Things to Know Before Going to Guizhou
Guizhou, where many ethnic groups live together, is a perfect place to learn about China's unique culture: Leishan, the Miao people's cultural hub, with architecture, traditions, and artwork reflecting its old times. Zhaoxing, one of the largest Dong villages in China and the cultural center of the Dong People, is famed for its drum towers symbolizing harmony and wealth. Dalidong Village, built along a brook in a mountain valley, its top draw is the five Wind-Rain Bridges, the icons of the Dong structures. Zenlei Village is one of the few villages inhabited by Shui people, providing chances to explore the secrets of this mysterious group.

Autumn, spring, and summer are the best seasons. Flowers start to bloom in the spring, which makes them ideal for photography. Due to the area's high altitude, summer is the optimum season for cooling off. In the autumn, celebrations will take place in ethnic minority areas.

Mutton Rice-Noodle; Sour-Soup Hotpot, the soup base made with fermented tomatoes, red chili, and spices; Niubie/Yangbie Hotpot, the soup base is made from the semi-digested herbs and grass of cattle or sheep. Although it smells bad, it tastes good.
- WHAT TO WEAR
Wear fleece coats and thick, long pants from March to May and September to October. Bring a light jacket in the summer because, though being hot during the day, it gets down to 16 degrees at night. Next, caps for sun protection and a pair of cozy footwear are also necessary.
