a set number of people can be on the bridge at one time, you'll receive an entry time on your ticket.
We advise that you book in advance, especially during peak seasons, and avoid major holidays to ensure that you get more of the canyon to yourself.

If you're an adventure seeker, the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is for you. You can test the limits of your endurance and nerves with these heart-pounding and utterly memorable activities.

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge

The glass bridge features the world's highest bungee jump, dropping you 984 feet from the center of the bridge. Visitors can pay an optional 2,998 RMB for the chance to drop to the depths, and it is run by Bungy China, a reputable company with safe bungee experiences worldwide, so despite the terrifying drop, you can rest assured that you're safe the whole way down.

High-Altitude Zipline

You can also enjoy an intense 300-meter-long zip ride high above the canyon. This fantastic ride takes about a minute and offers you incredible views and the exhilarating feeling of soaring with the birds, and it's something we truly recommend.

One-Line Sky Slide

If ziplining or bungee jumping isn't for you, you can always check out the One-Line Sky Slide, a multi-level dizzying drop to the canyon floor. The ride takes you deep into the lush forest, and lasts for about three minutes. It's the fastest and most fun way to get to the bottom of the canyon.

Hiking at the Bottom of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

This 3-kilometer trail is a must after exploring Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. The path is smooth and easy, guiding you through a dreamlike landscape where waterfalls cascade down steep cliffs, creating a misty, fairy-tale atmosphere. The journey takes about an hour at a leisurely pace, with plenty of time to take in the breathtaking views before ending with a relaxing boat ride out of the canyon.

Via Ferrata

The Via Ferrata, or Iron Road Climbing experience, will truly test your grit with a thin platform made entirely of iron slats that snakes down the side of the canyon. Stretching 168 meters long, and 1500 meters high, it's one of the most daring experiences you'll have at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. A safety helmet and harness are provided at the experience, so you'll just need to be ready for the challenge to take on the Via Ferrata, and don't look down!

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Elevators

There are three elevators at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon: the Sculpture Elevator, Sightseeing Elevator, and Treasure Hunt Elevator. You can ride the Sightseeing Elevator with the cost of your Route B ticket, but the Sculpture Elevator and Treasure Hunt Elevators cost a bit extra. They're worth riding for the great photo opportunities and views.

Tianmen Mountain Glass SkywalkTianmen Mountain Glass Skywalk

Tianmen Mountain is about an hour and a half car ride away from Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and offers some excellent skywalks of its own. The highest glass skywalk on Tianmen Mountain stands at 4,692 feet high, while the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge is 984 feet high. Each offers its own unique scenic views.

Unlike the Zhangjiajie glass bridge, the Tianmen Mountain skywalks have green paint on a lot of the glass so that you won't feel suspended in mid-air. They also run along the side of the mountain, rather than spanning the canyon.

There are three skywalks on Tianmen Mountain, including Panlongya, the east line, and the west line, and the walks can get slippery in bad weather. We advise visitors to avoid these skywalks during snow or rain. However, if you visit on a nice day, you'll get gorgeous views from the mountain summit and be able to participate in one of the most exciting experiences in the Zhangjiajie region.

  • Also, be aware that you can only take very small bags or mobile phones, and you'll have to leave larger items in a storage unit while you're crossing. If you do leave any luggage behind, you'll have to go back up the mountain to the tour entrance to get it, so pack lightly before your journey.
  • This attraction is also incredibly popular, so we recommend avoiding major holidays and trying to arrive as early as possible to have more of the bridge to yourself.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are good ideas, as the bridge is at a higher altitude, and the sun can be fierce. Wear flat shoes, as spiked heels and some platform shoes are prohibited on the bridge.
